I'm not exactly religious but I appreciate spirituality, especially in music. It often reminds me that even if there is no god per say, the universe is a ginormous place that we have very little understanding about. Places and Beings that are much 'higher' than our understanding probably do exist in some obscure galaxy on the other side of space. That might terrify some, but to me it makes me feel reassured in myself that the universe is not out to get me, it's simply a place I'm living in and no very little about. It keeps me guessing and pondering about it's mysteriousness. God I love weed.
"With arms wide open" is another great song by Creed. Also "What's this life for" kinda hits you in the feels :D
This is one of the most well.written lyrics of all time...anyway im an atheist but i love creed
I always thought the guitar work in this tune was epic. They had a lot of great tunes.
This was such a good band. Lightning in a bottle. Very short-lived. But so good.
One of the most inspirational songs of all time, no matter what you may think of the band.
This song with its simple words, yet poignant style exactly Does what it is asking: It truly DOES "Take You Higher"
Creed has been the unfortunate target of a lot of hate since the early '00s. I think they were wrongly accused (for lack of a better word) of being a so-called "Christian band," the mere accusation alone being enough to turn a good percentage of metal fans off them, regardless of how good their actual music is. Anyone aware of Scott Stapp's childhood can understand why some of his lyrics tend to involve religious themes, but they cover a lot of dark themes, as well. But whatever your view of Stapp, you can't deny that as musicians, these guys are beasts. Powerful vocals, crunching guitar, fluid bass, thundering drums -- there are plenty popular rock acts today who musically can't hold a candle to these guys on their best day. As for those who accuse Creed of being Pearl Jam rip-offs, I have to wonder if those people have ever heard a Pearl Jam song. The only similarities are that Stapp and PJ front man Eddie Vedder or both baritones; other than that, the bands are as different as night and day.

Great review! Creed's Greatest Hits is worth a listen. So many songs that are awesome and actually better than this one. Hope you review more! So many of Creed's songs have a spiritual dimension. There's also an unplugged version Creed does of certain songs and they are awesome as well.

I like thinking the song is about a dude entering a relationship with his girl and asking/praying that he is strong enough to take her Dreams and make them his own.

This song is about lucid dreaming.
With undeniable Christian undertones. That's a big part of the song, no denying that. And, even though I'm not a Christian, I love the expression of spirituality.

I always thought these guys were ok.
Many people made fun of them, but there were worse bands out there. They started as a Christian Rock band.
