  • Backhand to backhand rallies are a common feature of modern table tennis. But how can we dominate these rallies? In this video pro player Charlotte Bardsley explains how she wins lots of points playing backhand to backhand. This is one of her best skills. She uses a combination of placement variation and spin variation to move her opponent out of position and force weak returns. This is a great skill to develop and will give you huge confidence in taking on your opponents in backhand to backhand exchanges.

Great tactical tips indeed. I do think you are vulnerable for switching regardless of placement, because you are grounded with your heels. See 4:40 for example. You are probably tall like myself, so you have reach while staying low is harder and taxing the legs. It's more comfortable for the likes of us to stay upright but it makes us grounded and immobilized.
