- 'Bout Time! It has been awhile so I decided to start back with this easy little watercolor. This Demo is really about the tonal gradient in the foreground. A simple, but effective technique.

PEN: The Uni-ball deluxe micron roller ball pen .5mm nib. These pens are extremely waterproof on my papers and can be painted over immediately. The roller ball is almost indestructible and claims to be archival.
BRUSHES: A Polar Flo 1/2 inch flat brush is my current favorite. The bristle were originally white but have become stained. A #3 round brush.
PAPER: Size- 5"x7"
Arches 140lb Hot Press Paper for this Video.
My papers of choice include Arches and Fabriano 140lb Hot press and Cold press paper and Strathmore 500 series Sketchbooks. All are 100% cotton rag.
For beginners, I recommend starting with a high quality paper and experimenting with different types. As your style develops, you'll get a feel for which type is best. Waiting to switch to a better quality paper later will be much like learning to paint all over again.
MY PALETTE: All tube paints!
Winsor Newton- Yellow Ochre, Sepia, Burnt Sienna, Winsor Red, Davy's Gray, Ultramarine, Sap Green.
DaVinci - Phthalo Blue, Quinachridone Fuchsia, Cadmium Yellow Lemon, Cadmium Yellow Deep. *I plan to replace the Fuchsia with Winsor Newton Quinacridone Magenta when mine runs out.*
MIXING PALETTE:
The palette is the mixing tray from a "Koi" Watercolour travel set. The colours are set up so the ones I mix together most often are close together. - Хобби
I must echo the rest of the followers that were indeed missing you. Hope you are well and I hope to see many more of your paintings.
It's a ballet of electric wires! Just love your work.
I feel honored every time you use my music for your videos, Peter! Thank you so much. I love watching you at work. I had missed your postings. Hope you are doing well, my friend. 😊🎹

@@SteviePaints Thank you! 😊🎹
Gorgeous music!
I love your paintings. Thank you, Peter.
Have loved this channel for so long.. watched each video over and over... Lessons learned here have taken my watercolor to new levels. One of my biggest compliments has been when I show people my art now .. they almost universally comment with a wow.. or a gasp and say .. Oh.. the shadows ! I then ALWAYS tell them about your channel and how the shadows were all because of what I learned here. Thank you for ALL these beautiful instructional videos .. Stay safe.. be well... see you in the next one .. : ]
excellent work never fades away, someone will always see the beauty in it...
Nice comment. Thank you
It’s so innocently sweet. Awesome.
Lovely!
I just love ❤️ the simplicity of your beautiful paintings. Blessings
Wow!

Hello, I like your styl a lot. 😊 Love your raggedy penmarks before painting. Great art!
So glad you are back. Love it! Thank you Peter.
Perfect
So nice see another of your beautiful videos Peter. I find them so relaxing and instructive too.
I like this one. Simple, stripped down, but with plenty of challenges. Painted my own version last night; from sketch to finished painting I clocked 3 hours. That includes pit stop, change TV Channels and snack break.
THANX for sharing this one.
Sweet.
Gracias Peter. Encantada de volver a ver tu trabajo.
I love your style! The jagged pen lines add so much to your pictures. Thank you for sharing!
Mr Steeler,
Welcome back! I can’t expresses enough how much you inspire me with your incredible talent and gift.
Your paintings are loose yet structured which helps me to watercolor with out getting frustrated with myself.
I’m always amazed at your accuracy and details in such a small space. I appreciate you and your art work.
My husband and I watch you all the time!
Do you ever draw and paint country churches?
That is my passion and by watching your technique I plan to do more.
With such appreciation, Diane.

I love your style and find your videos so relaxing to watch. A lovely painting.
Great to see you! I love line and wash. As a beginner in watercolor painting, I think this is great way to learn. Thank you.
Was eagerly waiting for your painting for a long time! 😃 So happy to finally see it! 😊 Thank you 😍
Great style. So simple and homey without being kitsch.
Just wonderful!
your art is beautiful, I have watched you for years
Thank you Cyndy. Very nice to hear
Welcome back and thank you for continuing to share your work here on RUclips. Your videos are always delightful and informative! 💕😺
Hi Peter, I really like your style. It's like watching someone brainstorm with paint to create a mood. The people strike a few images in my mind. The bowed head of the visitor opens many possibilities to me. And that's what great art should do. I've been dabbling in watercolor but this style is something I think I will begin to explore more. I'm using Winsor Newton Cotman half pans, but plan to step up to artist grade paint very soon.
Really like your use of wet on wet!
Perfect combination for the senses…. Both sight and sound☘️ many thanks from Ireland ☘️
Beautiful as usual!!
It's so great to have you back! Thanks for this lovely piece. I especially enjoyed the development of the grasses.
You are so talented Mr Steeler ✨💯

Peter......semplicemente meraviglioso.
This is so cool!!!
Charming painting!
Thank you
It's been awhile since you have made a painting video, but it's been even longer since I've seen your videos in general. It's nice seeing you again! Wonderful painting as always :D
Hey, Peter. I don’t think I have ever seen you use utility poles and power lines before!! Yeah Right
This is so inspiring. I really like this art style. I shows so much with a few lines and colors.
So sweet! I'm just properly learning to watercolor so I'm gonna given this a try cuz I love it so much!
I really like your style, Mr. Steeler. I tend to be a perfectionist when it comes to my drawings/paintings. But as I watch you, I see a more organic, somewhat slow and uncomplicated approach. You're a huge inspiration to me. I'm going to try and draw this and see how it goes. I'll need practice to let myself just go with the flow. I really love all your paintings. Thanks for opening up a new perspective.....that I needed to see!
Hello Maeve
While watching this video for the .. ? I lost track how many times now.. A different perspective was realized.. no doubt due to the times we live in.. and I don't think it was the intent.. But I saw something I had not before.. Isolated house with a road that stretched for miles.. lone person on the inside another on the outside.. both seem like their heads are down.. Perhaps only a visit through a closed door ? It made me sad.. but hopefully things are about to get better...
I'm so very happy to see you posting a demo after way too long. Welcome back!
Hello Janice
I'm an experienced acrylic-on-canvas painter, but I'd like to dabble in smaller scale ink pen and watercolor work. Never used watercolor, so I'm curious as to a brand you'd suggest. Perhaps a smaller, simple palette at first. Thanks! Awesome work!
This was a lot of fun to do. Is it possible to put the picture up in a corner for reference while we're painting it? Thanks.
I could sit and watch you create all day. May I ask please if you use hot press when painting snd drawing this style ?
if you read the information in the description box it could help answer some of your questions .. good luck.. have a nice day.. : )
:)
Such a pleasure to see your video today =)
Hello
Peter: papel grano fino? Grcs.
What pen are you using?
Extraño! Solo acabo de preguntar una vez... Y veo dos veces lo mismo! Duendes? 🤔
Hi! Is there a way I can get in contact with you?
Wonderful Painting Sir, !! 😊😊 But Can you please tell how to make phlato blue ?
Phthalo Blue is a purchased color .. : )
Why does line and wash work? I mean - I know it does - but why?
Why is everyone calling you Mr. Steeler? Lol!
lol... wondered the same but wasn't going to say anything .. HA .. ! ; ]
Thank you for sharing your talent, looking forward to see more painting from you.
