The haters gave them a hard time because they had positive, religious undertones. I had a friend who felt the same way. Sad. I'm not the most religious guy in the world, but how can you criticize their lyrics? They're full of positivity and love. Add me to the list of people who don't think they got the proper credit.
They somehow got the reputation of being a Christian rock band just because they had positive and religious leaning lyrics, that’s what some hate was about, the truth is that they were the number 1 rock band for a while. Do their video My Sacrifice next 🔥
Yeah I think younger millennials and older gen z started the hate train because it was overplayed on the radio when they were growing up and anything Christian related was dumb. But I don’t think the older millennials care, in fact I think a lot of older millennial guys loved and needed the messages in their music. And younger generations are just being introduced to older music and just vibe with it. I’m sure there are valid criticisms out there against the band but I think the people going out of their way to hate on it instead of just not listening to it have personal problems. There’s no doubt the vocals and instrumentals are impressive and well crafted
Creed is a band that taught their fans to sing their songs with soul and it's impossible for you to sing a Creed song without adding feeling and energy, this band is divine and Scott Stapp is simply the voice that commands everything A message for anyone who wants to be a Creed fan, please!!! adjust the sound volume when listening
Creed ruled the rock world for a couple years, then people started looking past the awesome performance and saw religion and suddenly they weren’t cool anymore. Regardless, they still rock hard for me. Absolute bangers.
Band (Creed) best band history rock 1997-2003, best vocalist Scott stapp Best ghiitar Mark Tremonti, perfection Sound live, Woodstock 1999, Boston 1997 , ollympic Winter games salt lake city 2002, live concert prison Alcatraz 2002 💯 . 55 milion album , 10 hits n1 billboard clasific, 4 nomination award , 4 ema winner, 1 gramy, 11 Platinum disc , 1 diamond disc . Creed Better 3:0 metallica, Korn, U2, Alice in chains, Stone Temple pilots, saudgarden, nirvana, Pearl jam, Slipknot. Creed infinity music quality progressive metal 🤟
You get those shots by filming with multiple cameras set up in a circle around the person and videomixing them in afteredit. A filming technique that was made popular in the late 90s early 2000s. Used in movies like The Matrix and Mission Impossible etc.
They mostly got grief later (they did the SUPER BOWL after 9/11, huge performance) because they were TOO popular and so things went in the media against them for the edgelords as the time progressed. Like Nickelback. No controversy, just the media turned on em due to the eras changing
In addition to the music media hating that the songs had spiritual references (and for the record, they have flat out said they are NOT a Christian band), grunge music was disappearing. Pearl Jam, the critics darling band (grunge band), also had a baritone lead singer, and the critics used to say Scott Stapp (Creed's lead singer) was trying to copy Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam's lead singer). Stapp's voice is waaay stronger than Vedder's, btw. Anyway, these were enough reasons to start hating the band. Stapp DID become kind of a douchebag by the 3rd album, and then they broke up. It's cool to see people nowadays just judge them for their music without all the manufactured hate and BS. "My Own Prison", "My Sacrifice", "One Last Breath" , and "Torn" are great ones. "What If", "Bullets", and "Are You Ready" are also great but at the same adrenalin level as this song was.
Creed went in phases, super popular during the WWF period of like late 90s, early 2000s, and then became corny to people in 2012 ish and now people love creed. Its weird. I mess with them heavy Unique sound for sure and positive lyrics

Haters are the minority, the Majority of us love Creed! Long live Creed!

They're a closet Christian band. lol
Man, nothing like the 90's-00's rock, punk, and alternative bands. Hard to find much that compares these days.

Lots of jealousy. Creed was super talented and musical. ❤You have excellent taste! ❤❤❤
Their hardest rock song is What if? By Creed. React to that

Moooore.
Creed is disliked by the internet music snobs in favor of the earlier nineties grunge.
