Solak - you and Sheil are the best non-Simmons pod on The Ringer. Your collective insights, enthusiasm, love for the game, analysis, and gossip make for the best content. Thanks for making my dog-walks in Brooklyn so enjoyable.
It’s a pretty big oversight of the YAC stuff to only compare these 2 guys as route runners and at the catch point. Based on the total evaluation up to the point of the catch, I think it’s fairly consensus that you’d take MHJ over Nabers. But Nabers had so many crazy YAC plays this past season that show wiggle, juice, and almost a RB running style in the open field that MHJ clearly doesn’t have. That’s where it’s a conversation about who the top receiver is. That’s where the styles separate and it becomes more of a preference thing, or how each player would fit in a given situation.
Would love a play sheet on the late 1st/2nd round receivers. Feels like guys like Keon Coleman, Brian Thomas, Adonai Mitchell, Xavier Worthy, Ladd McConkey, and Roman Wilson could end up on teams that have playoff expectations this year where they would need to contribute right away a la the Bills, Chiefs or Ravens
Yeah thats the idea. Everyone can have fun with WR1,2,3 talk but much like how last year the day 2 and 3 WRs were poppin, I think we'll see more of the same with this talented class this year going to teams with established offenses.
MHJ is NFL ready right now! Whoever drafts Marvin Harrison Jr is going to have a $25M/yr receiver on a rookie contract for $8M/yr through 2027. Chargers hope he’s there @ #5.
No disrespect to Nabers but to me this is simple. You see all the Ohio State WRs that went in the first round? Everyone and their momma says MHJ is the best of them all. WR1. Also side note That Jaden Daniels throw at 14:02 is so nuts
If you look at the history of the NFL, most guys that are Marvin Harrison Jr.'s size dominate the receiving td list. I'm always going to choose the bigger athlete. Quarterbacks can be less accurate because they have a huge catch radius. TD LIST 1 Jerry Rice 6'2 197 2 Randy Moss 6'4 156 3 Terrell Owens 6'3 153 4 Cris Carter 6'3 130 5 Marvin Harrison 6'0 128 6 Larry Fitzgerald 6'3 121 12 Davante Adams 6'1 95 13 Mike Evans 6'5 94
Nabers and MHJ are more dissimilar than MHJ and Odunze. More interesting than comparing similar skill sets. That said, I'd love a comparison showing the difference between RO and MHJ
What Harrison did to King and Johnson this season was nasty. What Harrison did to Ringo and the UGA defense was gross. Go and look at the hit took him out of the game against UGA. If he wasn't hit unconscious, that's a TD in a tight space for a 6'4 wr. He don't have the YAC yards, because he don't need them. He's automatic and again he's 6'4.
Nice break down but I just don’t understand why you’d go through all of MHJ’s strengths but not nabers lol Nabers is better at making people miss and yac than mhj is. Like, I don’t think there’s a wr the past few drafts that is better than Nabers is after the catch where as Marvin struggles after the catch with his slim frame
5:40 OMG calm down my guy lol. The DB played with outside leverage giving Harrison an easy path to run a slant lol. He always looks good when he’s in the slot because it’s an easy mismatch when you smaller nickel DBs & linebackers covering you. Every time I saw him line up outside vs a corner who’s equally talented & more physical, Harrison struggles big time
"The wide receiver classes are going to be filled with talent, if you need a guy you can find a guy" Chiefs haters/opponents are gonna be in shambles hearing this
Nabers is a better college WR, i can count on one hand how many catches he got 2 feet in. MHJ is a better pro receiver style WR, he makes his catches and gets 2 feet in. I feel Nabers will be good but he is not a refined route runner and it will cause nabers to struggle. It will show on those sideline and endzone catches most, he goes full body to the ball and drags 1 foot vs a more NFL ready WR in MHJ that always does everything the NFL expects from a WR.
Everyone of you guys are jokes period. Nabers will be the better pro why doesn’t anyone talk about out level of competition, no one mentioned that. Nabers last two years against pro style defenses Alabama Georgia Auburn not this past season put up the best stats in any year for any lsu receiver in history. While Harrison is playing against Marshall Toledo northwestern give me a break
This is like saying Jamar chase is better than Justin Jefferson because he has elite athletic ability and less nuance as a route runner. Yeah you can get better at it but it doesn't negate the fact that one guy is already elite at it while the nabers is still pretty raw

You say this as if the BS pod hasn’t been absolute dogshit for the past year or two

Ben Solak has been a rising star for like 6 years now and I’ve heard his detailed and nuanced breakdowns… it’s peak
Just another jock sniffer who never played sports in his life.
gosh dang this is quality content
You have low standards.
Great analysis Ben, I would've liked some analysis on Rome Odunze but that's pickin nits.

Hopefully the Chargers take one of these guys 🙃

Malik Nabers please and thank you ⚡💯⚡
You my friend are good!

True but nabers break way more tackles than mhj. Naber led all the wr in the draft at breaking tackles which mean more yac.
If you look at the history of the NFL, most guys that are Marvin Harrison Jr.'s size dominate the receiving td list. I'm always going to choose the bigger athlete. Quarterbacks can be less accurate because they have a huge catch radius. TD LIST

6 Larry Fitzgerald 6'3 121
12 Davante Adams 6'1 95
13 Mike Evans 6'5 94
I think all three could be very good to great and WR is the most important piece for the QB in this era…
Is the second picture from the bottom a Scotts Oriole?
Nice birds!
If you would take Odunze over Nabers, why wouldn’t you make the video Odunze vs Harrison? 🤔
Rome isn't being discussed as WR1 over MHJ. Nabers is. That's why
@@gmony1552 then maybe our boy is rtard
Nabers and MHJ are more dissimilar than MHJ and Odunze.

We must protect Ben Solak at all costs.
Nabers is better

Howdy...
Harrison or Nabers? Rome!
Ok. You have only watched a little tape. MHJ also wins deep and through the catch point. Painting him as a route merchant is wrong
Probably ought to watch through the whole video.
Holt crap.. Solak is only 12 years old?

All I know colts better trade for MHJ, he is the answer
I'm sure you just titled this video this way to goad everyone into commenting "nobody is wondering this. It's Harrison by a mile"... and it worked
Crazy, it’s usually Heifetz that says words wrong. WR1 is pronounced “Rome Odunze”, hope that helps!
NABERS is Tyreek Hill
Skipped the comb today?
#BoyHowdy
Malik was robbed of the biletnikoff. Still insane that it happened
The answer is neither; I'd bet that Odunze will be the best WR at the next level
Odunze is better than nabers
Rout running is overrated when you have elite traits. Nabers is so explosive and he will become a better route runner with times he’s only 20.
This is like saying Jamar chase is better than Justin Jefferson because he has elite athletic ability and less nuance as a route runner. Yeah you can get better at it but it doesn't negate the fact that one guy is already elite at it while the nabers is still pretty raw
Nabers is the 3rd best WR
