I've been doing embedded firmware for 25 years and for a long time I've been concerned that we don't get a lot of "new blood" in the field. I'm glad you made this video. I love the field and hope more young people enter the field.
Recently into the field and I'm loving it! Went from Junior Engineer out of college, and a year later getting promoted to Embedded Systems Engineer. I very much enjoy this field
@iffyrules As a Comp Sci new grad, what projects do you suggest I try out in order to figure out if I'll love Embedded Systems. I definitely like Software Engineering. I liked taking an Embedded Systems course in 4th year. I liked the theory but I'm not sure how in love I'll be with the hardware, but I don't want this to stop me. Any suggestions please? Also what do you think of the book: Making Embedded Systems: Design Patterns for Great Software by Elecia White
I started as in web dev and now is a jr full stack but embedded system is where I want to go. I am acquiring as much information as I need before going in the journey. I probably have to retake math and physics but with the new logic I developed with programming, I feel like it won't be as bad as I think it would.
@@pyzziie6712 BRO IM THE SAME I'm 24 currently as a front end and have a startup in web dev I enjoy developing and designing but embbeded engineering is where I want to go because I really like the idea of interacting with hardware and programming software it's like doing UI ux and development all in one. Currently doing a post bacc in computer engineering.
You can do embedded with almost any language you want. C and C++ are probably the most common, but you can now buy microcontroller boards for which Python implementations exist... if you are willing to live with the performance hit. If you want to "go tribal", FORTH and assembly language are fine. They are easier than you think, even for fairly large projects.
Hi. Great video. Can you please suggest whether a computer science engineer with 5 years experience can change to embedded or chip design electronics job after 5 years of IT android development experience? Im from india. Would be glad if anyone could suggest
Yes, a lot of the time it is not as high paying as other software. Although the grass is always greener on the other side, right? Embedded Engineers are still very well off compared to average salaries. We practice and preach to follow your passion. The money will follow! Cheers
First world problems. You live in a country that designs chips in the first place. On the under hand, second and third world countries don't have privilege of having VLSI as job listing but embedded developers are at the top of electrical engineering hierarchy.
@@ArvinTR-tx1ew That other countries need to catch up in chip design is true, but that the embedded guy is at the top is total bullshit. You will morel likely find a physicist, mechanical engineer, software architect or even an MBA as the manager in many projects. I swear all I've done was thinking about learning embedded system in my head and youtube recommends this.
Haha the YT algorithms work in strange ways.. sometimes a little too strange 😳
Embedded Systems is the best. Electrical and code. This video is a great explanation considering I am one myself (;
Electrical and Code indeed - the best of both worlds 😄 Always happy to see your comments MrDangerousBOB!
Do you mind sharing whats your salary and facilities ranges
such good production for the video ! I'm surprised there are only a few likes
Thanks for the comment! 🙂
This is literally perfect since this is the career that I have been researching to see if I want to do it
So glad to hear it! People like you are exactly who we made this video for. We hope it helped with your decision!
no seriously thank you this video was a life saver for me since I have been on a deadline on choosing a career@@EngineeringInsiders

Great video and thank you! This is the field I want to get into.
Awesome! Glad you liked it 🙂
embedded system is key technology in industrial era 4.0 , i think
very good video, i’ve been thinking about getting into this job, this just makes me want to do it even more :)
Great video, explained top to bottom, big like
Thanks, similar content coming out soon!🙂
Please make a video on vlsi engineer.
Will do! Give us some time to get it moving. Thanks for the recommendation
I am also very interested in this

what kind of books should i read to become an embedded engineer

Can Computer science and physics major endeavour.
Is it not that software and electrical engineering is computer engineering?
i'm happy to watch this video
We are happy to read your comment :-)
apart from the passion and joy in the field, is it really worth it ? Does it pay well like other part of the software engineering.

create something new and out of the box on your own then sell it
I am from a third world country and I want to study this field in Asia or anywhere else. What are my chances of working?
very interesting
Is this salary enough and a fair equivalent for the work?
No, you won't. You will be working long hours, the bosses will be breathing down your neck and you will be paid half as much as a chip designer. ;-)
