I loved the way he would just hand the ball to the ref after he scored. He didn’t show off. He just glided like a slalom skier. The most humble football player ever. You can’t compare Jim Brown and Barry. No need to. They were simply the best. Period.
Why Larry Fitzgerald is my favorite receiver of all time hall of fame talent but would hand ball to ref after he scored as well he really was a great role model. Barry a legend to for sure
You are both 100% right
Every Thanskgiving, I give thanks to family & Barry.
He was there for 10 straight Thanksgiving's, and he always brought something special.
Barry is the consummate Professional with unrivaled Humility 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I grew up watching him play at the silverdome. He could juke your eyes watching from 100 yards away. Watching him in person was crazy. It's like he could go any direction at any time and get up to full speed after a cut in the blink of an eye.
Berry Sanders is my fevorita.
Seme for e besic fen like me
Berry?
@@jeremylewis5487 yeah the video was originally titled “Berry Sanders Dominates the NFL” and they changed it after my comment and others like it alerted them to their mistake lol. Just being petty.
You can tell Barry is the kind of dude that says “darnit” and “cripes”
What a beautifully humble person.
His dad was thinking ahead of his time.
Barry Sanders = CLASS. The world needs more men like him. I was/am not a Lions fan but he is by far my favorite NFL player of all time. Score a touchdown, act like you've been there before, hand the ball to the ref. He stuck with the Lions. I just can't say enough about this man.
So now nfl players cant celebrate?
His love for the game and my love for him is almost (ALMOST) bigger than the watch on his hand.
his father should've praised his son more...tough is love is 1 thing but a hug is just as important
Impossible not to love who he is as a person just as much as his one in a billion talent
Legend.. simply the best.
BEST RUNNING BACK EVEEEEEER 💯💯💯
Berry Sanders is a new DQ shake. Thanks NFL Films.
He's the greatest without any doubt.
Just imagine what he could have done with a good offensive line.
And a quarterback. Aside from Herman Moore, the passing game generally was no threat to the defenses.
@@MattPawlowski I can't believe that they kept Scott Mitchell for all those years. Scott Mitchell was so afraid of getting tackled that half the time he would run away holding the ball between him and the tackler like a whimpering Schoolboy that didn't want to get hurt.
“Berry Sanders” lol It’s Barry.
The real Greatest Runningback of all time. Barry could be the NFLs all time leading rusher but even if he did his father would still say Walter is better.
Jim Brown
His dad has Jim Brown and Walter Payton ahead of Barry. He always said Barry was the 3rd greatest RB that’s ever played the game. In my eyes he’s the best I’ve ever seen since but I never saw the other 2 play.
Truly one of the greatest “what if” stories in football. What if he didn’t retire so abruptly? What if Detroit actually cared about fielding a winning team? What if he continued on his torrid pace for another few years. Barry Sanders is still to this day the most talented running back I’ve ever seen, and to know that there was still so much potential that went to waste is so upsetting
What if he'd gotten injured the season he retired...what if Detroit HAD fielded a better team and STILL lost though? I try not to wonder about could have beens...be thankful we got to see him for as long as we did and that he wasn't in an even worse situation. He could've been another one of those guys who was taken down by injuries and then he'd REALLY be a "what if" story. These are just some examples of me playing Devil's advocate, not trying to argue with you 🤟.
@@IamJdTrent you speakin all fax 🙏
One good thing to come out of it that he is probably physically and mentally healthier for having retired early.
Hopefully he is still financially comfortable.
@@IamJdTrent I can appreciate that side of the debate. Well spoken, friend.
There will always be the NEXT this player and that player but will never be another Barry
BARRY THA GOAT
unmatched
What a star .. payton / sanders the best
Posturing after every 1st down, the trash-talking after every tackle, and the general lack of respect from today's NFL players, they could learn a thing or two from how Barry Sanders played the game. Pure Class!
Amen
You do realize how nasty NFL players were back in the day, right? Especially the 70's
@@kamehamehey22615 you know Barry played in the 90s right? Far different from the 70s.
@@ryandunn2930 Yes, I know that, just saying how viewing players today as more disrespectful is wrong
Imagine being a once-in-a-generation talent and being drafted by the Lions...
imagine 30 years later leaving behind a huge legacy and all your youtube videos by the league call you "berry"
His dad was cooking with a 2023 offence 😭🔥
Thank you Mr. Barry Sanders…
Put some respect on that mans name
THE GOAT! Hands down, no exceptions! I'm a Cowboys fan so I could just say Emmitt and argue Emmitt the rest of my life! Barry would have shredded Emmitt's rushing record if he would have had a line throughout his career as Emmitt did! BARRY! GOAT! PERIOD!
Well said and Barry was still in his prime when he retired.
Emmitt wasn't better than Payton or Jim Brown either......or Derrick Henry for that matter.
Notice how many of Barry's TDs were long runs.
Emmitt may have scored more but most of his were between 1-5 yards.
Poetry in motion
I know all about Barry Sanders, but I was hoping for something about Berry Sanders. Disappointing.
This title sums up the current state of the actual NFL as an organization.
???
@@MichaelMurphy-kj3xf for eight hours the title of this video was “Berry Sanders Doninates the NFL”. Comment section was filled with comments on the blatant error and laziness on the spelling of Barry.
@@pmfunnell Oh, sorry. I didn't know.
Now that I read some of the other comments it makes sense.
Peace.
multiple videos titled with the wrong name ? did the intern uploading these never hear of him or?
What piss me off is all these youngsters know about Randy Moss but not Barry Sanders.Randy Moss my second favorite player of all time behind only Barry Sanders.
As spectacular as Moss was you could 2X that for Barry. These was nothing like him.At the game both teams fans cheering from him.
Hands down the best running back ever.
What other runningback in history could you give the ball to on a draw and 3rd and 15 and expect a 1st down every time?
Sorry papa Sanders.. If Jim Brown (or any other RB in history) was on these terrible Lions teams, they wouldn't do half of what Barry did.
GOAT and it's not close.
He deserves a ring
Barry's yardage an stats are like any other great what makes barry the greatest when comparing Emmitt or Payton, an 1 ppl overlook which put Emmitt an Payton higher is, they has a strong supporting cast, barry made magic with half the team the other greats had, that's why his skill an attributes make barry the greatest
I don't want to hear this Jim Brown nonsense. Jim Brown was on teams that contended for championships almost half the time he played, never had a losing season. Sanders was on teams that had losing seasons half his tenure. Their YPC, YPG and totals TD's were very close. Just think what Sanders would have done if he were on the Cowboys or Steelers during the 90's with the offensive lines they had, multiple years over 2k no doubt.
If those Lions team with Barry , Moore , Morton periam they were a QB away from a superbowl if they had Farve back then they win.
Barry Sanders is the only reason I started watching football, and he never disappointed me. Every game was exciting when Barry Sanders was playing.
Watching all the players that started taking knees during the national anthem is why I stopped watching football. And I don't miss it a bit.
How do they spell his name wrong..
As great as Barry Sanders was, except for the Dallas game and in the 1993 wildcard game, Barry Sanders was shut down the rest of the game in the playoffs.. The sad thing is if the Lions made it further in the playoffs Barry probably plays another 2 to 3 years. He breaks Walter's record and Emmitt Smith has a tougher time catching up to the all time record. Barry, Calvin Johnson, the Hall of Famers retiring because the Lions couldn't get it done. Only Matt Stafford broke the Lions curse and won a Super Bowl before injury took him away this season. Just be happy that we got to see a top 5 back of all time. Barry was one of the kind and you will not see someone like him ever again.
When u depend on 1 player to shoulder the load Herman Moore was your next best player.
It's a shame the father did not appreciate how much Barry had accomplished. Barry was pure class.
3:23 - This is why you should not use the argument of "if Barry played with a more talented team in Dallas, he would of been even greater".
Also, question I have to ask. Did Barry break out after the first two games in 1997 because they abandoned the two back offense, or the team finally adapted to the new scheme?
Could someone tell me why the lions would take Barry out when they got to the RedZone? I didn't get that.
Matthew 5:14
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Nfl films really used a picture of emmit smith
Berry?
I guess the Gen Z NFL Films intern posting this has no clue that it's "Barry". NFL Films, this is embarrassing.
The defenses were so terrible, none of those losses were his fault.
That fullback in front of Barry is no good
E Smith was better.. All time leading rusher... 💍 💍 💍
Ain't no way NFL FILMS spelled his name wrong
