Hey at 42:30 she says “especially with them being cold blooded, that goes right out the window.” Godzilla and all of the other highly irradiated titans aren’t cold or warm blooded. They don’t have to expend calories to stay warm or absorb heat from their environment. Radiation is a form of heat dispersal. There’s several types of radiation, but in this case as well as when we’re discussing nuclear bombs or the vacuum of space, it’s Gamma Radiation that Godzilla is irradiated by. He’s so radioactive that he is perpetually warm internally. He would light up like a Christmas tree on a thermal sensor.
Did you guys skip the 2005 KING KONG remake? Didn't light the world on fire, but it was a pretty solid movie, and they also go to what is basically a Skull Island.
Guys..thank you so much for this reaction and your channel! The Monarch Outpost numbers are references to the year of the monsters first appearance. So the outpost for Mothra was Outpost 61. Mothra's first appearance was back in 1961. King Ghildorah's first appearance was 1964, etc. That's a pretty neat easter egg they threw in.
Yup! You were hearing Mothra and seeing her wings in Godzilla blast in his final attacks on Ghidora. I know it’s not mentioned, but Kong did hear Ghidora’s call, he chose to ignore it.
"I understand the council has made a decision, but given that its a stupid ass decision, I've elected to ignore it." - Kong upon hearing Ghidorah's Alpha Call, probably.
Fun Fact: The director confirmed that the reason Mothra becomes aggressive when she's born is this is the first of her reincarnations where she is not treated by the Shobojin (her singing twin fairies, who in this version are most likely Dr. Chen's family) singing to her, and instead with men holding weapons. She woke up confused and scared, worried her worshippers have been killed. Though notice how she deliberately never kills anybody she attacks

@@quandilustenbinguslorsodo1501 we were talking about mothra buddy I feel like comments like these are made my non Christians so make people want to avoid Christianity.
A little fun fact, the Fighter jet pilot who ejected and got eaten by Rodan was Michael Dougherty himself, the director of the movie. His picture is in the computer screen when he ejected
From the KOTM novel it says that kong heard ghidorahs call but ignored him due to being an alpha however the skullcrawlers were answering ghidorahs call so kong during this movie was preventing them leaving
Oh wow! Would’ve loved to get a short film kind of like what Jurassic Park released where we get to see that whole situation go down and Kong doing some damage control!
@@Zankaroo The spider (I'm assuming you mean Scylla) was not on Skull Island. I think you're confusing her with the Mother Longlegs which are much smaller.
In Mothra's Toho Studios movie appearances, she was always accompanied by two tiny female twin "fairies" who communicated her intentions to humans. KOTM pays homage to that with the multiple generations of twin female scientists working for Monarch.
The thing about Mothra is that she never truly dies. Mothra isn't just a giant butterfly, she's essentially a guardian spirit of nature who takes the form of a butterfly. She dies in basically every movie she's in, but she always lays an egg beforehand and reincarnates in her offspring. The director of this movie confirmed that they are sticking with that aspect of Toho's lore, and if you watch the movie to the end of the credits, it shows in one of the panels that a new Mothra egg was found. Assuming that Monsterverse keeps going, she'll probably be back.
@@Zankaroo Technically yes, but in terms of appearance, she looks far more like a butterfly than a moth. Moths tend to have very dull, uniform colours whereas butterflies are almost always very brightly coloured.
My favorite two points of this movie were that:1) the twin Monarch researchers were supposed to be descendants of the Twin Fairies that were in the ordinal Mothra and Godzilla movies. 2) The original Gojira and the Monsterverse have a Dr Serizawa who sacrificed himself for humanity. The first using the oxygen destroyer, present day, with a nuke. Godzilla turning red was a callback to Godzilla vs. Destroyah, when his nuclear energy caused him to melt down.
The sound of Godzilla charging up the breath attack, I swear goes right through my body to the core as if I'm charging up my hype and excitement. EASILY one of the most satisfying things to listen to EVER!

'Monster Zero' is a reference to King Ghidorah's second ever movie appearance in the 1965 Godzilla movie 'Invasion Of The Astro-Monster'. In that movie, a race of aliens are under attack of a giant creature they've nicknamed 'Monster Zero', so they ask the people of earth to lend them the aid of Godzilla and Rodan to help fight it off. Once there, Monster Zero is revealed to be none other than King Ghidorah, or Ghidrah, as he was known as back then. The aliens turn out to be evil and use a mind control device on Godzilla and Rodan, unleashing all three monsters back on earth. Monster Zero has become a popular nickname for Ghidorah ever since. As a longtime Godzilla fan since childhood, my jaw hit the floor when they dropped that name in the theater.
Ghidorah also got a tons of nicknames like: Monster X, Golden Storm, Three Song of Terror, Three Headed Devil, Space Alien Dragon, False King, Illegal Visitors Who Doing Crazy Things, Gigan Partner In Crimes
This movie is basically a loving big-Budget tribute to the 60s-90s Japanese Godzilla Films of my Childhood, and I love every second of it. Special shout-out to Bear McCreary‘s absolutely amazing Score and how well it integrates the Original Themes for Godzilla and Mothra.
Hell yeah! Love that shoutout to Bear McCreary. We are big fans of his work. His work on the God of War franchise is beautiful! Being a fan of those original movies paid off big time. Never did I think I'd see a modernize take with so many nods to those films!
@@OfficialMediaKnights In my opinion, some of McCrearys best work is for "Battlestar Galactica". If you haven´t already give it a listen and maybe a watch of the series too.
@@OfficialMediaKnightsfun fact it should be noted that the Oxygen destroyer may or may not have created a new Titan known as Destroyah which was the only Godzilla villain in history that managed to kill Godzilla
@@joekool0078 Destroyah didn't kill Godzilla. It was the other way around (with some human help). Godzilla was already dying from his nuclear energy running out of control, and that's what ultimately killed him.
I love that "Bow down or die" look Godzilla gives Rodan as the other Titans gather around him after delivering the kill shot on the last Ghidorah head with his Atomic Breath. Also, if you don't recognize Dr. Ilene Chen or her sister Ling Chen....their actress, Ziyi Zhang played Hu Li in Rush Hour 2. Also, I LOVE that they recycled the Toho Studios Godzilla theme music and roars for this movie. And the male soldier that said "I think it's got somethin' to do with his goddamn head growin' back." is O'Shea Jackson Jr., the son of rapper/actor Ice Cube.
So many awesome bits of trivia thanks so much for sharing!! Also maaan that moment was AWESOME!! Godzilla is the GOAT and they did a great job with his roar and overall look!
@@OfficialMediaKnights It's my great pleasure to be of assistance. My autistic mind can't help but catch details that other people overlook sometimes. Also the Oxygen Destroyer bit is actually a direct rip from the 1954 original movie.
Ghidorah was an ancient enemy of Godzilla millions of years ago. Ghidorah is not like the other Titans on Earth, but an alien from beyond the stars. That is why Godzilla despises Ghidorah because he is an alien.
I don't think godzilla hates ghidorah because he's an alien but rather the passive destruction he brings to the planets ecosystem. It also doesn't help the ghidorah is mainly aggressive
@@geraldthegoose1685 Its both, he hates him because he does this destruction and being outside of the natural order of the world, hes literally an extraterrestrial invader and so threatens the world balance
You using the term “MUTO” in regards to all of them and not just the parasitic Titans we saw in 2014 is honestly amazing; it took me until after this movie to catch on to that term. You guys are some of the “smartest” reactors I’ve ever seen. You guys always make really great questions, like Ghidorah’s passive ability to create a superstorm because that’s exactly how his body works. Ghidorah has enough negative electric potential energy to cause enough disarray in the atmosphere’s polarity that it creates a superstorm by existing. I love the attention to detail that the implied biology has, I wish they’d touch more on it since I feel like it would make for better character dialogue and have more centralization on Titans to both the plot and discussions between characters about the titans
Thank you! That means a lot to us. I love that idea actually! I think utilizing humans to give exposition on the Titan's abilities but also potential weaknesses could be a great way to integrate the human element and still focus on the monsters!
@@OfficialMediaKnightsIs put some respect on their names... the KAIJUS of legend are not MUTOs "Massive UNIDENTIFIED Terrestrial Organism" It's right there in the acronym unidentified. Titans are Kaijus of the legendary monster flick eras .
The reason the military dubbed them M.U.T.O. in the first Godzilla was because that is what they were. The military had no idea what was going on. Monarch already knew about Godzilla and Kong and maybe a few others. Which is why when Monarch starts advising the military they don't call Godzilla a M.U.T.O. as he is identified. M.U.T.O. has also been use since the 2014 movie to refer to other other massive unidentified terrestrial organisms in other Godzilla media like the prequel comics. But I think it was at least in the second 1/2 of this film they just start calling everything a titan, hence them all getting scientific names like "Titanus Gojira" for Godzilla and "Titanus Mosura" for Mothra. The 2014 M.U.T.O. are given the name "Titanus MUTO" in the opening of Kong V. Godzilla but counted among the many inconsistencies in the opening of that movie due to production delays. Officially the MUTO are classified as "Titanus Jinshin-Mushi", the name give the to the titan known as MUTO Prime to Monarch. The Prime is the MUTO shown bowing at the end of Godzilla:KOAM. There are videos going over why he didn't engage her on sight aside from being dead tired. One of the main theories was she is too old to lay eggs and there for not a threat. Also the MUTOs from the first movie where her children that she laid in the Gojira Dagon after he attack the prime on sight and lost the battle to slowly die to the eggs. Dagon was the skeleton in the beginning of the 2014 movie. Most if not all of this is sourced from the graphic novels and comics.
The way Godzilla looks very closely at those humans on the submarine and ready to attack them but completely didn't and walks away, is because within his eyes and deep within his soul, he has humanity and benevolence within him.
"Mothra is an immortal goddess with similarities to a phoenix. Despite having experienced death on multiple occasions, Mothra is always reincarnated through an egg that she lays through divine methods before anything else in her lifetime." So yeah, I wouldn't worry about her. :) 1:02:16 Yeah, you missed that little bit.
My impression was that it was a very measuring stare. Godzilla is mulling over in his mind his past experiences with humans, and considering that these ones probably set off that bomb to help heal him. In the end he decides, "These humans are okay."
She intentionally didn’t want to kill Rodan since he was only under thrall by Ghidorah, so she stunned him at the last moment. She was caught mid-air by surprise by Rodan, but she was slowly winning their fight until a stray lightning from Ghidorah hit her and made her lose to Rodan.
You may be interested to know that Godzilla and Ghidorah were filmed with real actors using performance capture, including facial expressions. Ghidorah was actually three actors moving together, one for each head.
An especially amusing touch is having all three of Ghidorah's heads having their own personalities. The central head is the boss, the right head is the ax-crazy "wanna kill everything" head and the left head (dubbed "Kevin") is the dopey goofball. Also amusing; Bradley Whitford's snarky scientist was apparently inspired by Rick from "Rick and Morty." And yes, that was Mothra in those supercharged blasts Godzilla used to lay waste to Ghidorah in the finale. Mothra frequently will perish and then resurrect in her offspring. In the montage of headlines during the credits, there's mention of a giant egg found that is Mothra going through her rebirth phase.
When i first saw Godzilla 2014 i thought it was one of the best Godzilla movies but when this one came out that quickly changed, such a phenomenal movie! The sounds, visuals, monster design, seeing all these monsters popping up together in this movie, everything about this is amazing! Doc sacrificing himself for his "friend" Godzilla someone he's been looking into for so many years and the admiration and love he's developed and after when Godzilla came back after the nuke he was understanding that he must protect the humans, Mothra doing the same to give Godzilla his final boost of strength to bring balance back both scenes get me in the feels... So good!
gladly! I just started the video and am already looking forward to the next one! Many parts of Lord of the Rings are still missing ;-) Greetings from Germany
This movie is a small boys dream come true. All the classic monsters with their original themes dropped into 1 movie with state of the art tech...just wow. It blew me away. Mothras theme, Rodans theme. And of course the masterpiece of Godzillas theme. Also they looked like and had their original abilities from back in the day. And Ghidora..so menacing. Went multiple times to the cinema because I could not get enough from it. 🥰
Great reaction. You guys caught what many other RUclipsrs who reacted to this didn't, and that was the image (and sound) of Mothra in burning Godzilla nuclear blasts. I've only seen a handful of other notice this.
Been waiting for this ever since seeing your guys videos! This is my favorite place to go because we have the same reactions and it feels like family watching with you guys.
Back in the 80's I use to go to pick-a-flick video rentals and rent out every Godzilla movie. Godzilla and Superman movies, but Godzilla was my favorite.
@Media Knights so glad you both loved this, when they played the ld Toho Godzilla theme in a western made film had me tear up in the theaters. @Denise your enthusiasm was infectious to watch :)
The part about when Ghidora blasted and vapourised Mothra: she pretty much transformed all of what was left of her power and physical form into pollen, to transfer Godzilla for a little power-up. When Godzilla does that first massive blast from out of his whole body, the blast takes the form of Mothra's wings, and you can even hear her scream too.
I have been watching your videos for the last 3 weeks guys, please always keep doing these reactions. Watching you both guys is so relaxing and entretaining. 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Fun fact number 1: You can see Rodan smiles when he wants a doing "Barrel Role" and that one pilot jet who got eaten by Rodan is the director himself, Michael Dougherty. Fun fact number 2: You can also hear Showa Godzilla's roar from MonsterVerse Godzilla, it is because a tribute to Haruo Nakajima (the first suit actor Godzilla in Showa Era 1954-1975) who sadly passed away in 2017. Fun fact number 3: This is one of the if not first incarnation of Ghidorah who can regenerates. Fun fact number 4: The Oxygen Destroyer first appeared on the movie was in the original Godzilla film 1954 and also that bomb is responsible for Godzilla's death, the creator of Oxygen Destroyer is Daisuke Serizawa (Ken Watanabe who played Ishiro Serizawa is a reference to Daisuke Serizawa). Fun fact number 5: When Godzilla goes thermonuclear is also a reference to "Godzilla vs Destoroyah" in 1995 goes Burning Mode, and it's confirmed that Godzilla who is going thermonuclear name it "Burning Godzilla", while the 1995 version is the same it can melt anything on its path, but also it is so hot that it can meltdown to the center of the Earth or worse...Destroy the planet Earth itself.
This is the second incarnation of Ghidorah to regenerate. The first was Grand King Ghidorah from Rebirth of Mothra 3 who was abke to regrow his entire body from the tip of his tail
Back in the day when I was a child, Godzilla was the bomb! I loved those monster movies. This movie is so awesome! I wish I could have seen it when I was 6 yrs old. I would have lost my mind over the VISUALS! Where is Gomera, the flying turtle? That was a staple monster in Godzilla movies.
I knew you'd love this! It's amazing seeing your childhood kaiju updated to appear amazing! The update to Rodan alone was worth the price of admission. He used to look like a rubber chicken.
"Monster Zero" was an alternate name for Ghidorah in the old movies. I think it's what the aliens posing as people called him, whilst people on earth called him King Ghidorah. I cant remember, it's been a lot of years since I've seen those 😂.
@@williambanks2223 There was some crazy, convoluted stories in some of those movies. I remember some aliens that looked like people but were secretly cockroaches lol. Couldn't recall if that was the same movie as Monster Zero or not. It's been like 30 years.
@@mantism.d.8363 That is the Space Hunter Nebula M, who brought Ghidorah and Gigan to earth to conquer it. So yes, space cockroaches did control him at one point.
The storm is the Earth itself treating Ghidorah like a disease. It can't be used as camouflage since the '6th sense' that the titans use to locate one another doesn't use line of sight. The Queen is technically immortal. She probably left an egg under the falls with a copy of her memories. I know probably doesn't seem like much consolation, but Dr Russell can leave this life knowing that Ghidorah was treating her like an Alpha Titan. Long Live The King!
Im a huge godzilla fan and just discovered you both recently, i love your energy together and how you pay attention to details its great that youre really engaging in what youre seeing ! Cant wait for the following of the monsterverse with you :)
Aside from all the movie facts, I just love watching movies with you guys! It is always a good time, thanks for posting it all here for us to enjoy with you.
When watching your YT review on Kong; Skull Island, your enthusiasm was so contagious that I said I wanted to run to my DVD cabinet right away and watch the MV movies again. And well, I did. Watched Godzilla; King o/t Monsters a few days before this review, and I was bouncing up and down my seat as much as you guys did. They so knocked it out of the park with this iteration of Godzilla. I'm sure your headsets are high-quality, but let me tell you. If you ever get the chance to see this movie with a proper surround set, you'll be in for a treat. When Godzilla charges his Atomic Breath, the entire room just vibrates! You can almost feel the power he is accumulating surging through the room. Goosebumps every time. I can't wait to see what you'll think of Kong vs Godzilla.
As a lifelong Godzilla fan (been one ever since I was four or five), I almost squeed like a schoolgirl when I heard the theme for the first time during the fight in Antarctica. (My dad and I watched it together one night, and when Godzilla glared at Ghidorah, he went, "Boy, he looks mean!") Also, while it's a shame you couldn't play it on RUclips for copyright reasons, I absolutely loved the rendition of Mothra's song in this film. Not going to lie, when she hatched under the waterfall and the theme swelled as she spread her wings, I almost teared up.
34:00 notice how Ghidorah gave an alpha call to all other Titans. Kong was the only Titan amongst everyone that choosed to ignore it as he himself is an Alpha ❤
when Mothra died above Godzilla, she dusted him with her power. So, when Godzilla went thermonuclear, his blast attack had Mothra's power behind it as well (you can see her wings in the blast and hear her cries when he does the blast) and it helped him contain the power he had and not explode. Mothra, the most clutch wing-woman of all time! xD
King Ghidorah has 3 heads, each with their own personality. Ichi, Ni, and San (meaning 1,2,3 in Japanese). San, the far right one from our POV (the monster's left head) is considered the more innocent and kinda stupid one. His nickname is Kevin, and we all love him.
I was lucky enough to be on holiday in Japan when this movie came out and got to watch it at the Toho Cinema in Tokyo on Godzilla Street, unfortunately the Godzilla museum was closed but it was so cool to see it there
The Real Protagonists: Godzilla, the Monsters and epic fights where cities are destroyed. Filler: Humans in the Monster verse that make up a lot of the plot of these movies.
Unmade post scene was to be the Twin monarch agents in front of Mothra’s egg with two young twins (relatives) singing to it. The Twin agents were really part of a secret group unknown to Monarch attending to Mothra.
OMFG!!!! watching you both react to this movie is nek level funny, and entertaining .... - when i heard you were reacting to this movie, i decided to join your channel thank you both
Imo easily the best monsterverse movie, the old theme, the classic monsters, a true monster movie...now its turned into a weird sci fi michael Bay vibe thing...but people still seem to love it
Because godzilla has been associated with dumb fun before? Even this film is ALSO seen as dumb fun by some who love it?. I love kotm but don't call it a "true" monster movie as if there isn't kaiju films that blow this film out the water in the writing department man. Kotm has great music, cinematography and fights but falls flat on it's story, it's pacing being too fast, too many characters and not enough room to develop them all and said fights have more cutaways than g14 did. Do I gotta remind you too how fans reacted to criticism of this movie when it initially came out? "It's a godzilla movie, the humans/plot don't matter" and thus was born the modern interpretation within the fandom that plots and humans in G films don't matter apparently til minus 1 showed they do matter.
After that last reaction I am so hyped to see what y’all think of this one! Watching it in theatres was a great experience and rewatches still have me glued to the screen. Seeing these kaiju in modern CGI was and is so fulfilling! Hope you both enjoyed it 🤗
Being a fan of those older films made watching this one such an enjoyable experience. So many nods, great action sequences and insane VFX! What a spectacle!
In the novelization of the movie, it’s explained why Kong didnt join like all the other titans. Kong heard the sound of ghidorah calling…. But thought it sounded annoying so he ignored it.
So originally there were supposed to be alot more toho kaiju for cameos with concept art having even gigan being there are the final fight however Toho would charge them the full amount regardless of screentime so they had to make a lot of original kaiju however they were able to put an angurius skeleton in the scene were serizawas nuke blows up the temple
One thing I noticed over the mnay viewing of the final battle is Ghidoras reaction to being hit by missiles versus how Godzilla reaction. Ghidora shielded itself with its wings while the only time Godzilla would react is when they hit the gills on his neck. Think Ghidora is less durable then Godzilla but clearly has a massive healing factor to compensate
Guys I know it has been months since you guys have touched the monsterverse but you guys should totally watch monarch legacy monsters. The show is about a girl named cate trying to find her “dead” dad and she finds out about other stuff. And it’s not just that there is flashbacks about on how monarch was formed in the 50s, along with the aftermath of 2014. So the show takes place in 2015 making the events happen between 2014 and 2019. And lore about monarch. And of course Godzilla appears in the show along with kong but Kong only has like one scene. And it’s impressive that it’s fully funded. But I am not forcing you guys it’s just a suggestion it’s up to you guys if you want to watch it.
Awesome that you finally reacted to this amazing movie! Such a fantastic love letter to Godzilla fans and the franchise as a whole! Btw yes, you are correct, you can see our dear Queen of the Monsters' wings, Mothra, in the thermonuclear blast that Burning Goji releases when he charges up! If you watch again, you can even hear her little screech when he unleashes it! Don't be upset with Mothra's death, since if you've seen the prior movies you'd know that Mothra reincarnates through the eggs she lays, and every reincarnation of her retains her former lives' memories, so it's basically the same Mothra every time, just reborn! Plus, she's rumored to reappear in GxK, so we might get the chance to see our King and Queen reunite once more, maybe keep and eye out for that ;) Can't wait for you guys to move on to Godzilla vs. Kong next!
So Happy you guys got to KotM, it's the first movie I went to see 3 times in Theaters (other being Minus One) There're so many nods to the Toho lore of the main Titans, Mothra having Twin priestesses (twin scientists) Ghidorah being an alien ("Astro Monster") and Rodan being from a volcano. So many beautiful shots and sequences that I couldn't get enough.
I'm so happy y'all loved this movie. Mothra is my favorite monster and I was fangirling so hard in the theater whenever she was on screen. Hoping they're gonna bring her back in a future film or hopefully even her own movie
They did SUCH a good job with ghidorah's animation. The way his heads all behave differently and think separately from each other sometimes is shown so well
And when Godzilla Minus One starts streaming, you absolutely must react to it! I saw it in the theater, and it's great! Definitely a throwback to the genius of the Toho era!!❤
King of the Monsters is my alll time favorite Monsterverse movie ever especially as a huge Godzilla fan, with all the little bits of easter eggs man it was just awesome. Even though the movie has bits of nitpicks here and there I still think it is awesome to see four of the most famous monsters in the Monsterverse hust beyond amazing
Gotta say I loved your guy's reaction, idk why but some reaction channels just seem to be brain dead people who have no idea whats happening during the entire movie and dont care, but you 2 seem like actual people who actually care and its just nice. Can't wait to see your other movie reactions to the monsterverse and beyond.
_Charles Dance onscreen_ "Oh, he always carries such a presence. Just so menacing." "He is so charismatic, dude, no matter what he's in." _me remembering Charles Dance at the end of Ali G Indahouse_ 🤣🤣🤣🤣
21:16 - King of the Monsters was the first modern American Godzilla movie where the people pitching it to the studio executives presumably sat down and said "Okay, follow me on this guys: What if, we made a Godzilla movie... but _THIS_ time... with *GODZILLA* in it?!?"
It's unfortunate that this Godzilla didn't do so well at the box office, meaning the director probably won't have another go at the Monsterverse. I think he really nailed it, lots of homages both big and small to the OG movies, even down to some of the camera shots/close-ups of Godzilla's face when he's going thermonuclear and things like that.
@@Kaiju-bm4ts Probably. My assumption is that if KOTM had a greater success he would have been asked to direct another or such. I dunno. Either way I just think it's a shame because he had some great little touches and visuals that the others are sort of missing for me.
@Hakkar6993 that would of depended on how gvk did as the pandemic was inevitably still going to happen in 2020. I still think Adam would of been asked to direct again but the following MV film Michael probably would of been asked to direct that
Don't see many people talking about how Legendary Godzilla has survived not 1, but 3 ways he was killed in previous movies. The oxygen destroyer killed him in the original 1954 movie. Mothra sacrificing herself for is very similar to Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 2 where Mecha G kills Godzilla (or ar the very least beats him to near death), but is resurrected after Rodan sacrificed himself. His burning form is from Godzilla vs Destoroyah, where he was literally in nuclear meltdown and died as a result.

Hey at 42:30 she says “especially with them being cold blooded, that goes right out the window.”
Godzilla and all of the other highly irradiated titans aren’t cold or warm blooded.

The Monarch Outpost numbers are references to the year of the monsters first appearance. So the outpost for Mothra was Outpost 61. Mothra's first appearance was back in 1961. King Ghildorah's first appearance was 1964, etc. That's a pretty neat easter egg they threw in.

In Godzilla GMK, she wasn't treated by the shobojin either. This wasn't the first time.

A little fun fact, the Fighter jet pilot who ejected and got eaten by Rodan was Michael Dougherty himself, the director of the movie. His picture is in the computer screen when he ejected
Well technically, this whole movie was made on a computer screen
That is so cool! I nearly jumped out of my seat in the theater during that scene
Cool! Makes a lot of sense why a highly trained military fighter pilot bailed out at the worst possible time! LOL
Aww he wanted to get eaten by a Kaiju. That's cool 😂

From the KOTM novel it says that kong heard ghidorahs call but ignored him due to being an alpha however the skullcrawlers were answering ghidorahs call so kong during this movie was preventing them leaving
Was just about to comment that!
Oh wow! Would’ve loved to get a short film kind of like what Jurassic Park released where we get to see that whole situation go down and Kong doing some damage control!
Others have said that and that makes sense, but why did Kong let the spider thing leave.
@@Zankaroo The spider (I'm assuming you mean Scylla) was not on Skull Island. I think you're confusing her with the Mother Longlegs which are much smaller.

1:02:14 Monarch found a new egg. She is laying an egg before she dies...somewhere. She always does that.
Mothra is _immortal_
Immortal through reincarnation and rebirth 🤗.
[SPOILERS]
the tease was worth it since she's alive again in GxK: The New Empire ❤
@@JoshuaGI’m glad they let her live in the movie.
Yeah Mothra always laid an egg. Which is why there's a Mothra when one dies.
She's going to be in the next film
Moth...MOTHra is a moth, not a butterfly. Specifically she is based on a silk worm and silk moth.
@@Zankaroo Technically yes, but in terms of appearance, she looks far more like a butterfly than a moth. Moths tend to have very dull, uniform colours whereas butterflies are almost always very brightly coloured.
@@ZankarooFalse. Please look it up. There are many moths that look far more like Mothra than butterflies.

The Rodan intro scene is easily in my Top 5 giant monster scenes of all time!
I agree
Same it look badass
By far the most impressive rendition of Rodan ever.
Dude levelled a town just by flying over it
My favorite two points of this movie were that:1) the twin Monarch researchers were supposed to be descendants of the Twin Fairies that were in the ordinal Mothra and Godzilla movies.

I love that movie
That movie was one my (and my brother's) favorites. When we first saw it, it was: "A happy moment."
When I first saw the siluette I thought they were going to introduce Manda.
Frak yeah, his Scores for BSGs are awesome. Also worth checking out: Human Target, Da Vinchis Demons, Europa Report and Foundation.

It's my great pleasure to be of assistance.
This also kept the original backstory of Ghidorah in that he's essentially a cosmic horror who goes around trashing planets for his own amusement.
Godzilla is a racist....
So he's racist 🤣🤣🤣
@@johannesbowers7467 I'm going to call them all MUTO's just to spite you because you care too much
The way Godzilla looks very closely at those humans on the submarine and ready to attack them but completely didn't and walks away, is because within his eyes and deep within his soul, he has humanity and benevolence within him.
Not only that, it shows that Godzilla has empathy.
38:05 Mothra is so gorgeous. Brighter than even the Sun. Love her soundtrack too. A bit emotional.
46:41 🫡 *_Goodbye, old friend._* For Serizawa.
Ironically, Mothra is known as the Moon Goddess 🌙.
"Mothra is an immortal goddess with similarities to a phoenix. Despite having experienced death on multiple occasions, Mothra is always reincarnated through an egg that she lays through divine methods before anything else in her lifetime." So yeah, I wouldn't worry about her. :)
1:02:16 Yeah, you missed that little bit.
I think that when Godzilla looked at everyone on the boat it was more of a look of "Thank You" than "What are you going to do?"
My impression was that it was a very measuring stare. Godzilla is mulling over in his mind his past experiences with humans, and considering that these ones probably set off that bomb to help heal him. In the end he decides, "These humans are okay."
I felt it was more of a grumpy staredown. "First you try to kill me, now you blow up my home and want me to clean up your mess? Hrrrm."
No titan makes an entrance like Godzilla...he is indeed a King ...he goes towards the fight so badass.
The part that Amazed me the most is how Mothra took Rhodan (even he's still alive at the end)
Like bruh you can't mess the queen
If rodan wasn’t being stupid he should have easily killed her
She intentionally didn’t want to kill Rodan since he was only under thrall by Ghidorah, so she stunned him at the last moment.
That explains it! MoCap work always comes through!
How absolutely metal would it have been to actually see a dragon hydra flying through space👀🔥
Honestly, that would've been sick! There's still hope that we get to visit the cosmic side of the MonsterVerse soon 😄
It would be terrifying man
An especially amusing touch is having all three of Ghidorah's heads having their own personalities. The central head is the boss, the right head is the ax-crazy "wanna kill everything" head and the left head (dubbed "Kevin") is the dopey goofball.
Also amusing; Bradley Whitford's snarky scientist was apparently inspired by Rick from "Rick and Morty."
And yes, that was Mothra in those supercharged blasts Godzilla used to lay waste to Ghidorah in the finale. Mothra frequently will perish and then resurrect in her offspring. In the montage of headlines during the credits, there's mention of a giant egg found that is Mothra going through her rebirth phase.
If you think about it it's kind of funny how they did Kevin right by having him be the only one able to go a second round vs Godzilla as the Mecha!
@@OfficialMediaKnights indeed a lot of memes were made about the fact is kevin the one beating godzilla in his mecha godzilla body.

The part about when Ghidora blasted and vapourised Mothra: she pretty much transformed all of what was left of her power and physical form into pollen, to transfer Godzilla for a little power-up. The storm is the Earth itself treating Ghidorah like a disease. It can't be used as camouflage since the '6th sense' that the titans use to locate one another doesn't use line of sight.

As a lifelong Godzilla fan (been one ever since I was four or five), I almost squeed like a schoolgirl when I heard the theme for the first time during the fight in Antarctica. (My dad and I watched it together one night, and when Godzilla glared at Ghidorah, he went, "Boy, he looks mean!")
Also, while it's a shame you couldn't play it on RUclips for copyright reasons, I absolutely loved the rendition of Mothra's song in this film. Not going to lie, when she hatched under the waterfall and the theme swelled as she spread her wings, I almost teared up.

Love this movie. For me, it's the best in the Monsterverse so far
when Mothra died above Godzilla, she dusted him with her power. So, when Godzilla went thermonuclear, his blast attack had Mothra's power behind it as well (you can see her wings in the blast and hear her cries when he does the blast) and it helped him contain the power he had and not explode. Mothra, the most clutch wing-woman of all time! xD

More of an R&B kinda titan as opposed to electric metal I suppose
So originally there were supposed to be alot more toho kaiju for cameos with concept art having even gigan being there are the final fight however Toho would charge them the full amount regardless of screentime so they had to make a lot of original kaiju however they were able to put an angurius skeleton in the scene were serizawas nuke blows up the temple
Some of the new monster designs are very cool and creative IMHO. I'm particularly fond of Behemoth, the elephant/gorilla/sloth blend.

Plus, she's rumored to reappear in GxK, so we might get the chance to see our King and Queen reunite once more, maybe keep and eye out for that ;)
Can't wait for you guys to move on to Godzilla vs. Kong next!
Can't wait to see the insane team up we're gonna get in GxK! Godzilla, Kong and Mothra Vs Scar King and Shimo! This is gonna be good!
So Happy you guys got to KotM, it's the first movie I went to see 3 times in Theaters (other being Minus One)
There're so many nods to the Toho lore of the main Titans, Mothra having Twin priestesses (twin scientists) Ghidorah being an alien ("Astro Monster") and Rodan being from a volcano.
So many beautiful shots and sequences that I couldn't get enough.
59:07 That's the power that Mothra gave him, turning him into Burning Godzilla, a reference to the final Hesei era film Godzilla vs. Destroyah.
I'm so happy y'all loved this movie. Mothra is my favorite monster and I was fangirling so hard in the theater whenever she was on screen. Hoping they're gonna bring her back in a future film or hopefully even her own movie
Awesome reaction of my favorite Godzilla movie!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Haha aw that's awesome, we hope you enjoy our reaction!!
Toho is hoarding that digital release! We need it now! 😂
Congratulations guys for reaching 100k subscribers. 🎉❤
Omg thank you so much, it's thanks to the amazing support from all of y'all!
Thank you! You guys have been amazing to us ❤️
Gotta say I loved your guy's reaction, idk why but some reaction channels just seem to be brain dead people who have no idea whats happening during the entire movie and dont care, but you 2 seem like actual people who actually care and its just nice. Can't wait to see your other movie reactions to the monsterverse and beyond.
I always enjoyed Godzilla's first scene in this movie.
_Charles Dance onscreen_
"Oh, he always carries such a presence. Just so menacing."
"He is so charismatic, dude, no matter what he's in."
_me remembering Charles Dance at the end of Ali G Indahouse_ 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The Burning Godzilla is his form when you combine his nuclear energy and Mothra's dust. That's what you see in the end.
The fact that the actor who made the god...zilla joke is Josh Lyman from The West Wing makes it 1000 times funnier
21:16 - King of the Monsters was the first modern American Godzilla movie where the people pitching it to the studio executives presumably sat down and said "Okay, follow me on this guys: What if, we made a Godzilla movie... but _THIS_ time... with *GODZILLA* in it?!?"
The part godzilla save the girl is a recall moment from a godzilla movie call (Terror of Mechagodzilla)
Michael dougherty was literally involved in the making of gvk and monarch legacy of monsters. He's still around
@@Kaiju-bm4ts Oh, yeah I know, I meant at directing, specifically.
@@Hakkar6993 he was likely never asked to direct anything. Some directors only direct when asked to
@@Kaiju-bm4ts Probably.
