Actually, the thing is that both are equals, it's just that the chances for the fusion to happen succesfully is more in potara as it doesn't require any proper angle, finger matching and all that bs, it can be done in an instant as it guarantees a 100 % Successful fusion, whereas the Fusion Dance is an alternative that has like 50/50 chance for the fusion to happen successfully, hence it takes time to pull it off, so in a situation where you don't have much time against the enemy, you go with the potara, whereas when you have enough time against your enemy, you go for the Dance. The answer is definite if you consider the validity of your sources. For example, the Daizenshuu states that Potara is more powerful in two separate entries, & WSJ says Fusion is more powerful. These two sources cannot coexist, so you must decide which is more valuable. In this case, the Daizenshuu is far more reliable than Jump articles because of its method of creation, Toriyama interviews, & being specifically endorsed by him. In Jump articles, the content is largely up to Jump writers.

The actual translation is only stating that both fusions are capable of more than anything that Goku or Vegeta could put out individually, meaning that at bare minimum both fusions are above UI Goku. Honestly you can’t take that into facts anymore. Potara was classed to last forever by elder kai, yet it doesn’t. They even said the reason they defused in buu saga was cause they were inside of buu. Potara now been retconned and now there’s no clear answer to which fusion is stronger.

Patara fusion is more stable, lasts longer, the two people involved don’t have to match their power levels. That means that the Patara Fusion will combine their powers at the existing levels. With Fusion dance, it only lasts 30 minutes, it has to be performed perfectly in sync, and power levels have to match exactly. In the Gotenks fusion trunks has to lower his power level to Goten’s level for it to work. So the Fusion dance can potentially have a stronger outcome, it has too many prerequisites that, if not met, can have a negative impact on the outcome. The Patara fusion eliminates those prerequisites, can be done quickly, and by its design by/for divine beings (the Kai’s) it’s more stable. With the Patara earrings anyone of earths fighters could fuse with any of the other fighters, because the earring ignore the limitations that Fuse dance faces.

If you’ve watched super, vegito got severely nerfed, the potara last a a couple-few minutes now, while fusion dance still last the full 30. Gogeta wins hands down

Manly Potara or Dance both fusions require Ki to go the full time limit, like when Vegito used up all his Ki which shrunk his time limit or when Gogeta ss4 used up most of his Ki and dint charge because he was too cocky shortened his time limit. The full time limit is based on how much Ki you have and mantain.
I remember they changed it back in 2018 for the Broly movie, and now they're the same power but the time limit is still different. I could be wrong tho

Vegito. One thing that is said for the fusion dance to correctly function, the 2 people fusion need to be at the same power level. So if one person is stronger than the other, than that person needs to lower themselves to match. The ear ring fusion doesn’t have this restriction, in addition the ear rings provides magical abilities to counter act stranger things. Like being able to maintain your consciousness after being turned into a piece of candy. It also provides special abilities and attacks that is specifically designed to defeat your opponent, which would suggest the ear rings posses some form of awareness and knowledge but that’s a different rabbit hole. Ultimately Vegito would push ahead for the victory.

Also we can ignore the dance needing to be perfection as we are comparing their strength and not overall things. Plus, I must say I do disagree with you saying Vegito is stronger, as I like to believe they are equal and are both situational, as Vegito would probably come in handy as a last resort because of well the probability of messing the dance up for the fusion dance, while Gogeta would probably be better when preparing to fight someone with someone stalling as he would be better off in a fight thanks to the soul punisher. Potara is likely slightly stronger because Vegeta doesn't need to lower his power giving Vegito the slight advantage in power level. It's also important to note Gogeta is usually seen in later fights than Vegito and would therefore be perceived as stronger (the Broly movie happened after the TOP so Vegito would've been much stronger than his appearance in the Future Trunks Saga). Potara also has a longer time limit and theoretically should last longer than Gogeta as long as their power output is the same though I could be wrong on that.

Imo Potaro is a stronger fusion multiplier, but the Fusion Dance doesn't drain time when you power up. This still evens out however since Potara gives an hour (which drains quicker when using more power) vs a definitive 30 minutes.
Maybe Gogeta uses potara with Broly since they cannot match power levels and fusion dance may not work due to them being a fusion. But potara doesn’t need any requirement except wearing them
Originally Potaras were supposed to be stronger by default, but this has changed to a simple formula. Potara: (a+b)x Fusion multiplier Dance Fusion: if a=b, (a+b) x Fusion otherwise the stronger person has to power down (which was the case from the beginning) So for Vegito and Gogeta the only difference is the time limit. So Vegeto would likely win, due to timeout.
There are those who discuss if they are different people. But for me they are both the same, with the same personality. Just different fusing methods with different power bonuses

From scaling and known appearances, i conclude Potara. The gods acknowledge them as valuable treasures thus do not hand them out without a reason. The dance can be taught, learned by anyone AND was used to defeat lesser enemies.
No one is probably gonna see this since this is quite late but I’ll throw in my 2 cents if anyone reads this. The reason for Vegito defusing early against Zamasu was of the blue form being unstable. However, he would have lasted a bit longer had he not used the Final Kamehameha, which drained the time limit because of the amount of power as well as his unstable form. I also want to bring up Gotenks as an example even though he isn’t a potara fusion. He defused after 5 mins instead of 30 mins due to ssj3 being power draining and unstable. Gogeta’s appearance in the Broly movie also proves that the statement earlier about the amount of power making them defuse false since if that were to be the case, the second Gogeta turns SSJ he would defuse, since at that point he is stronger than both Goku and Vegeta at their max, even counting Goku as MUI. But because they have mastered SSJ at that point, it isn’t power draining or unstable for them to use. SSJ blue Gogeta also lasted so long because Goku and Vegeta have had a lot more experience with Blue at that point and in the manga Goku managed to master it (right after they defused from Vegito against Zamasu lol) and I assume at one point Vegeta did as well. I feel like both of them are equal at this point in time and they’re as strong as each other with the only downside being Gogeta lasts 30 mins max while Vegito lasts 1 hour max, giving Vegito an advantage time wise but not in strength. I don’t want to say who wins in a fight because they’re both equally as strong in my opinion and I personally like Vegito the best in Dragon Ball, with Gogeta coming in second and it’s a tough choice for me since I basically like them equally although Vegito is my number 1 because of his trash talk :p.

In DBZ is said that trunks needed to make his power lower so it could match goten’s. So while potara would use the base power of vegeta and Goku, Goku would need to make his power lower in order to fuse with vegeta

Canonically, the Fusion Dance lasts longer than the Potara when both go full power. The Dance would always last 30 mins while the Potara's time limit decreases the more power the user outputs

Potara doesn't need a match for fusion, so no need to worry about issues with matching. It might be a higher multiplication, Potara is easier and faster if you have a kai handy. Deathbattle actually tackled this last year and due in part to not needing to power match Potara has an advantage

Honestly, even as a gogeta fan, lets break it down to its essence…a namekian dance vs the earings that are made to join together the power gods(kais). Its somewhat comparable to saying, “if krillin and yamcha both used a kamehame wave after havong their potential unlocked temporarily vs a kaioken (king kai fist, king kai’s technique) kamehame wave, which would win?” I think the answer is pretty obvious. (albeit the given scenario is somewhat of a stretch for comparison) Although, I don’t believe the power difference is that far apart. It could be perhaps that there are different attributes to each fusion. Maybe because the fusion dance has so many prerequisites, it’s more stable than the potara fusion and can withstand more power; a more complete fusion. as opposed to the potara which has problems taking every aspect of each individual and making them one(zamasu’s body corruption, goku and vegeta unfusing inside of buu) or the fact that not only does the potara have a time limit but a power limit as well. Just the same, what if its the amount of power being constantly exerted causeing said drawbacks? The answer is definite if you consider the validity of your sources. For example, the Daizenshuu states that Potara is more powerful in two separate entries, & WSJ says Fusion is more powerful. These two sources cannot coexist, so you must decide which is more valuable.
In this case, the Daizenshuu is far more reliable than Jump articles because of its method of creation, Toriyama interviews, & being specifically endorsed by him. In Jump articles, the content is largely up to Jump writers.

The actual translation is only stating that both fusions are capable of more than anything that Goku or Vegeta could put out individually, meaning that at bare minimum both fusions are above UI Goku. Honestly you can’t take that into facts anymore. Potara was classed to last forever by elder kai, yet it doesn’t. They even said the reason they defused in buu saga was cause they were inside of buu. Potara now been retconned and now there’s no clear answer to which fusion is stronger.

Patara fusion is more stable, lasts longer, the two people involved don’t have to match their power levels. That means that the Patara Fusion will combine their powers at the existing levels. With Fusion dance, it only lasts 30 minutes, it has to be performed perfectly in sync, and power levels have to match exactly. In the Gotenks fusion trunks has to lower his power level to Goten’s level for it to work. So the Fusion dance can potentially have a stronger outcome, it has too many prerequisites that, if not met, can have a negative impact on the outcome. The Patara fusion eliminates those prerequisites, can be done quickly, and by its design by/for divine beings (the Kai’s) it’s more stable. With the Patara earrings anyone of earths fighters could fuse with any of the other fighters, because the earring ignore the limitations that Fuse dance faces.

Manly Potara or Dance both fusions require Ki to go the full time limit, like when Vegito used up all his Ki which shrunk his time limit or when Gogeta ss4 used up most of his Ki and dint charge because he was too cocky shortened his time limit. The full time limit is based on how much Ki you have and mantain.

Vegito. One thing that is said for the fusion dance to correctly function, the 2 people fusion need to be at the same power level. So if one person is stronger than the other, than that person needs to lower themselves to match. The ear ring fusion doesn’t have this restriction, in addition the ear rings provides magical abilities to counter act stranger things. Like being able to maintain your consciousness after being turned into a piece of candy. It also provides special abilities and attacks that is specifically designed to defeat your opponent, which would suggest the ear rings posses some form of awareness and knowledge but that’s a different rabbit hole. Ultimately Vegito would push ahead for the victory.

Plus, I must say I do disagree with you saying Vegito is stronger, as I like to believe they are equal and are both situational, as Vegito would probably come in handy as a last resort because of well the probability of messing the dance up for the fusion dance, while Gogeta would probably be better when preparing to fight someone with someone stalling as he would be better off in a fight thanks to the soul punisher. Though if they aren’t fully evil or if the soul punisher doesn’t work, Vegito would probably be the better pick when fighting as you can’t mess it up. Potara is likely slightly stronger because Vegeta doesn't need to lower his power giving Vegito the slight advantage in power level. It's also important to note Gogeta is usually seen in later fights than Vegito and would therefore be perceived as stronger (the Broly movie happened after the TOP so Vegito would've been much stronger than his appearance in the Future Trunks Saga). Potara also has a longer time limit and theoretically should last longer than Gogeta as long as their power output is the same though I could be wrong on that.

Imo Potaro is a stronger fusion multiplier, but the Fusion Dance doesn't drain time when you power up. This still evens out however since Potara gives an hour (which drains quicker when using more power) vs a definitive 30 minutes.

Originally Potaras were supposed to be stronger by default, but this has changed to a simple formula.
Potara: (a+b)x Fusion multiplier
Dance Fusion: if a=b, (a+b) x Fusion otherwise the stronger person has to power down (which was the case from the beginning)
So for Vegito and Gogeta the only difference is the time limit. So Vegeto would likely win, due to timeout.

what people keep forgetting is they are the exact same person. And to say one is serious and the other is cocky would be wrong, since they have both had a serious and cocky fight.
From scaling and known appearances, i conclude Potara. The gods acknowledge them as valuable treasures thus do not hand them out without a reason. The dance can be taught, learned by anyone AND was used to defeat lesser enemies.

No one is probably gonna see this since this is quite late but I’ll throw in my 2 cents if anyone reads this.
The reason for Vegito defusing early against Zamasu was of the blue form being unstable. However, he would have lasted a bit longer had he not used the Final Kamehameha, which drained the time limit because of the amount of power as well as his unstable form. I also want to bring up Gotenks as an example even though he isn’t a potara fusion. He defused after 5 mins instead of 30 mins due to ssj3 being power draining and unstable. Gogeta’s appearance in the Broly movie also proves that the statement earlier about the amount of power making them defuse false since if that were to be the case, the second Gogeta turns SSJ he would defuse, since at that point he is stronger than both Goku and Vegeta at their max, even counting Goku as MUI. But because they have mastered SSJ at that point, it isn’t power draining or unstable for them to use. SSJ blue Gogeta also lasted so long because Goku and Vegeta have had a lot more experience with Blue at that point and in the manga Goku managed to master it (right after they defused from Vegito against Zamasu lol) and I assume at one point Vegeta did as well. I feel like both of them are equal at this point in time and they’re as strong as each other with the only downside being Gogeta lasts 30 mins max while Vegito lasts 1 hour max, giving Vegito an advantage time wise but not in strength. I don’t want to say who wins in a fight because they’re both equally as strong in my opinion and I personally like Vegito the best in Dragon Ball, with Gogeta coming in second and it’s a tough choice for me since I basically like them equally although Vegito is my number 1 because of his trash talk :p.

In DBZ is said that trunks needed to make his power lower so it could match goten’s. So while potara would use the base power of vegeta and Goku, Goku would need to make his power lower in order to fuse with vegeta

Canonically, the Fusion Dance lasts longer than the Potara when both go full power. The Dance would always last 30 mins while the Potara's time limit decreases the more power the user outputs

Honestly, even as a gogeta fan, lets break it down to its essence…a namekian dance vs the earings that are made to join together the power gods(kais). Its somewhat comparable to saying, “if krillin and yamcha both used a kamehame wave after havong their potential unlocked temporarily vs a kaioken (king kai fist, king kai’s technique) kamehame wave, which would win?” I think the answer is pretty obvious. (albeit the given scenario is somewhat of a stretch for comparison) Although, I don’t believe the power difference is that far apart. It could be perhaps that there are different attributes to each fusion. Maybe because the fusion dance has so many prerequisites, it’s more stable than the potara fusion and can withstand more power; a more complete fusion. as opposed to the potara which has problems taking every aspect of each individual and making them one(zamasu’s body corruption, goku and vegeta unfusing inside of buu) or the fact that not only does the potara have a time limit but a power limit as well. Just the same, what if its the amount of power being constantly exerted causeing said drawbacks?
