    Thanks for a great informative video!! I have never owned an Olight flashlight but considering this for EDC. I would love to have a good explananation of CRI that you mention. So far not really understanding what I read on the web.

    • @ChrispyThings
      @ChrispyThings  2 года назад +5

      Color rendering index. It’s used to measure the ability of light to show the appearance of colors in comparison to natural light.
      Basically it’s how accurate the light source is to the actual color it claims to be.
      So if a light is 5000k, a high CRI of 90 or above will accurately replicate that 5000k.
      A green tint is typical of low CRI lights.
      I work in the film industry and high CRI lights are super important. A green tint to a daylight balanced lamp would look terrible on camera.
      It’s the reason why higher CRI lights are more expensive than lower.
      There’s also TLCI which is used for television and considered more accurate than CRI

      @@n8yt id agree if USB C could charge faster ( it probably can) but then you lose the waterproof rating Id think. I have Nitecore HC30 and the battery itself is micro USB. I think once you have ports on the actual outer casing the water or sand proof goes way down. Just an opinion. Maybe they sell aftermarket Batteries that are direct USB-C similar to the HC 30 battery i have.

    Olight had complaints about the proximity sensor and the new ones like I received doesn't have it. I like the cool white over Neutral White, it's brighter and beam throws further than the Neutral white.

    180 + 25 minutes
    Does the above mean on medium- it’s 600 lumens for 180 minutes and then it drops to 120 lumens for 25 minutes?

    How does the beam compare to the Olight Seeker 4 Pro? I mean obviously the Seeker is brighter but is the hotspot bigger or smaller on the Baton 3 Pro compared to the Seeker 4 Pro?
    I want a light with the exact same floody HUGE hotspot beamprofile as the Seeker 4 Pro, but in a smaller more EDC friendly fornat.
    I recently bought the Warrior Mini 3, but I didn't like the tight hotspot. It does not suit my needs as an EDC since I mostly use a flashlight to light up the path I'm walking on directly at my feet or for closeup illumination. I DON'T want a small hotspot for that!
    I absolutely loved the form factor of the Warrior Mini 3 though! It's the perfect EDC light in every way, except for the tight hotspot 😂

  • @jberts3141

    Yeah baton pro has a high of 600 lumens for a run time of 3.5 hours. Still better. Even if you wanted to compare the s2r2 at 400 lumens with a run time of 4 hours is still better than the B3P at 600 lumens with a run time of 2.5 hours. Warrior mini is 500 lumens at 3.5 hours. All of these lights are just about the same size yet I feel the latest version with the B3P is lacking.

      I use moonlight at night when I need to read something but done need the extra lumens or want to blind anyone near me. Its very useful

    • @MSM4U2POM
      @MSM4U2POM 2 месяца назад

      @@ChrispyThings I'm comparing moonlight mode on the S3 Pro with that of an S20 Baton which I bought back in 2015. Both are nominally 0.5 lumens, but there is a world of difference between the two. With the older torch, moonlight mode is a genuinely useful beam of light with which you can easily navigate the house at night; with the S3 Pro it's so weak you can barely see your feet.
      I take your point about reading and being courteous to other people, but I personally can't see much use for moonlight mode on the S3 Pro. If it were twice as bright you could use it for finding your way around in the dark, and still use for the purposes you mentioned. Normally Olight are excellent judges in this respect, but this is an exception. It needs to be far brighter IMHO.

    Great review! Here is a very nerdy and picky thought (only read if you are nerdy enough 😁)
    Here it goes: I have noticed that on other reviews where the flashlight/torch has a bare metal part (silvery surface and not matte black or other finish), you measure the temperature without changing emissivity on your IR thermometer? You do say that your temp tests aren't 100% scientific, but it can change the temp reading quite a lot when going from bare metal to anodized och painted black surface (it also changes when measuring on matte or blank surfaces). Is that something you could add to heighten the quality of the reviews even more? Another "solution" would be to not tell the temp in a more accurate reading than "90-ish degrees Fahrenheit" or something (or at least omit the decimal). It is a bit like when people look at their $3 thermometer and say "it is 67 point 2 degrees outside", no way that reading is accurate.
    **** end of nerdy nit pickin' 😁
    I do have liked and subscribed so I'm not all that bad 😁

      Thanks for the input.
      And I’m probably not going to add anything extra apart from what I already do.
      I’m not a scientist, I just like flashlights.
      And as long as someone has a general idea of temp, that’s good enough for me.
      Plus these videos are the longest to produce for me. Adding extra stuff that only a few people would care about is for another channel, not mine.
      But once again, thanks for the info and sub

    I won’t buy any device with a proprietary charging base. Thrown away too many expensive lights for this plus I don’t want to carry it with the light. Not Pro. USB-C would be Pro.
    USB, high CRI, no STUPID turbo mode, and waterproof for the win.
