As someone who's not intimately familiar with all the lore - I hadn't picked up on any of this. Hadn't even considered it a red herring because I'm not looking for Sauron in the series!
Sadoc is Sauron. Lenny Henry deserves a part he can really run with, and, hey, going from hobbit nerd to master of Mordor would be just ridiculously fun to watch.
So glad I was avoiding internet commentary on this show, and that I'm naive. Figuring it out during the last episode about 20 minutes before the reveal was one of the only highlights of the season.
That sentence in jail makes sense for someone who makes the ring wraiths. I could not understand how sauron got the elves to make the rings. I always wondered how his powers of seduction worked on the Elves. It would be a great arc for Gadriel, just maybe this interaction sets her free from her brothers death. I think this would actually be a excellent twist.
I thought that the elves made their rings AFTER Sauron left for Morder, so Celebrimbor was able to remove his influence from them (although this might just be twaddle idk)
@@mattyhew5121 There's a lot of ring making going on sauron made 9 rings with celebrimbor gave them out to elves, dwarfs, men then he went to mordur to make the one ring, as soon as the elves felt the power of the one they took off the rings and made the 3 that Gandalf, Gladriel and Elron wear. That's my interpretation of it (from RUclips ers).
@@malfy8369 Yh, it seems to be both our opinions. Sauron had a direct hand in making the nine and seven while Celebrimbor made the three alone, negating any negative effects from Sauron (without the one ring). But (as you said) once the elves sensed the creation of the one ring, they took their rings off until Sauron had lost the one ring, where they were free to use them (still wearing the rings while the one ring was being worn could damage their minds and give the bearer looks into the three bearers minds). Unknowing to Sauron, he intended all 16 to be given to the remaining elves of middle-earth and was furious when he learned of the creation of three for the elves (Celebrimbor intended to make more I think but was attacked in Eregion before he could). Sauron took 15 of the 16 (one had been given to the dwarves in Khazad-Dum already by the elves) and gave them to men and dwarves while the elves hid the three. Also, Celebrimbor was able to give each elven ring specific powers because he made them independently of Sauron (water, fire and air).
@@marisbury The elves were also not entirely incorruptible (the orcs were once elves) so Sauron's shapeshifting into Annatar and his deception worked on some (like Celebrimbor) but not others. Although, Sauron remained undiscovered as Annatar until the one ring was made and the elves realised the deception
Saurons crafting ability comes from the fact he can infuse his will, heart and soul into his work. Only other person to have that gift in abundance was Feanor. When the Valar asked for his Silmarils he said he couldn't part with them because "it would break his heart". Literally, Feanor would have died if he parted with them potentially. No matter how good a person is, imprinting your very signature into your work is something which is part of you or it's not.
Sauron and Numenor have an interesting theory. That's all I'm saying. Go and read up on Sauron's history as a shapeshifter. He took on many "fair" or "good" forms after the fall of Morgoth, then became the Sauron we know once Numenor fell.
Damn, even having read the books and picked up on the differences I was had until the final episode. Slowly piecing together who was who but not nearly this early. Bravo!
How does it feel to be completely vindicated? You were right, they weren't intelligent enough to hide this well at all. Nor the Totally-Not-Gandalf Stranger lol
Good theory, and very possible, he did suddenly become "King of the Southlands" in the last episode. I think the Stragner is also possibly Saruman. However ROP takes place in the middle of the second age and the books canon indicates Saruman, and later Gandalf, came around 1,000 year mark of the third age. The blue wizards were sent to Middle Earth during the second age. So I have a feeling that the Stranger is one of the three blue wizards, or the shows writers want to write Saruman in somehow and maybe go that route. I also think the three white clothed beings following him are necessarily bad, even though they burned the Harfoots wagons (keep in mind the Harfoots came after them with fire and threatened them first).
The old strange man is Gandalf. The way he wispered to those light-bugs, and the fact that Gandalf loves the Hobbits...here you have why. Ancestrals of the Hobbits were the first ones that he met on Middle Earth, and helped him.
It's him, after last episode.. he interacting with Adar.. asking if he remembered him and stuff like that, when Adar was the one that taught he "killed" Sauron, but he didn't because Sauron can't be killed with physical weapons ☝️

Dangit! I was on my way to figuring this out on my own after just refreshing myself on the lore of Sauron. Wanted to find the lectures on Tolkien by a professor I heard decades ago. I was reading how Sauron can shapeshift into and appear as anyone to the different races and men. I guess we won't get his "Annatar" disguise which was what I was thinking they were going to go with. Very cool. But, this does raise some questions about how he ended up on that ship. Was it just a fluke it sank and he and Galadriel met. Is he just taking the opportunity as it comes.
After Morgoth's banishment, Sauron was brought before the Valar and was forgiven, if I remember correctly. For a time, he was or pretended to be changed, but then he ran away from Valinor to conquer Middle-Earth. Maybe she jumped him at the door.

This Sounds good but make No Sense to the Story, Halbrand is a char where isnt in the books. Sauron choose an elvish Body to hide himself, yes he is friendly and respectfull to everyone Like Halbrand. hmm we will See i think that Halbrand let us know that he is Sauron
That's because the writing is terrible and the show sucks arse.
@@mattsrealitycheck6669 your opinion and no they have No rights to use the 3 movies or the books only sidetexts from lotr 1-3 books they cant usw silma or Others Things with that i will See you Made it better

i think he sees her as someone who can get him what he needs, she is a VERY powerful ally to have. Halbrand going overboard to save her after just sacrificing the others proves this.
Well if you view it as a classicist society a bunch of peasant sailors are likely worth less than a magical elf who has probably spent 100s of years making deals just like you.
So he’s Sauron after all.
In Sauron's mind, he is only trying to bring order, not really evil like Morgoth. As they showed with Adar being almost sympathetic, I think they are trying to show that good and evil are shades of grey
this is what i think theyre going for with sauron
I believe this could of been possible, but not anymore. The series is off, Galadriel never had these adventures in any Tolkien book. Sauron came back as an elf during this timeline, corrupted Numenor, dies during the wave that destroys that island. Comes back (? human) befriending the elf's, corrupts the 3 rings made, is found out and flees.
turns out we were all right
You're good. You picked up a lot more clues than I did. I wasn't shocked, especially with the heavy clues in the final episode, but I hadn't realized it as early as you did!
So they choose an discount Aragon looking guy to be Sauron. Perfect.
Sauron may be evil but he's not a liar.
Knowing Amazon they'll prolly make him the " tall , blonde , evil white guy
would you prefer someone short and dark haired and non- white instead ? that doesn't sound menacing !
@@Talvekuningas well considering everyone laughed at the eminem looking guy from the trailers I'd say no ( and the fact Sauron couldn't blend in as well if he would stand out as much ... )
Just ask the sea. It’s always right apparently.
"Identify what your opponent most fears...."
Not me suddenly realizing I've done the samething.
This man was totally right
After I finished the first season.
I went back and watch it all over again. Dang! He try to tell that he was Sauron many many time. 😱
This aged like fine wine
Well… That’s Sauron
It is him, when he talks about bad things he did and because of it he cannot return, what he did was revealed by Oren leader of the orcs how he sacrificed his children for Sauron to find the dark knowledge or key to it but it was not enough, so he got bored or felt guilty of fruitless sacrifice of his loyal fallowers and their children yet not achieved his goal now the object was found and activation happened he can start his work of creating the ring after all he is blacksmith.
How would galadriel react when she finds out her fanaticism of defeating her enemy has unknowingly rekindled the fire in Sauron to fight again 😂😂😂😂😂
"However, I don't think the writers are intelligent enough to pull that off"
LMFAO SUBBED
I think that sauron is disguised as the producer of this show.
Hes figured out how to finally destroy middle earth.....
Actually in this Galadriel is a control freak and really kind of mean and a bit vain, maybe Sauron replaced her and is seeking power, then the real Galadriel will arrive and be the awesome warrior elf with a touch of grace...one can only hope... :D
As someone who's not intimately familiar with all the lore - I hadn't picked up on any of this. Hadn't even considered it a red herring because I'm not looking for Sauron in the series!
He was there in the fortress she went to in episode 1. He followed her to Valinor and thats when he ‘saved’ her knowing she would jump off.
I feel so vindicated because none of my friends believed me when I said he was Sauron!
Damn, I thought I was watching Game of Thrones for a second. They really skullfucked Tolkien's legacy, didn't they.
Not to mention this guy let the other castaways die in the sea
And somehow survived.
i think the other castaways and the dragon were also made by sauron to get galadriel's good graces and a ticket into númenor
@@garrusv we literally see him untie his portion of the raft lol
Sadoc is Sauron. Lenny Henry deserves a part he can really run with, and, hey, going from hobbit nerd to master of Mordor would be just ridiculously fun to watch.
I was thinking SAURON was a shapeshifter.
So glad I was avoiding internet commentary on this show, and that I'm naive. Figuring it out during the last episode about 20 minutes before the reveal was one of the only highlights of the season.
You nailed it!
He promised Celebrimbor to reinstate Valinor in Middle Earth basically, make an eternal undying forest.
Damn bro you were right 😂🔥🔥
Oops, it's confirmed he is Sauron
The intent is to provide us with a sense of pride and accomplishment for finding Sauron.
Halbrand is actually an anagram of Tom Marvolo Riddle.
I think Sauron is that big scary guy in pointy armor from the first scene actually
I honestly think the writers thought that we’d never see Halbrand coming. They haven’t exactly been humble throughout the making of this show.
This video aged well....

Dorwinion's a bit far away.
Pov: hallbrand is not sauron, that boy is. We still doesn't know about his father...
Sauron and Numenor have an interesting theory. That's all I'm saying. Go and read up on Sauron's history as a shapeshifter.
He took on many "fair" or "good" forms after the fall of Morgoth, then became the Sauron we know once Numenor fell.
Just watched this video on Oct 15th, RUclips has flagged this as inappropriate and verified if I want to continue watching it or not 🤔
Pretty unbelievable, isn't it?
Good job!
Damn, even having read the books and picked up on the differences I was had until the final episode. Slowly piecing together who was who but not nearly this early. Bravo!
this aged very well
Nah I still think Galadriel is Sauron in Amazon's version
Ironically, this is spot on.
The golden text around his shirt reminds me of the words written along the band of a certain ring...
How does it feel to be completely vindicated? You were right, they weren't intelligent enough to hide this well at all. Nor the Totally-Not-Gandalf Stranger lol
snoke is sauron
Well if he isn't Sauron he's most definitely the witch king at least
He is Sauron!!
Lol How do your words taste after episode 8?
Like victory.
LOL
Stranger is definitely Gandalf, made the FOLLOW YOUR NOSE quote by end of finale.
The old strange man is Gandalf. The way he wispered to those light-bugs, and the fact that Gandalf loves the Hobbits...here you have why. Ancestrals of the Hobbits were the first ones that he met on Middle Earth, and helped him.
This aged well... So So So... So well
It's been Halbrand all along
And he is Sauron lol.
It's him, after last episode.. he interacting with Adar.. asking if he remembered him and stuff like that, when Adar was the one that taught he "killed" Sauron, but he didn't because Sauron can't be killed with physical weapons ☝️
But why would he ask Adar if he remembered him(Halbrand)? How can someone remember someone that doesn’t look like themselves?
@@NotTellingYou- there's always the inner essence, and Adar was the first to ask "do I know you?" Like he felt that he'd known him
@@WorldsWorstEntertainmentWWE he’s answering a question with question. Where someone asks if you remember them but you don’t think you do, so you ask “do I know you?” expecting that person to tell you how you would know them…
@@NotTellingYou- but Halbrand didn't answer right away, when Adar asked him, he didn't said anything, just got away. Later on he told Adar if he remembered him
Just go check the last photo that the tv show posted on IG. You have every main character, Halbrand is there, but not in human form 😏
Bravo sir, you called it
Maybe she jumped him at the door.
considering how they deviate from the original source material i won't be surprised if halbrand is indeed a red herring and sauron will be some random new char introduced out of nowhere...
Sexy Sauron gonna be sexy.
