I was going through Ms. Phyllis' recipes, making sure I didn't miss a step on her Christmas cookies and this one popped up. Y'all, i stopped on cookies, and started writing this one! I'm a terrible cook but with Ms. Phyllis' step by step instructions, I'm getting better. But I'm sure no where as good as hers. I do miss listening to her, stories, recipes, everything. Thank you!
I am just addicted to your channel and videos!! I adore you. I wish I had a mother like you growing up. You rock ma'am! I'm s nkther of 4 grown sons and s grandmother to a two year old. I still enjoy learning how to cook old fashioned recipes. It never gets old
Miss Phyllis, i was put in the hospital this last week, and I got bored, and went on youtube, and found your video;s, and Mr Buckys, and I love them, I even follow the morning pray's and love the way Dr Edwards speak, So easy for me to follow along, I will be moving to Tennessee so and maybe someday I will come across y'all some day,
I use to melt the hamburger grease and put a little in the dogs food, she had such bad dry skin, so it was bacon grease or hamburger grease. Helped with constipation for her too.
Just this last year I started freezing the butter and using a large grater to grate the butter into my flour, worked well, wish I knew about it year ago, I can't even remember where I learned it, I love your youtube. thank you for your hard work.
Oh my. This looks absolutely delicious! I will make this For sure! You are a excellent cook and a wonderful lady! I really enjoy all your videos! I am not a morning person either. You have so many wonderful recipes! Thanks for all the hard work you put into all of your videos! And I love your dogs! They are so adorable! I am a dog person also! And I am a Christian lady too! I love to watch Mr.Buckys teachings from the Bible. Just watched one yesterday about Angels and Jacob's ladder. Thanks to you both! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That really looks delicious, thank you for sharing.the recipe. I have used that same crust for years for my chicken pot pie. I never knew that Old Bay could be used in so many dishes. I never bothered to look at the ingredients just always associated it with seafood!
I knew that Old Bay didn’t set well with my stomach, but it never occurred to me that it had cardamom in it, which I’m highly allergic to. So, as usual, I’ve learned something new from your videos!
Thanks for showing me how to make a big crust. I have managed a pie crust before, but this video REALLY helped because this is the first time I have ever seen anyone actually make a crust. I had just read directions. Time for some fun!

I make a pie crust very similar to yours. I've never thought about using saran wrap when I roll out the dough. That is a fabulous idea I can't wait to try it next time.
I live in mining country where "pasties" have been a staple for miners for years. They are so popular, even grocery delis sell them. Locals have adapted pasties, which are enclosed in a pocket of crust, to a pie version. It is made with ground meat or small pieces of steak, carrots, onions, potatoes, and optional rutabaga. Bottom and top crust, dot with butter before putting top crust on and bake for 1hr 45 mins. Everything is assembled raw, so easier than your version, although it doesn't have a sauce to it. So yummy. I consider ketchup mandatory with it.
Miss Phyliss I am new to you tube. I am your number one fan thank you thank you thank you for all you wonderful shows and I want you to know I think of you as a friend
That looks good Phyllis, I think my only modifications would be to add some aujus powder to the sauce,it adds a lot of beef flavor,a small white onion and some peas.
Making this for Sunday dinner, thanks Phyllis. (I have to admit, I will probably cheat and use a premade pie crust) Won't be as wonderful as yours, but I am sure it will still be pretty darn tasty. Hugs to you and Mr. Bucky (He is a lucky man, and I expect he knows it)

I love all your videos Phyllis but I think my all time favorite is The Discussion on What's for Supper. It was so funny to listen to Mr. Bucky's calorie burning workout. Do you think there will be more videos like that?
I love my White Lilly Flour!!That's the only flour I use! Your pie looks awesome Mrs. Phyllis! I'm going to try that crust and pie recipe, Thank you and God Bless you! Is the tea green tea?
Phyllis, if I run away from home may I live with you and Mr. Bucky? I can be your live-in RN, wash dishes, clean house, pick veggies and walk the dogs for 3 hots and a cot. I'm not sure how my hubby, 2 kids, mother and 3 cats would like it but my taste buds would love it. Love your channel!
Hey Phillis! I so love your channel! Good downhome cookin without all the bells and whistles. I have a suggestion for you if you have never tried it... for a meat pie( I use it on bottom crusts) add one or two tsps of finely minced onion when you add in your wet ingredients or better yet, mix it into them before adding. I really takes a meat pie to a different level. Try it at least once. You can add more onion if you like it next time.
I really like to watch your recipes and often copy them down and I think you’re a great cook. There is one thing that I do not like that you do and that is that you show the containers that the food came in or the container that you are going to cook in. It makes me feel like you think we are stupid and you have to treat us like a little kid.
This is absolutely delicious. I didn't have green onion so I used a WallaWalla onion -and a leek along with a clove of grated garlic. This is a recipe I will be proud to share. Thanks for the video.
Miss Phyllis,I already know this will be delicious ! I'm anxious to try it. Have you ever tried , measuring out your flour then putting it in the freezer for a while to get it really cold ? I'm 81 years old and have terrible arthritis, which causes me to be slow in all that I do, and this is one of the things that I do to help me keep my pie dough cold. I love your videos and want to thank you for sharing your life with us, I'm hoping to see some videos of you and Mr Bucky going somewhere in your diesel pusher RV. You did an amazing job of redoing the interior of it ! Is there anything you can't do ? You just amaze me !! Oh, and by the way I loved the video of Mr Bucky cooking !! Thank you , may you both be Blessed always !
I have tried putting the flour in the freezer in the past but I guess sometimes it's just too much trouble. Thank you for the lovely comment. At 81 if you are still moving you're doing really well.
Miss Phyllis, Thank you for taking the time to reply to my comment I know you have many, many comments and are a very busy lady, so I do appreciate you taking the time to answer me .Thanks again, may you both be blessed !!

I make a similar one with steak sliced thin...almost stir fry pieces. I add onions and mushrooms and potatoe chunks boiled til a little soft(potato salad size) I saute the mushrooms and onions and cook the steak a little. I use a premade dough on top and bottom of a pie dish. Cook at 350 until pie crust is golden. It's super good in the winter. Ketchup is good drizzled on individual pieces once done. 😊
Phyllis, when you had the crust covered with plastic wrap after you rolled it out, you could have rolled it up and put it in the fridge, the just unrolled it, removed the plastic wrap and put it on your pot pie. :-)
+Phyllis Stokes I'm British so We don't have hamburger meat here & I'm just wondering is hamburger meat literally a pork product, like pork mince? or is it just another word for beef mince? I know We have pork sausage meat but I doubt it's that is it? I love all your videos by the way. +Phyllis Stokes Ah, it's beef then. I did see another of Yours afterwards where I thought "I'm sure that's minced beef" (ground beef, you know, same thing) Thanks. Interesting. I should Google why They call it that.
Rebekah Joanne Legion Hi, just to answer your question about the hamburger... Yes it is the same as your beef mince. It's beef that has been ground up or minced as u would say. Hope this helps. :)
omg how much we have in comman >> just made chicken pot pie,, thinking about doing hamburg pie have not made this in awhile good old comfort food thks for sharing >>
Have you ever used Bisquick as a shortcake. If you want to call it that? There was a friend's Mom that used boxes of that stuff for everything. Especially her hamburger pies and pizza pies she made weekly. A Mother of 6 kids originally from the hills of Kentucky. She could stretch a dollar.
SimonaLyne Enderz I think I’d prefer a homemade crust but I can see your point if stretched for time or money. In fact, I think there are “homemade” bisquik recipes online.

Phyllis I had a question I was just curious about. I noticed in your videos (which I love by the way!) you and Mr. Bucky eat lunch around 3 o'clock. Do you eat dinner or do you just do your smoothie and then just a late lunch.
We have the smoothies every morning and then the next meal is at around 3:00pm. Sometimes we have a little something to eat around 7:00 or 8:00pm. Usually that would be more like a little snack. Our doctor is very much in favor of just having two meals a day and no snacks - while initially I didn't agree with him we are both now convinced that this works for us.
Phyllis Stokes I think the 2 meal a day idea is excellent....we already started with the smoothies...and the 3:30 or 4:00 pm meal is also a good idea...I just feel better if I don’t go to bed after a heavy meal...now if I can just convince my hubby about the “work exercise”...he’s just not coming around on that idea yet..lol....but honestly it’s just good common sense..
Hey phillis was watching you cook a hamburger pie and I noticed when u were making the crust on your stove the tile u have in front of the stove the gray tile I noticed a skull on your video have u noticed it.
Wow yes the Skull it's there and to the right it looks like cartoon pic of man on the moon.l looked again and looks like scrooge with a hat .how strange I had to go back and look. How many more can we spot on the tiles. l wonder if anyone else has noticed it.well spotted.xxx🙏
I will absolutely be trying this recipe Miss Phyllis. Looks so very 😋 delicious! I wanted to ask you why do you put the grease in your garden? What does that do? I have learned so very much from your videos, and would like to share yet another good tip. Thank you for all the awesome videos.
Oh no Miss Phyllis, I am so embarrassed. My hearing is not what it used to be. I apologize. Thank you so much for responding I greatly appreciate your time. Big hugs from Texas!❤😉
This video was made 4 1/2 years ago so I don't remember what dressing I used but if I had to guess I would say from the looks of it I probably only used a little drizzle of vinegar.
I enjoy your show. I am looking for a yeast bread recipe. On baking day my mom made 2 bread loafs a dozen dinner rolls and a dozen fried bread cakes. The same dough for all three. The rolls and loafs had to be aloud to rise twice but the fried bread only once. Whatever was left after forming loafs and rolls was flattened into pancake size pieces and fried. Do you have a recipe that would do this?
Mindy Ammon Hi, you can use a layer om mashed potatoes (like shepherds' pie), or layer refrigerator biscuits ( you know, from a can) or you could use a bag of frozen hash browns etc. sleep on it, something will come to you. Good luck
Mindy. If you have a gluten allergy, then I’d suggest a gluten-free flour. Now, I’ve never tried this type of flour, but I have heard others who are gluten-free brag on it. You might try Bobs Red Mill. I understand it is substituted one for one. Read the bag. They sell it at nearly every big supermarket. The other suggestions from Patricia of mashed potatoes or hash browns sound great as substitutions.
Question Ms Phyllis You stated that you were going to put the pie in a 425 degree oven and that is what the instructions say to do. Then, afterwords you stated 325 degrees while showing us the finished dish. Can you correct this, please? Thank you, ma’am.
I believe she explained one time that she is allergic if she inhales the pepper, but not ingest it, so she is just careful not to inhale it when using it....
Along time ago and my mom and dad were still married an ally my mother made this recipe for milk Toast I don’t know a lot about it but I do know it’s toast with milk I believe the milk is hot have you ever made it? could you please make it and show me how? If your brain's like mine, you've noticed professional chefs never scrape the bowl...and I'm thinking: 1. the remnant you just left in the bowl could hold more nutritional value than all that that you just rolled out 2. all that that you just rolled out is made up of hundreds of nuggets just like what you left in the bowl: nuggets plus nuggets equal the whole recipe, so how is it you just left some nuggets behind?
Never heard of this but I’m going to try it. Thank you Steve for keeping this channel going.

Usually that would be more like a little snack. Our doctor is very much in favor of just having two meals a day and no snacks - while initially I didn't agree with him
we are both now convinced that this works for us.
Thanks Phyllis!
Phyllis Stokes I have two meals as well, I just don't require as much food as when I was young.
I did not say I put the grease in the garden I said" I put it in the garbage".
Oh no Miss Phyllis, I am so embarrassed. My hearing is not what it used to be. I apologize. Thank you so much for responding I greatly appreciate your time. Big hugs from Texas!❤😉
yum
Another question, please. What type of salad dressing is this and is this what you usually use when making a salad?
This video was made 4 1/2 years ago so I don't remember what dressing I used but if I had to guess I would say from the looks of it I probably only used a little drizzle of vinegar.
Phyllis Stokes Again, thank you for the prompt response.
I have lots of videos on making bread from French bread to sweet rolls and even one on Bear Claws.
Can you make it with out crust I can't have it Phyillis
Mindy Ammon Hi, you can use a layer om mashed potatoes (like shepherds' pie), or layer refrigerator biscuits ( you know, from a can) or you could use a bag of frozen hash browns etc. sleep on it, something will come to you. Good luck
mindy of course u can plus u can delete the potato, carrot, onions, and hamburger. just drink a big glass of water. ok enjoy!!!!!
All purpose flour. Do you mean, plain flour ? I live in Bham uk, so not sure what you mean by all purpose?
Plain flour is the same as all-purpose flour.
Of you wanted a crust on the bottom part what would you recommend?
Double the crust recipe.
Question Ms Phyllis
You stated that you were going to put the pie in a 425 degree oven and that is what the instructions say to do. Then, afterwords you stated 325 degrees while showing us the finished dish. Can you correct this, please?
Thank you, ma’am.
425 degrees is the correct temperature to get the really brown crust.
I misspoke and have no way to correct that part.
Phyllis Stokes Thank you for the fast response.
why would you use something with black pepper in it if you are extremely allergic to it?
I believe she explained one time that she is allergic if she inhales the pepper, but not ingest it, so she is just careful not to inhale it when using it....
what kind of butter do you use miss phyllis?
Hi Sophia, I use Great Value butter from Walmart it's the salted kind. I feel like butter is butter as long as it has a good expiration date.
I think old bay has salt.
Do additional veggies taste good along with it? Like celery and peas?
Hello

+Phyllis Stokes I've never had the nerve to make a pie crust. But you've convinced me.
I think I just use bisquick on top.

What about giving the grease to the dog's?
Hey ✌ 👋 u better friend me ! ? I'm 63 not savvy with high tech 😤 sorry to hear about husband 😔
