    Great job Scott, I ordered a replacement and installed and it works! One month later I turned on the broiler and after it lit, I noticed the igniter never turns off. Did I make a mistake or do I have another problem to fix?

  • @jehnew
    @jehnew Год назад +1

    To solve the broiler problem. Firstly, if the new igniter gets red/white hot after installing and the oven doesn't light in about 30 seconds, try holding a long match or long lighter. You may have to wait 10 minutes until it cools down. If the broil lights, then the new igniter is putting out enough power to open the gas valve. So it works. Now you have to fiddle with the placement of the igniter until it works correctly. I've even left off the metal cover. If the new igniter gets red/white hot and the broiler igniter takes a long time to open the gas valve mounted to the back of the stove for the broiler, then the valve may need to be changed. The igniter should really be tested with an olm meter. The oven is the same, except the gas valve is behind the kick panel.
    Also. the wire connection should be made above the oven where the cook burners are. This is how it was made.

    So what happens when you replace both the igniter & infrared burner & it still doesn’t work? Where do you go from there?

      @@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel Scott - let me ask you a question. I just ordered two igniters, one for my oven and one for the broiler.
      My oven totally stopped heating, so that one is hopefully an obvious fix, thanks to your video.
      My broiler has been acting funny for a few weeks. It will turn on, the igniter will glow and the flame will start partially. When you look at the flame it it goes in and out of being lit and kind of looks like a flag blowing in the wind across the heating element. Our apartment will then smell of gas. Do you think that's the igniter as well or another issue?

    Hi Scott. Thanks for putting these vids up. My 14 yr old wolf oven AND broiler are not igniting. I researched the issue and found one source saying they replaced with a generic igniter and it didn't last so they paid the big bucks for OEM - Please advise. Also, I find it very serendipidous (sp?) that both my oven and broiler igniter need replacing at the same time. While I often use the oven, not so the broiler. What are your thoughts on this.

    • @ScottTheFixItGuyChannel
      @ScottTheFixItGuyChannel  2 года назад +1

      I wonder if the broiler had all ready been out when the oven failed.
      They probably both just need a new generic igniter👍

      @@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel HI Scott, I replaced the broiler igniter and no success. It glows but no flame. So i hesitate to go forward with the oven igniter. I suspect now it is the gas feed. Perhaps a blockage. The stove top burners work without issue. Any thoughts.

    Hi Scott. Great vids. Our 48" 1995 Wolf Gourmet range developed a oven broiler problem. I replaced the igniter per your instructions and put in a new thermostat but I still only get 35V to the igniter which is not enough to make it glow/open the gas. Do you think it an issue with the Broiler Thermal Valve? It sure is frustrating. Thanks

    Looks so easy! However, I found that the heat shield that the igniter slips into has almost disintegrated. Is the heat shield necessary? If so, do you have a part number for it?

      @@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel Thank you for your prompt reply!
      I replaced the heat shield and finished the installation. The igniter works but the gas is on for quite some time before the broiler lights. When it does, it sort of explodes. I wonder of the heat shield covers too much of the igniter or if the bracket got bent down a bit as there the igniter assembly sits very slightly askew, not flat against the broiler. The heat shield in your video seems open on the top side and mine is mostly closed, by the way.

      @@idigdirt5761 did you ever figure it out? You said it takes quite some time to ignit, how long? Just purchased a home with this oven inside and don't really know how to work it, I installed this same as the video but it doesn't light and I'm not sure how long I actually need to wait I don't want the house to explode lol

    • @idigdirt5761
      @idigdirt5761 3 года назад

      @@MackDyluhTV I used to start the broiler with the door cracked open, but since replacing the igniter, I start the broiler with the door closed. It DOES ignite after about 30 seconds...sort of "explodes", actually...but with the door closed, I don't smell the gas, nor does the "explosion" startle me as much. Basically, I think the broiler igniter design is flawed to begin with. I would have expected Wolf to change the design, especially the design of the shield that goes over the igniter, but they haven't done that. Instead of being a solid shank of metal, I think the shield should have an opening so that the glowing igniter would light the broiler faster, without the "explosion". I fully expect that the igniter will have to be replaced again in the future. Maybe by then Wolf will have changed the design.

  • @MackDyluhTV
