As an immigration agent in Dublin once told me recently, "if everything is running smoothly, Ryanair is grand. If ANYTHING goes wrong... good luck." This summarizes it well for me - yes, you can save money, which is great. However, if you have any delays or cancellations, get caught in a long security line and miss your flight, have a lost bag, need to rebook your flight, etc, good luck. You'll be completely abandoned under the excuse of absolute minimum service, even when something isn't your fault. Just look at what they did during the pandemic; some people booked flights that they couldn't end up taking because of last-minute pandemic movement restrictions that barred them from getting to the airport, and Ryanair refused to refund these passengers - and when those passengers then tried to get their money back through their credit card via chargebacks, Ryanair put those passengers on a blacklist and refused to let them fly with Ryanair again until they had paid the airline back. Sheesh. Ryanair serves a purpose - but for peace of mind, if I have any another reasonable option, I'll avoid them. There's something to be said about being treated like a human being when dealing with a company, and I've found that while airlines like Lufthansa, KLM, etc are far from perfect, they generally do try to help you out when something goes wrong and have more established protocols in doing so.
@@bocchi2403 it's their fault if their own agents check people in at the airline's main hub knowing they won't have enough time to pass security... and then proceed to just take your money and not help you.
It's the faraway airports, and the fact that you have a "final boarding" call 45 minutes before departure and you end up standing in the hall/crammed into a small room for half an hour before boarding... Once in the air (and as long as you follow the baggage rules) there is no real drawback over the legacy carriers...
They make damn sure that they can board and leave within like 30 minutes after arriving at the gate and avoid any delays, because that costs money. In my experience you usually have to sit and wait in an enclosed gate while waiting and there's usually enough seats, it's still a bit tedious but you get what you pay for. On the plus side you can often get priority boarding for very cheap!
Ryanair is fine, if the airports suit and you need no frills. When you do add on priority etc to take a cabin bag, sometimes it can be cheaper to just fly BA. I was a frequent flyer from London to Dublin for 4 years. I can't speak for other routes but that's my experience.
I’ve used Ryanair absolutely loads and to be honest they’re absolutely fine. Only ever had one delay over an hour and even that was due to weather. As you say, follow their rules and you won’t have a problem! I even bought extra legroom for the first time on my last flights with them which was really excellent! They do a job, get you from A to B efficiently and generally on time with minimal fuss and hassle.
Yeah Ryanair is great cheap as hell their on time performance really isn't bad, few cancelations and you know what you're getting into because they are very open and honest about being a budget airline and their prices to prebook luggage is super cheap
The problem with ryanair is boarding, check in, etc, because you are definitely gonna get fucked over if something bad happens, their customer support is somehow worst than not having one
They left us at an airport in spain once with no checkin desk about 1:15 hour before take off , with no-one to talk to. When we were finally at the gate (our luggage with knifes, fluets etc had to go through security), the Ryanair staff smiled at us and closed the gate door right in front of us. Refusing to react to our knocking and other actions to get their attention. Then we had to leave the security area again, but with nobody speaking english or german (or our native language) at security that was a hassle as well. In the and we had to make a scene to get to someone speaking a language we speak as well. Just for them to tell us Ryanair does that more often. THE AIRPORT management had to fix the situation and get us on another flight, because nobody at Ryanair even picked up the phone. We never had any problems in any other airlines. And I will not fly Ryanair again. We never had any problem with BMIbaby, Easyjet, klm, transavia, martinair, AirBerlin, Vueling etc.
Just a quick FYI, most ground staff in airlines aren’t recruited by the airlines themselves, nor provided training by those airlines. They’re contracted by other companies to wear their uniforms and represent. Few companies like Dnata, DHL, Menzies etc.
@@alexorjerry it‘s still Ryanair’s fault. You can hardly argue that those reoccurring problems are just down to third party service companies. Why does this not happen with other airlines this often?
@@realtoverland it’s definitely not mate, but think what you want. Airlines pay contractor companies to wear their uniform. You don’t meet an actual Ryanair employee until you step onboard.
It's only worth to fly with them if you are living right next to a secondary airport where they are flying to/from, and you are travelling with a backpack. Otherwise, their extras and the transfer to the airports adding up so much that it's costs either just a little bit less, maybe the same but most of the cases even more than you are flying with a legacy carrier not even talking about their ridiculously inconvenient departure/arrival times.

My issue with Ryanair is their numerous attempts to discriminate against passengers with disabilities, e.g., wanting to charge extra for wheelchairs and numerous others that were, thankfully not implemented. My attitude is that they obviously don’t want passengers like me so I’m not giving them my money. I would genuinely rather spend 24 hours on buses than fly with them.

Being tricked into extras? Really? Like what extras? I've flown with ryanair multiple times and they make their baggage policy and the necessity of online check-in pretty clear.
I have flown them quite a lot as it’s the cheapest tickets and have flown them from a young age and have never really had any problems. I feel that just a couple flights were bad and when that got online a lot of people who had never flown them just started saying that they were bad. When there not. You pay £20/20€ you get £20/20€s worth and you fly on new modern aircraft 1000s of KMs, so really not that bad.
Ryanair are really the pioneers of unbundling. They’re always the first to make passengers pay for stuff they previously got for free. Other airlines just aren’t brave enough but eventually they end up copying Ryanair’s unbundling just to compete with Ryanair on price.
If you add the extra luggage fees, the bus/train to and from the small airports, it comes to the same price as a flagship airline and you are also not bombarded with someone trying to sell you overpriced parfume.
yep, i think Ryanair is only worth it if you’re okay with a backpack holiday and no suitcase. but to be fair, flight companies like EasyJet and Jet2 also don’t automatically come with luggage and you still have to pay extra, although it might be like £30 for easyjet luggage and £80 for ryanair

If there were significant delays which were pretty rare we'd give out vouchers for use in the terminal, if you missed a flight we'd get you on the next one. I totally agree with you Dan. If I have a short haul flight in Europe (less than say 3 hrs) I am perfectly happy to fly Ryan Air, or SAS if I’m traveling to or from Scandinavia - in spite of the fact that both airlines have once or twice had delays of up to 2/3 hours.
Honestly agreed. Ryanair is one of my favorites ngl. They're clean and quick. Their snacks are good and affordable yet the same as on other airlines. The plane rides are cheap but their sits more comfortable than the ones on Emirates like what
For me it’s that they never park the plane directly next to the aisle but 100m away and you have to queue outside at the stairs regardless of the weather.
Yes! And they make people go outside under a heavy rain and wait there for 30-40 minutes without allowing to come back to the terminal because "the gate is already closed". Why did you push people outside if the plane is not ready???
I LOVE ryanair. Good headphones and a sleeping mask and you're golden. Sleep, watch a movie, and spend the money you saved from flying another airline doing something you like!!
Absolutely right ! I have flown Ryanair maybe 100 times , never a problem . Their fares are always the best if you avoid booking at the last minute . Great airline in general !
Thank you very much for explaining that our company isn't bad. Over the past years of working for the Ryanair community we've been getting loads of hate for our services, many people have been talking bad about our company and spreading rumors about our hard landings. The only times we land hard is when our aircraft is facing a short runway or in some crosswind. Thank you very much for reading and we hope you enjoy flying with us 😊
They don't do connections. They are strict with cabin baggage. Shittiest hours. But worst, they actually change destinations during the flight and cancel flights
They just fly their planes all day long, a consequence being that some routes will be served very early or very late, and I've never had a Ryanair flight change destination midflight
I always felt they are creating new rules all the time, trying to make you screw up so you have to pay a fine. That stressed me so much that I felt more relaxed flying essentially any other airline.
Don't know what industry you work in. For millions working in healthcare, catering and hospitality, construction, delivery services etc etc your comment will seem incongruous.
They had me waiting 10 hours in santiago after getting up at 4pm for a 6.20 flight. They would have known the day before to inform customers in advance about the delay, thats what did my nut in.
Ryanair is amazing value if you are flying solo with only hand luggage and everything goes smoothly. If you are flying in groups/as a family, they will purposely spread you around the plane to make you pay a shit ton extra to select seats to sit together. And if something goes wrong and you end up stranded or lose luggage etc. then Ryanair are basically like “lol tough shit bro” whilst legacy airlines generally try to help you out as best they can.
They moved my flughts departure time 8 hours before departure, informed us 4 hours before the original departure time, giving us: 1 hour 30 mins to get to the airport with the new departure time. (I live 2 hours from the airport) Because of this, we missed the flight. No compensation what so ever. Just a "sorry for the inconvenience"
Since the end of 2021 you have been able to get compensation for flights being brought forward by more than 1 hour without 14 days notice. It classed like a cancelled flight under EU261.
The reason they are “hated” is large part their joke that they are awful service and cannot lane a plane normally, but actually the fact you can fly all over Europe for their prices is ridiculous
I started to feel dizzy and sick short after we reached the flight height. I asked the fly attendant for purchase of a bottle of water, as I knew that Ryanair would never give you even a drop for free. Even if I told her, that I'm feeling dizzy and sick, I received the reply that I have to wait my turn after they will start the on-board service in 15 min. The passenger next ti me gave me his water as I was in risk to faint. I flew with them for eight years regularly, but since then never more.
@@moistschmeckles400 Exactly my point. They try to push “making a buck” to the extreme... to the point where it’s childish and ridiculous, not to mention completely inviable.

I had a very bad experience here in RyanAir. I booked a flight at 7am, at 5am, I was already in the airport and the line for checking in is very very long. They also said that they will open the desks at 730am (past my flight). The online checking in didn't work, except only for booking a "first class". I was forced to pay double the price, and when I got in, we were only 7ppl on board. Food was not that good as well.
My problem with airlines like that is that the ticket price doubles if you want the small luxury of sitting with your family, when in reality the airline could have accommodated group seating without charging
They charge extra for priority boarding, so you can choose your seat - which gets you priority onto the bus, not the plane, so there's literally no benefit. They don't fly to the cities they claim (100km away in some cases). They spend half the flight trying to sell tat like lottery tickets. They force you to buy special hand baggage as they don't accept standard-sized carry-ons. I could go on ...
At least it isn't as bad as Spirit Airlines (you can tell by the name). Plus, the Priority Boarding is optional and the reason why they don't fly to the nearest airport in every city is plainly because it is a budget airline and it might save time like any other budget airline. I'm not saying Ryanair is the best and your wrong I am just saying that it isn't really that bad as people think. It's just a normal airline :) But the thing about lottery is very true on literally every budget airline!
@@urfavouritelittlerat I used to fly it twice a month (as it was the only airline to fly that particular route); these days I'll pay three times as much to avoid it!
It's all optional, and even if you pick every option - it's still cheaper than Lufthansa or KLM. Also: WHERE do they land 100km away?! You're just talking out of your rear end.
All I can say, is that a couple weeks ago I flew from Derry to Manchester to Eindhoven and back again with Ryanair. EVERY flight had at least a half hour delay. And we were stuck o the plane. Every flight was scheduled to be on time. I'd say the whole delay time added up was like 6, 7 hours. And they lied to us. The first flight had a bird strike okay, but they didn't tell us for about an hour. They knew the plane had a birdstrike and they didn't tell us. Its just such a difficult airline.
People "against Ryanair" be like: "greedy Ryanair wants extra 10USD for my 50 dollar ticket. Screw them, next time I fly Lufthansa for 200 dollars and get a seat for free!" Their logic and mathematical abilites are just dead 💀
Nope, as the current economy fairs for Ryanair, luggage and other extras excluded, cost now way more than 50 USD. With the cost of a flight including like 200 to 400 € only for one direction, which happens now pretty often, you could basically fly with Lufthansa, KLM or BA if they offered direct flights on some routes.
I flied with Rayanair. It was really fast, calmy. I tell you guys don't listen to these people who say that raynair is the worst and blah blah. It is really cool there
It’s not about hating Ryanair, it’s about fair pay and fair benefits. If you spend €5 on a ticket someone in the entire chain of working personnel is not getting paid enough or faces bad working conditions. That should be your main concern.

@@DevRel1Hahahaha
Never had issues with Ryanair. It is totally ok for 2 - 4 hours.
Even then, if something is cheap enough, people will put up with it.
Yeah Ryanair is great cheap as hell their on time performance really isn't bad, few cancelations and you know what you're getting into because they are very open and honest about being a budget airline and their prices to prebook luggage is super cheap
Its perfectly fine, as long as you’re kneecaps are removable. You get to where you want to go. It’s just not in any way comfortable.
Kudos to Transavia and the Alicante Airport for getting us home btw
Just a quick FYI, most ground staff in airlines aren’t recruited by the airlines themselves, nor provided training by those airlines. They’re contracted by other companies to wear their uniforms and represent. Few companies like Dnata, DHL, Menzies etc.
@@alexorjerry yes many forget this and will shout at swissport for Ryanair’s failings

@@realtoverland it’s definitely not mate, but think what you want. Most point out Ryanair because 1) they have over 400 aircraft that fly exclusively short-long haul and can do up to 4 sectors a day, so the margins for error is very small. 2) weather changes and needs to be avoided. 3) sometimes ground staff also have issues.

Ryanair is NOT half price of other airlines, unless you buy your ticket three months in advance.
Most of the time it’s the same price or just slightly lower than other airlines.
After you pay for your ticket they will try to extract more money from you in every imaginable way they can.
No one buys plane tickets a week in advance
My issue with Ryanair is their numerous attempts to discriminate against passengers with disabilities, e.g., wanting to charge extra for wheelchairs and numerous others that were, thankfully not implemented. My attitude is that they obviously don’t want passengers like me so I’m not giving them my money. I would genuinely rather spend 24 hours on buses than fly with them.
They're quite rutheless unfortunately. They don't care what it is, but as soon as it costs money, they'll do anything and everything to avoid it.
I love Ryan Air always on time with lovely cabin crew!

it's because chubby aviation geeks who've never flown ryanair (and sometimes not an airliner at all) have seen 1 hour clips of ryanair hard landings

Flew them last week. Got to the airport at 6:30 am for an 8:30 flight. We boarded and then were told to get off due to a maintenance issue with the plane. They immediately boarded another group of passengers onto the same plane and they flew to a different city. The times when Ryanair economy fairs were costing 5£ or 5€ are over. Even the normal fairs without the extras are similar to the most airlines now. So you are paying more for worse service, while you could get better service easily at the same cost.
BA is more comfortable & less strict with their rules. Def found it a smoother ride & they’re more accommodating if something goes wrong whereas RyanAir just says “well good luck with that” 😂😂

U and ryanair are both underrated
Flew with them earlier in the year for the first time and I must admit the experience wasn't too bad. Seats were comfortable and the food and drinks service was spot on 👍
I don't find them that cheap. Flying as a couple return Bordeaux-Malaga return in March was almost 400€. I hate the fact that there's no seat back pockets to put things in, water bottle etc.
I just dump my rubbish on the floor. Not my problem. I am not holding a soiled napkin fir two hours until the scratch card monkey walks by.
Because the flight time is usually less than the time you spend trying to avoid being TRICKED into extras while booking and checking in to a flight.
Exactly. A couple of time they just cancelled a fligh and changed if with the same exact flight so that people who booked months in advance had to rebook and spend more on the exact same flight
I go on Ryanair all the time and its not bad
Not always. Our MAN-GOT-STD trip this summer is coming in, with checked luggage, £200+ cheaper than the equivalent with BA. We always did what we could to help passengers as they were paying a premium price. You get what you pay for.
Now those are some first world country problems. How lazy can you be?

Ryanair is amazing value if you are flying solo with only hand luggage and everything goes smoothly.
If you are flying in groups/as a family, they will purposely spread you around the plane to make you pay a shit ton extra to select seats to sit together.
And if something goes wrong and you end up stranded or lose luggage etc. then Ryanair are basically like “lol tough shit bro” whilst legacy airlines generally try to help you out as best they can.

Same i flew at ryan air when i went to europe it was pretty fun and the landings were funny .
