    Your comment on high quality aluminum frame vs low quality carbon is spot on.

    • @TheBicycleRider
      @TheBicycleRider  4 года назад +23

      Yes , I have seen some pretty low carbon frames used and people buy into them just because of the word carbon. On the other hand I have seen people not want to use an aluminum frame because they don't understand just how high quality aluminum frame can be in this day and age. Thank you for your comment

    This is a very accurate review. This bike is amazing. You are receiving a lot for the money you are spending. It is important to highlight that the main component of a bicycle is the one who rides it. That being said, if you have the power in your legs, you can be very fast with this bike. The fact that it comes with Claris does not make a big difference. I have had the chance to be a lot faster than guys who ride super expensive and light bikes. So if your budget does not allow you to pay for a higher level bike, DO NOT WORRY. This wonderful rocket will be almost as good as one of those with more advanced and lighter Shimano groupsets.

    Great road bike for the money! I've had this bike for about two months now, the only thing I have an issue with is the 8-speed, I am upgrading it to an 11-speed drive asap. Other than that it performs amazing! Even on a solid 25 or 35 mile ride.

    • @TheBicycleRider
      @TheBicycleRider  4 года назад +5

      Just curious what kind of problems you had with the 8-speed. The two bikes that I have been personally testing with the 8-speed seem to be very solid. We have had to make a few adjustments with the limit screws on both the front and the rear derailleur but this is something that the local bicycle shop should take care of for you before you even take possession of the bike. Thank you for your comment and once again just curious what kind of problems you had with the 8-speed? Thank you

    No question - a well-made, modern aluminum frame ist ten times better than a mediocre carbon frame. This said, it is equally true that all the attention on high-end components often just miss the point. For 95% of cyclists, the latest generation Shimano 105 or Tiagra is more than you'll ever need.

    But if you take your time and search on the web and know how to build/work on a bike..I just did a budget build with a brand new Motobecane Super Strada semi compact Aluminum frame carbon fork road bike with 11spd 105 R7000 group-set. Ultegra R8000 rim calipers brakes. Oval Concepts 527 wheels. Cannondale C2 ergo bars. C2 stem. Oval.Carbon seat post. Jagwire cables. Conti 4000 tires.. All for slightly over 900$. Weighs about 18 1/5 lbs. Bike kicks butt .
    I really liie the R7000 group. Shimano did an excellent job on the 105 R7000. Just as good as Ultegra imo

    Hi can I have your expert opinion on bike sizes? So I bought my Allez E5 last year and been riding it to this day and enjoyed it. I got a sz 54 allez and my height is 5'7. Im still very new to the sport so when I bought the bike my only reference for right size was the spez bike chart so I was torn between size 52 and 54 since both of them would fit me. Eventually I went for the 54. But after a few group rides some of my friends told me that it was big for me some said its just fine. Note that I haven't been actually bike fitted but planning on it soon. Maybe you could shed some opinion?

    • @TheBicycleRider
      @TheBicycleRider  4 года назад

      Well you have a couple good questions. As far as the 28th go if you get this specialized Roubaix 25/28 they will fit. If you just get it straight up Continental 28 or something similar You may have fitment issues. Also the rear cassette can support an 11-speed cassette there is a spacer installed that you will have to remove but then again you will also have to upgrade the shifters and derailleur it's almost easier to buy an 11-speed bike to start with if that's what you really want. Don't worry this 10-speed gear range is really good I can ride with the fastest groups around with this 10-speed gearing.

    Is the Allez Sport worth the extra money? What top speed have you reached on your bike on flat ground?

    • @TheBicycleRider
      @TheBicycleRider  4 года назад +9

      The Allez sport I think is a fantastic value the truth is really the whole Alkez line is really value packed, each tear you go up is worth the money. The base Allez it's such a good platform to start with for $875 but as you go up to the allez sport for $1,000 You get a few more performance parts such as the 9-speed Sora and axis caliper brakes. Not to say that the Shimano claris 8-speed is not good or the brakes are not good on the base everything works fantastic but each step up you're going to get a little bit better components. In my opinion it's always worth going up a step if you can afford it. It's much easier and inexpensive to do it when you buy a bike new than it is to add components later. I've seen a lot of people buy a perfectly good brand new bike at a value price and then start pumping a lot of money into it where if they were to just buy the higher tier in the beginning they would have been all set and the long run it cost more money to upgrade a new bike than to just buy the bike you want. As far as top speed there's a lot of factors that play into that but the Allez is a very fast platform and gets to speed super quick. In the beginning of the year I was in the peloton of a very fast group many which had bikes in the $10,000 range I was on a base Allez and recorded a 36 mile an hour top speed. Once again I was in the bunch so aerodynamics had much to play in that number.

    • @TheBicycleRider
      @TheBicycleRider  4 года назад

      Well that is a good question I'll try to keep my answer short but basically I try to buy the best bike and I can afford at the time because upgrades cost more down the road. The base model of this bike is fantastic but as you go up in price to the different levels you get higher tiered components. Each tear you go up the bike is a little bit better and a little bit faster and a little bit lighter. Sometimes these upgrades cost more down the road especially if you have to pay a bicycle shop too do the work. Some people say it's not the The bike is the motor but as bikes evolve I tend to disagree with that statement get the best bike you can afford You won't regret it in the end.

    Any advice on which you would choose out of this and the Giant Contend 2 2020 ?

      Jack Wilkinson I believe the frame welds on he Contend are smoother and thus look more like carbon.

  • @jonathancastillo3878
    @jonathancastillo3878 4 года назад +3

    I have the elite and these axis brakes are really bad. I mean really bad. My 440$ almost 1000$ cheaper hybrid brakes way better it's sad. Just ordered 105 calipers front and rear for it for only 80$ so it should be better after.

      Thanks for your comment we value the opinions of people who actually have ridden this bike. Maybe I got lucky but personally I didn't have problems with the stock breaks but I do have to agree that the 105's are awesome for the price! Glad you got your bike sorted out and are able to stop better.

    What’s the difference between this and the sport model witch is about 200 more I’m looking to get my first road bike

    • @TheBicycleRider
      @TheBicycleRider  4 года назад +2

      Hi Brad I'd have to do a comparison side by side but I believe it's just the component specs are upgraded a bit on the sport. I'm sure it's shifters and derailers. I'll confirm this later as I'm just having my first cup of coffee in the morning but the frame is the same on both bikes. Sometimes the little jumps do make a difference though.

      @@irishman485 , trying to look into this now for you but the specialized website is having problems. When I get to the bicycle shop today I'll look at the dealer specs and find out exactly what the difference is for you. It's nice that the jump from the base to the sport is only a couple hundred bucks without looking exactly at what the difference is I would almost say do it! sometimes the little jump in price now means a big jump in price later if you try to do it upgrade. It's always a better value to do it at the time of purchase than to try to upgrade parts down the road especially if you're not a bicycle mechanic and you have to pay someone else for the labor.

      Because ‘Murica sucks lmao. No but in all seriousness I’m not sure why that is so. I think it’s got something to do with a variety of factors like us inflation and tariffs. Don’t take my word for it though, I’m just a bloke on the internet!

    • @TheBicycleRider
      @TheBicycleRider  4 года назад +1

      Yes they are comparable but there are some solid differences as well The speedster 50 is a good bike and I have ridden one around town and in some group rides but in my personal opinion in the Allez blows it away and speed and comfort. Just my personal opinion but I have ridden both bikes

    This bike was really easy to assemble ruclips.net/user/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.

An orange one which reminds me i need vitamin C and a Grey blue one which is the one i am getting cause is the coolest looking and more tolerable from the other colors. But seriously orange? Geez...
