Please thank your mother for helping me to practice my Japanese listening! Her Japanese is so clear and not too fast. It's perfect for people who are learning like me!
Wow, your mom looks beautiful after her cancer remission, she looks younger and you can tell her that the camera doesn't lie.. you also look great as always shinichi. My son loves the different onagri from japan. There is nothing here in O.C. that comes close to the taste from japan. Have a beautiful day.
Your mom is so lovely. I'm glad she's having a good visit. It was fun seeing her doing a taste test with you, and I would love to see another one. Thanks, Shinichi. Love to you and Satoshi.❤😊
So love watching the videos with you and your mom. You can tell the love between you all. Please always treasure all times with her. I miss my mom so much.
Shinichi, I have to tell you that your mom has inspired me to up my hat game- her skin is so beautiful! And every time we see her out and about with you and Satoshi, she's got an incredible sun hat on- when I try on or buy a hat, she's my style inspiration! I always ask myself if it looks like something she'd wear. If the answer is yes, it gets permanently added to my hat collection.
How lovely to see your mom again. I'm glad she's looking so well. Blessings on her. PS: Smart lady. Caught that the mushroom was maitake NOT matsutake.
It's always a joy to see your beautiful mother, Shinichi. She's ageless! I loved watching you interact as you enjoyed tasting onigiri together, and your mother's honest opinions made me smile. I enjoyed this video _so_ much that I've watched it twice already. 😊A huge thumbs up to as many videos with your mom as she would enjoy making! Love to you all.
Example - at about 2:24 and 2:46 she says "oishii, ne" - that means "it's tasty, isn't it." The subtitles translate this two different ways - both including "dear." More cases I think but I am not going to go through the entire video.
I loved this video. It was so heart warming and beautiful. The bond between you both is amazing. I'd love to see more videos of your mother. She's so sweet and wonderful. Thank you so much Shinichi for sharing your family and love.
Watching the 2 of you is always such a joy, and I wanted to add as someone who's studying Japanese, the way you speak to each other is so clear that I'm able to understand nearly everything without subtitles. Getting snack reviews AND comprehensible input makes this channel one of my faves!
Mom is so cute and looks great! She reminds me of my grandma who was a few month shy of reaching her 100th birthday when she passed. I love seeing her in your videos because it reminds me of time I spent with my grandma. 🥰
I agree shinichi this is going to be lots of fun for you and your mother I will enjoy this video with extra love happiness and joy my heart goes out to you and your wonderful family and friends cheers kampai and itadakimasu to you two ✨️❤️👍🇺🇸🇯🇵🙏😇👏👏👏👏👏
I love watching your videos with your mom! Especially the cooking videos. She reminds me so much of my bachan growing up. Thank you for all of your wonderful videos.
Hi Shinichi. It’s wonderful to see your mother again. She looks wonderful! Please do another taste test with her . I would love to see more! Also, try to convince her to do another cooking video before she leaves. Thanks for sharing. Love from Tennessee. 🤗💕
Glad to see your mom in good health again! I know she likes what she likes so I can believe her critiques. So many onigiri and they all look delicious! Thank you for the taste test. It was fun to see the reactions!
Oh, I just love videos about onigiri. It is so simple but it also can be little bit more sophisticated like that one with salmon roe. There's these endless options of flavors and stuffing. And all that with your lovely mom's perspective.
This was such a lovely video to watch! I started watching Tabieats in 2019 just before the pandemic hit, whilst i was discovering a love for Japanese foods despite never having travelled there. Unfortunately during the pandemic i had to shield from the world for almost 2 years due to my complex health issues, and i wasn't able to get hold of new ingredients as easily. But over the past 12 months i have been rekindling my love for Japanese Cuisine- last week was my birthday and to celebrate i held a tenmaki night at home making vegan gluten free hand roll sushi for my best friend who has lots of food intollerances. A few days later i did it again but with plenty of raw fish in our tenmaki. The following day i used my left over rice to make my first ever onigiri and also tried out a couple of different furikake mixes. I also discovered some frozen onigiri at my local asian supermarket where i buy my ingredients- they were just like your first category of onigiri in this video and were absolutely delicious.... but making my own onigiri was so much fun and i can't wait to do it again soon.... this video has given me so many ideas of what i could put in them! I think your mum has fantastic taste and that i too would have picked the same top flavours.... although the bonito flake one really did tempt me! The tobiko/masago roe one sounded especially nice too. Thankyou Tabi for making me excited about food again, after i developed diabetes and had to stop enjoying a lot of sweet treats i really struggled with food. You helped me discover a whole world of umami flavours and new texture combinations that i never knew existed and got me excited about food again- one of the few things i am still able to enjoy these days despite my health. You gave me the confidence not only to order these new foods in resturants but also to cook them for myself at home. Not only do i make sushi at home, and now onigir tooi, but also ramen and cooking pre-made takoyaki (my absolute absolute favourite food ever!!!). For my birthday i bought some fresh wasabi root to try with a wasabi grater and that was an amazing experience- so different to the basic wasai paste we get here in the UK normally, i also got myself a tamagoyaki pan! I just need to get myself my own Hangiri bowl for making my sushi rice and i will be all set. Next on my list to try making are okonomyaki and nagashi somen! Your mum is so very sweet, i do hope to see her again in future videos and as always look forward to watching more of your adventures in your next video! Thank you xx Anna in England
That was such a nice video to watch Shinichi ❤ thank you for uploading it! I love seeing her in your videos, and often try her dishes at home too! But, we also love Satoshi's dishes, and make them too. Wishing you lots of health love to all, Nat, Stan and the cats ❤
Your mom is so adorable! I think that it is great that she is willing to do a taste test with you! She is open to trying new things, which is wonderful! You are a good son to give her this opportunity!
Family Mart was my go to when in Japan..But did try others like 7/Eleven and Lawsons...But my fav was the Family Mart egg sando....Could eat those till they came out my ears!...hehe...Nice to see you and your mum spending time together..I never had that.
Hello Shinichi's mother! This was a wonderful video to watch today. I love seeing onigiri videos from the channel and your input was delightful to have. Umeboshi has become one of my favorite flavors when I come across it at the store, and at home, I make homemade shirashu with soy sauce onigiri and mentaiko mayo onigiri for myself and my husband.
Shinichisan, thank you for sharing the difference types of onigiri. It's also my favourite Japanese comfort food. I am going to Tokyo next month. It gives me a chance to try the many kinds of onigiri from 7-11. Btw, your mum looks beautiful, I hope to see more of her cooking with you.
I am enjoying your latest videos! Your Sakura Viewing in Saitama, then cooking, shopping, and dining out with your dear Mom! 🥰 Onigiri is one of my favourite food of all time, and seeing you both enjoy different kinds made my day! Please do say hello to your mother for me, Shinichi.❤ She's so endearing. 🥰 I'm glad she has a new favourite riceball to look forward to. I was watching this while I was having dinner after getting home later than usual.
I loved this video with your mum. I love listening to Japanese. I am trying to learn as much as I can for my trip next year. Looking forward to the next video ❤❤
Shinichi's mother is loved by everyone! I also love Shinichi's mother's kindness and honest comments! I look forward to meeting Shinichi's mother in Japan again. Let's enjoy shopping and barbecuing together in Tsukiji.
I agree with the others here, your mom is looking lovely, happy and healthy. Thanks for the honest reviews and I'm glad she found some new ones that she enjoys! It's fun seeing you 2 make videos together.
we just got back from another trip to Japan and LOVED the onigiris from the konbinis! Our favorites definitely included the tuna mayo as well as the pickled plum and the egg-tomato-chicken!
Just came from Japan, I tried 3 onigiri's, , respectively from Lawson, since it was in the same building as the hotel. Tuna mayo was so good I kept going back for them
It's fun to see what new tastes they come up with :) I used to love the kombu one, but haven't bought it in years. I don't eat onigiri as much anymore, Though I make them for my daughter sometimes.
Bachan is so precious! 🌷 My favorite videos, are the ones where she is included. 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸⛩🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸 It is so evident, how much she adores you, Shinichi.
I think I am going to have to study and watch this video 100 times. A lot of useful Japanese here. One thing that occurred to me. When Shinichi's mother said, "konbu", I thought of "konnyaku". When I was in Kyoto, I remember this. 糸蒟蒻 in oden (おでん, 御田).
Interesting choices by both of you. I agree with your mom about the cream cheese--NO thanks!! I am really looking forward to seeing the Lawson 100 review. And i am glad your mother decided to try new ones in the future.
Oh how I wish you could get these in the US! What a delicious quick breakfast or lunch this would be, and so much healthier than the sausage biscuit or nachos that are typical 7-11 fare in my area.
0:15 - Onigirinoko? 😁 (I just realized it's like those cute drawings of takenoko..) I notice 7-11 now labels the onigiri in English.. that'll be useful. Will probably be eating a LOT of onigiri on my upcoming trip (flying into Japan late Sunday night, first meal will probably be onigiri at the airport).
Please thank your mother for helping me to practice my Japanese listening! Her Japanese is so clear and not too fast. It's perfect for people who are learning like me!

I always enjoy your Mom. Please do as many videos as you can with her.

Your mother is so sweet :) Love this kind of content from you two!
I love how youre Mom calls you "dear." It's so sweet.
I love that, too! ❤
But - she isn't saying "dear" in all situations where that appears in the subtitles.
@@ldavis3457 Is she saying something similar to dear?
Example - at about 2:24 and 2:46 she says "oishii, ne" - that means "it's tasty, isn't it." The subtitles translate this two different ways - both including "dear." More cases I think but I am not going to go through the entire video.
@ldavis3457 I've heard that expression used before, but I didn't know what it meant. Thank you.
Loved watching your mom do the taste test. Hope she is on many more videos. She makes me miss my mother. ❤️
Always great to see okaasan. More speaking from her would be nice. And more of her cooking!
I love your mother. Long and healthy life to her
Always love seeing your mom!!! Another taste test would be great!❤
