This is amazing. The older lady on the thumb nail is my Nanna Peg. She always told us she appeared on TV with her hair dyed red for the final but it was before we were born and we never saw it. This is amazing. Thanks for posting it, it’s made our families day spotting this.
This was a time when the FA Cup final was talked about all week leading up to the game. It was huge. It’s also the absolute height of the BBC’s influence on sport.
I remember this game ... back in the day when the whole country stopped for the FA cup final ...now its just another game ... amazing to think the vast amount of trophies Liverpool have won since this day while Newcastle has unfortunately for them won nothing
True. The FA Cup was where the big money could be made so clubs and players made it a priority. Nowadays the money is elsewhere. Make the winning prize money £100m and watch everyone take it seriously again!
Watching this on 4th May 2024, 50 years to the day. I was 9 years old & started supporting Liverpool in 1972. This was my first time to see the reds live on TV. A magic day I will never forget, who would have thought we would have to wait until 1986 to win it again. YNWA 🏆🍺❤
Cyprus. NATO exercise . There was a pause, we watched the tele. RFA Regent. Then we went back to work Asst Cook. Happy Days. Did you ever see the Fonzie in a Onesie?
Level, so offside the moment Lindsay passed it. Even by later interpretations he’d by offside by distracting the defender. That wouldn’t be onside until 1990 when ‘level’ with the second-last defender was allowed. The offside law in the 1970s and earlier were brutal.

She looks like a real character 😊
Just to let you know that you can take a snapshot of the thumbnail of your nan. Just tell any of your children, nephews or nieces. It's simple to do.
Nearly 50 years ago, unbelievable❤
The best descriptive commentary by any commentator anywhere in David Coleman describing the third goal. Pure gold. You know exactly what he means

I was 9 as well
I was happy Liverpool won as Newcastle knocked us out in the Semi final, at Hillsborough.

Somebody in the crowd thought he was in the "One man and his dog" final
"Goals pay the rent.....and Keegan, does his share!"
Newcastle were terrible that day.
Keegan was onside as well.

My Uncle Alec, why offside

Lindsay robbed of a great final goal. He was onside and it came off a Newcastle player.
Level with the second-last defender and so offside the moment Lindsay passed it, per the brutal offside law at the time.
Siempre he tenido un inmenso respeto por Ray Clemence como arquero. Estoy convencido que con él no hubiera sucedido "La mano de Dios"
Newcastle were undressed. Great commentator D.C.
Super drunk didn’t get a kick
Lots of drunks around mate.
Most one sided final ever
