1:23 Pep really did the 🤑
If I have your salary!
To be fair Keane said he was a great striker... he just said his link up play was poor and that's just true.
I think the criticism is unfair though. The striker is there to put the ball in the bag of the net and the team behind him is good enough (KDB, B.Silva, Grealish, Kovacic, Doku, Rodri), worldclass in fact to do all the playmaking and link up and whatnot to supply him with chances so he can do what he was brought for.
@vincentvries9854 not the modern day striker. A striker is expected to do more for the team.
@@vincentvries9854thats why haaland will never be able to shine messi shoes.
@@razorman1977 Oh the "modern football" bs, I get it. All strikers literally have to be the same type, all midfielders, all defenders, all gks, all coaches, in fact the whole damn sport has to be played one specific way for it to be the supposed "right way to play football"...how did we even come to this?
@vincentvries9854 ha, calm down. Get stressed much? Opinions, that all it is. I'll let you into a secret, your opinion isn't the only one, neither is it the only one that matters. Just have fun and move on. Lol.

What Keane said is spot on. Haarland is the best goal scorer in the world but his general play has been very poor, almost at the level of a League 2 player. He also said he should look to improve it and he probably will. Even if he doesn’t, he’s a brilliant player to have of course, but he’d be absolutely incredible if his general play was as good as the best strikers in the world over the last 20 years.
As long as he can do simple things that’s all he needs which he can, he can run with the ball and pass recently he has struggled to do the simple things which makes out that he’s worse than what he is because he is the final third kdb went through this last season he just needs to focus on simple passing and control if you’re asking him to become this Ronaldo type player that’s impossible as your general play and technique is decided at as young as 8-11 years old from then on all you can do is add parts to your game but rn he’s going through a rough patch

Haaland isnt the best finisher in the world, Kane is. Even when you look at xG vs goals scored you can clearly see that Kane is far superior in the department. But Haaland does clearly edge him out in terms of physicality and positioning, so naturally the quality of chances he gets is higher.
Halaand got 5-6 defender on him so it's better make space for other in team to score. You should understand that's how Pep use Halaand on his tactic if not he already bench Halaand. Exactly. People are just being sentimental. Roy went further to say that he will improve
Haaland's job is to score goals, and he's scored more than anyone else this season. He's also got the same number of assists as many of the top midfielders. His general stats such as touches and number of passes might be lower than average by some margin, but surely that's partly down to his focus on getting into goalscoring positions, which is his job and which he is doing better than anyone else.

Roy Keane was so Gangsta back in the day as a player and is based as a pundit
Keane praised Haaland as the world`s best striker as well. But about DeGea or Maguire he said only terrible things. The problem is, he started a kind of hate movement against them. Everybody thinks, Maguire can`t play at all. In Russia 2018 he was the best of the national team. I liked Keane, when he defended Ronaldo at Man. U.
I think both Pep and Keane are wrong, in different ways. Keane is right to suggest that Haaland should contribute more in his build-up play and movements against elite sides, to make something happen or bring others in. But Keane also went overboard with the League Two comment. Haaland scored a hatful last year because he's bloody good. Pep however is overstating things here - Haaland is not the best forward in the world. That's silly. He's in the top 5, and he gets the numbers, but I would argue Osimhen and Lautaro Martinez, along with Kane, have more about them as centre-forwards. They have greater skillsets to find their way to goal, and bring others in, in difficult moments.
Well broken down. Well said and good comment.
Well said. Breaking down both sides of the argument first then putting in your own opinion. Too bad we don't get many people like you.
Very fair point and constructive criticism.
As an inter fan who watches a lot of serie A, I can assure you both lautaro and osimhen are nowhere near haaland. Maybe Kane. But one thing lautaro, Kane, haaland and vic have in common is they all disappear in big games.
Saying osimhen or Lautaro Martínez are better than Haaland is pretty much laughable. Kane is the only striker that can sit in the same table as Haaland.

Wow I can listen to this guy all day. I can see why he’s so successful
This is the problem with haaland his allround ability isnt elite for the "best player itw". Haaland has to outscore his opponents so much to the point you cant deny his impact. That happend last season. This season hell probably end up with 25 league goals, as weird as it may sound but that isnt good enough for him thave the "best player itw" shouts he had like last season.
54 goals in 59 games suggests he is doing the job he was bought for or should he entertain his teammates with a song and tell a few jokes at half time??

And that's the point you want to crown him that then you gotta do the extra stuff, If you ain't outscoring by a wide margin. In their Primes Van nistelrooy and Henry scored similar. Henry was in best itw debates more cause of the extra stuff. That's the reality. "He's doing the job". And? Do everything or I'm ranking other players over you. Roy's a league 2 manager :D
He was league 2 level player too
Haaland has greatness in him and but also has his shortcomings. He will never be a perfect all around player. That will be the biggest test for Pep as he is accustomed to work with all around talents like Eto'o, Villa, Lewa, Aguero
There was a bit of hyperbole in what Roy said but there was some truth to what he said. Haaland's game does have some glaring holes in it
Haaland is a decent finisher nothing less nothing more, he looked better than he was playing against old German league defenders when his pace was too much for them to handle and he is now playing in the premier league with the best team and the best playmakers in KDB, Silva and others. It would be extremely hard not to be on his goal tally with the amount of opportunities he gets served to him on a plate and that is a lot considering how many chances he also misses.
Why dont these reporters actually come up with their own questions?

Saying Haaland’s all round game is bad is a valid criticism
@roronoalaw7772 I mean sure. But he does his job which is score goals...I don't think him being a bit better at passing would have helped City in that game.
Id score 100 goals too if I had de Bruyne
Finally found someone with some sense
I don't understand why someone people have zero knowledge, just like pep said some people don't know what it takes to play 90min until they are on the pitch. Not just being on the pitch but being on the pitch and playing well for full 90min maybe more. Is hard their heart rate is off the roof, their balls and whole body dripping with sweat, it's really hard. Some have trophies to show for. for eg, Messi and Ronaldo are two of the most decorative player in football history but even them could testify that they could not have won what they have won by themselves only. and some don't have those trophies to show for, but when you see them play you will know that they're good. The reason why I'm saying all this trash is because some people think that football is just a walk around the park. Some people in the comment section are saying that city are better off with a false9 but I remember people were complaining that city's football was boring because they did not have a striker. And stats have shown that city two seasons ago had more ball possession and less attacking threat compared to this season thanks to Halland contribution city had less possession and more attacking threat. So if that does not tell you the contribution the guy has had at city then I don't know what will, Is there a room for improvement for Halland definitely but he does not make city weak he makes them terrifying because when City have the ball they go straight for attack because they know that they've got player up front to score goals or try at least. And that's him playing his part at City. Maybe we will see more from him other clubs but for City that's the way he is being played. And it works they could not have won a treble if not for him playing little part in the game because some of you are saying that he doesn't deliver in big games he delivers in little games games but tend to forget that those little game leads to big games. I know everybody's got their own opinion and that's fine by me. But don't criticize him just because he is not doing great this season let's not forget he was the runner-up last season for the Ballon d'Or. So he might be having a bad season according to some people because are don't really see the reason for him to be criticized really, City are still in the premiere league title challenge, semi final in the FA cup, top goal scorer in the league, so I don't really know what is wrong with the guy, some people are just mad because he is scoring more goals with less touches unlike other strikers that should not mean that he is a bad player just because he does not do too much on the ball but still manage to score goal should not make him any less of a player. Just because he has not managed to score so goals on Premier League top clubs should not mean you should be coming at him. But just like some Christian say not every day is Christmas.😊

I think he'd have hit similar numbers if he'd gone to city a few years back. Certainly offers a lot more with his general play than Haaland ever will.
