Hey - I’m GenZ; just voted for the first time in 2020. I seriously wonder if this country will make it 2024 let alone 2030. It’s seems like people don’t care about democracy. It’s super scary. 😢
stay strong and trust no one. build yourself and be kind.🙋♂💪🙏😁✌😎
Good job kid! 👍 it works. The margins between winning and losing are so narrow. We need to turn out the vote like crazy so we can pass federal voting rights and reproductive rights
I'm a Boomer. Five years ago I never imagined we would go through what we're going through politically. However, I've been aware of the ecological issues ever since I was a child and knew we were having issues with global warming since the early 80's.
We live in scary times.
I'm glad I don't have any progeny; choices.
I'm a boomer too young one, and I have tried all my life to be part of a solution instead of more of a problem. Together, we are mighty. It's the only way forward. Vote even if that's all you can do. March when you can, where you can; we need to make it impossible for them to avoid hearing our voices.
Make it your mission to register your peers and all go vote together, then go have fun.😃💙🇺🇸🌊🌊🌊🌊
"It's easier to fool people, than to convince them that they have been fooled". - Mark Twain
Well said.
As we have seen since the 2016 election. The more evidence that is presented the deeper some of the Qnuts dig in. Would rather embrace the lies of a cult than admit 45 fooled them hook, line, and sinker. Will make a very interesting psychological study for years to come.
They built a Golden Idol for their Lord, Master & King. Yet they see nothing wrong with this.
Their King committed adultery with a porn star. Yet they do not see how unclean he is.
Their King wishes he could _"Date"._ his own daughter. Yet they see nothing wrong with this.
When they worship a Man who can do no wrong. They are in a "Cult".
Especially when the fooled have brains the size of a walnut. Some of these Trump minions make pigeons look smart.
@Door Rash He credited Twain in the comment..
Fun fact: "Taking the fifth" cannot be used against you in a criminal trial. However, it absolutely can be used against you in other settings.
Thank you so much Seth & Crew! Not only do you seek and speak truth, the humor helps my 70 year old shattered heart. Bravo for speaking truth to Power.
Our reality is nuts. Ten years ago, if a movie came out depicting these events, everyone would say how unrealistic it is. They'd say "How could this possibly happen, and none of the top people are in trouble? That doesn't make sense. They clearly and irrefutably committed these crimes, why are they not getting arrested?" It just wouldn't be believable at all.
And it's not clear that Trump will be prosecuted for any of his crimes - ever. This is the twilight zone, for sure.
There is twilight zone episode about this I believe

Despite the fact that our legal system is based upon the premise of "innocent until proven guilty", the fact that anyone would request a pardon demonstrates that the individual is convinced that they have committed a crime.
In times in which you can literally threaten a secretary of state person to find 11600 votes to tamper with an election result and don't get procecuted for that, what does proof matter ?
They had that 1 hour phone call on tape, so what more proof did they need ?

It wouldn't have come to the January 6th events if the DOJ had acted earlier !
They had all they needed and everybody heard it !
@notfiveo Only against crimes he was pardoned for, if he's committed crimes since then he can plead the fifth
Well, accepting a pardon is an admission that you committed the crime.
No it is not... then explain why the DOJ can use the FBI to arrest people and keep them in prisons for 2-3 years with no access to legal support before being blackmailed to accept a charge in order to be released? Goes on all the time.

As much as I don't want to give anyone like Michael Flynn a pass, pleading the fifth means that if you want to avoid answering one question because it may incriminate you, you have to plead that to EVERY question that is asked of you or else you can not use fifth as shield for the more damning questions. You could ask him if he believed in the good ship lollipop and he would have to take the fifth. This just shows that Cheney and her staffing team knew he would plead the fifth and are using that to their advantage. It's a hell of a prosecutorial tool.

There are also rumors that these agents do not have a good relation with the truth.
Then there is Cassidy who has not really anything to win with her testimony. She can probably forget the career she was working on. And for a long time she will have to deal with threats and safety concerns. I also dont expect she gains anything by making up the steering wheel story. There is no benefit in it for her only negative effects. She has clearly stated that she was not present at the scene. Ofcourse it is possible that she has misunderstood the story told to her. But that is not lying. Until these security agents testify under oath, her story is the story I consider true.
Until the security agents declare under oath I don't take their denial seriously.

OMG!!! Can't believe a former US general would plead the 5th on a question of a peaceful transfer of power! How many other in the military think like this?
That’s what scares me !! And how many are in law enforcement 😱
What I find incredible is that this is news to you. The military and police force are filled with individuals who lean heavily towards fascism.
no too many, i'd expect. generals who work/ worked at the pentagon are a different beast, though. part of indoctrination is getting loyalty to rank/ position over a specific person proverbially beaten into you. most exceptions you find are on the local level, to the squadron/ battalion commander at highest.
now, things might have changed big time since i was in some 20 years ago or so, but loyalty to the nation above all else has been a big thing for the federal army since the reconstruction after the civil war. i cant imagine even trump being allowed to disrupt that, that much.
Hillary Pled the 5th many times... & this is a witch-hunt she helped jinn up... so I fully understand why anyone in Trumps circle asked for pardons & pled the 5th... it was so they don’t get unjustly prosecuted by a committee that is hell bent on disobeying the constitution & the law. - there are thousands of innocent people being held in pre-jail detention in solitary confinement while this all goes on... with their 4th amendment rights stripped... 4 protesters were murdered on j6... 2 cops ended themselves & 1 cop passed from a stroke... there was no national guard called (despite Trump’s request for them to he there) & capitol police were half staffed...
People hate Trump so much that they are willing to throw laws & logic out the window just to go down on the wrong side of history... the people that hunt him are the same people who hurt Jews in ww2... rounded up Japanese in the same time period... racially segregated schools & hanged people as witches... in the future we will all look back on this time & comment on the fact that it all seems so crazy & delusional ... kids will ask... “how didn’t they see the truth?”.... & the same logic will apply to every event in history... “they didn’t want to see the truth”.
@@defectivecanadian4101 He cuckoo, which kinds of questions did Hilary plead the 5th to? Think there's a big difference between agreeing to peaceful transfer of power which has zero repercussions whichever way answer thanks to the 1st.
Lastly, to correct your error: People love Trump so much that they are willing to throw laws & logic out the window just to go down on the wrong side of history... the people that hunt him are the same people who hurt Jews in ww2.
Generally the people who support trump like Proud Boys (remember them chanting "Jews! You will not replace us!) in Charlottesville? Those are fascists. Later conversation implied that the couple had believed in Trump in the beginning (to be fair, they’re 80, white, and live in the south), but lost faith with each scandal. And the hearings have destroyed any tiny shards of remaining trust in him.
So yeah, I think these public hearings ARE helping to change minds. Along with being the funniest of the late night crew (by far), he's also the only one that seems to appropriately and correctly use that word to label these far right politicians.
I just wish people didn't just roll their eyes at the word, and/or expect a long-winded explanation of the word - we need more people to understand what fascism is; how and why it has been at our nation's door these past 7 years, and even bonus rounds of our earlier histoeyb, Founding Fathers and up through Jim Crow where we inspired 20th century European fascist movements with our garbage.
Herschmann & trump yelling for Mel…absolutely priceless. Maybe it’s just me, but despite finding Herschmann’s testimony both succinct & enthralling I found myself listening to it while alternately staring at the panda painting on the wall & his “justice” bat.
And... are those scalps hanging underneath it?
What are the silver things that look like nickel-plated drawer pulls?
Is that bat far behind him or is it a little bat, closer up? And where is he... with that somehow familiar bear painting?
@@JohnDough-yr2zt I don’t know, I definitely stared at those too. At first thought it was a type of ornate faucet, but I’m not sure.
@@crocglox7797 So many questions for sure. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one distracted by it all.
@@JohnDough-yr2zt There was an article about them (and the bear). He's apparently a big art collector. He has 2 boys and a girl--represented by the silver sculptures. I guess they joke about the 'justice' bat being above them.
His signature looks like when you lie when on a Lie Detector. How appropriate!
Eh, those are really more of 'fear detectors' or 'stress detectors'. they'd likely not even work on, for example, a natural liar like Trump. It's literally a measurement of how nervous each question makes you, not of truthfulness. People who BELIEVE in lie detectors do tend to get more nervous about questions they intend to lie about, but it's not a reliable test.
EDIT: That said, it looks like the garden tool he presumably tried to comb his hair with...
Trump's signature looks like scribbling because he doesn't know how to spell.
Trump's signature looks like he practiced a long time to develop a signature that nobody would fake.
It looks like a heart attack on a EKG.
That was last night's joke.
Seth, you need to see the wonderful cinematic masterclass that is CHEQUES by your friends and neighbors, SNL.
There are rules to taking the fifth.
One concerns providing an answer to specific questions
If you do that, you can inadvertently waive your 5th amendment right.
That is why a question may seem ridiculous & a no brainer answer.
You have to be careful.
Y'all, check for when your elections are and mark it in your phone's calendar. Make sure you have up to date and a valid form of identification. Make sure you are at the right voting location. Have no reason for them to deny you to vote. Remind your family and friends and make a plan for going out to vote.
And vote early in-person if you can!! (Ohio starts 30 days out...)🇺🇸
All these comments do my heart such good!
Y all need to get your checkbooks back out to send your trumplord more money🤣🤣
In Colorado, as an active, registered voter, I receive the ballot in the mail automatically several weeks before the official election day. I sit at my dining room table, check for any candidates or ballot initiatives I need to research, and then fill out the ballot at my leisure. I can walk in about 20 minutes to my nearest drop box, but I have several drop boxes scattered around my community to choose from, or I can take it to a polling place, or the county elections office. I can also mail it back or vote in person before or on election day. It's about as easy as possible and it's a secure and reliable way to vote.
@@GoGreen1977 Agree totally with your comment about mail voting. Like getting my ballot at home so like you I can research candidates and ballot initiatives ahead of time. Take much more time than when I was working and went to the polls and surprised at somethings on the ballot so I didn't vote on that candidate or issue. I always return my ballot to our city hall and do not rely on mail. Was so glad when I turned 65 and could do this now everyone has no excuse absentee balloting in MI.
Feel bad for Stormy Daniels.

Ok, so legally, pleading the Fifth on seemingly innocuous questions doesn't mean anything. As Americans, we understand that the right to silence is not an admission of guilt. But what is an admission of guilt is asking for a pardon. In order for a president to give a pardon, there has to have been a crime committed, that's literally what a pardon is. How is it that all of these people asking for presidential pardons are just able to walk away? It's literally an admission of guilt to a crime.
No it's not. They know that Democrats will abuse the judicial system to bring false charges against them, like Flynn and others. They're smart to protect themselves from that.
But that is also a part of the problem, they are not walking away, they think they're going to get reelected. Eyes open America if we are not careful we will be in a dictatorship in 2 years. The supreme Court has already created the
Ununited States of America.
yep and to answer with the fifth for, do you believe in a peaceful transition of power?
Pleading the 5th and refusing to answer questions is a right in court. But these people are being asked what they did as Government employees by their boss ( the Government). Try ripping off and lying to your boss, then refusing to explain yourself in any other job. How long do you think you would keep your job?
@@frederickwelham3829 the fifth is for people to avoid making statements which can be used against them criminally; it does nothing to avoid being fired, so apples and oranges
I know most people already know, but just in case anyone doesn't (or forgot), Michael Flynn is a retired Lieutenant general in the United States Army who served for two years as Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency in the Obama administration. Trump was notified that Flynn had dealings with foreign governments which left him susceptible to blackmail and other forms of coercion and it was recommended that Trump not hire Flynn. Trump hired him anyway and Flynn served as the Trump campaign's national security advisor and then, after inauguration, he served as the United States National Security Advisor for a whole 23 days before he either resigned or was fired (it apparently depends on who you ask). A month after he resigned (or was fired), he retroactively registered as a foreign agent.
Michael Flynn took an oath to uphold and protect the Constitution of the United States. His assertion of his fifth Amendment rights in response to the question "Do you believe in the peaceful transition of power in the United States of America?" is a clear violation of that oath he solemnly swore. For that reason alone, he should be recalled to active duty, brought before a military tribunal, stripped of his rank, and discharged without honor, losing all of benefits.
I think pleading ‘the fifth’ answers those questions pretty clearly.
I love when you talk about Mel in Trump's voice. It's exactly how I imagine their relationship and I try to avoid that at all cost so it's better when it's funnier.
