Water pressure is the same. And that’s not a gas hot water heater. That’s a *tankless* hot water heater and it happens to be a gas one.
You can get electric tankless hot water heaters. They look exactly the same. There’s no giant tank. It just instantly heats the water with electricity instead of gas… so no worrying about gas leaks or gas hookups or city building codes involving gas connections..
Tankless hot water heaters are great. They can save money and be way more efficient than your standard 40/50 gallon tank hot water heater… BUT they have their drawbacks. And one a few of those are: they can cost more 💰 💰 in utilities, cost a good bit upfront, maintenance, and they won’t have a long lifespan in areas with hard water at all. Tankless hot water heaters more or less instantly heat cold water.. so any metals or minerals in the water are going to solidify and that can clog a tankless unit very quickly.

Dad’s are awesome aren’t they? For helping us sons with our various home improvement and diy projects.. I don’t know what I would have done if I didn’t have the dad I have.. how much I appreciate and love my dad is directly proportionate to how much I empathized with him when my grandfather died.. I lost my papa.. but my dad lost his dad..
I was close to my papa. He was literally THE person that got me into video games, which led to computers, which led to smart home tech, gadgets, and just technology in general.. without my papa I wouldn’t be who I am today. And watching my dad lose him.. it was really really hard to see. On top of my own guilt and sadness.. and feeling like I could have done something.. I had to see my dad grieve his dad and his best friend.

Alex, what about the aircon installation? What is the most cost effective kind in terms of maintenance and repair or even replacement of the concealed duct or pipe? When replacing these, dismantling is needed and damage the walls - what is your opinion?

Yes gas heaters are the best. Also, once you use gas dryer as well, there's no turning back :)
I am also using the Kohler sensor tap. But the standard setup does not come with the 13amp power supply and I had to get it separately on Amazon. Also using the Moewe hood (retractable) and induction hub.
Ohh mine is running on batteries, i am hoping that it can lasts at least 6mths
For the oven, if you don't use much, put some thirsty hippo in. Our humid weather will cause the heating element to be absorbing moisture, causing oven to trip if it's not used. ;)

Side topic: I'm considering to get a homekit bridge to bring all of my non-homekit devices together, what's your take on the various choices: ala HOOBs pro vs Homey pro vs hubitat. will be great if you can give me some pointers, even better if you can create a short vid on it
homekit users mostly use homebridge or hoobs, another suggestion is to do some google and see which has a stronger community/resource

Anyway, nice video. Always enjoy watching your recommendations. My house is also “pimped” with a lot smart home tech from 2018. Google home, yeelights, xiaomi, aqara etc. After all were setup, didn’t really follow up with newer smart home tech subsequently.

Hi Alex, would like to ask about the smart gas heater. Usually normal gas heater you have to wait for the water to heat up when you turn on. Does smart gas heater already “pre heat” so you can get instant hot water ?

Curious if u have a pee pad/tray for duffy and if so, where did you put it?
duffy is pee pad trained so we can put anywhere, initially at service yard but because we close the door whenever we on A/C, we moved to the area infront of the fridge

Is there hot water in the toilet basin? I remember when I use the water tank in the past and there is hot water from the basin tap.
Hot water depends on whether you did piping for it, the faucet do support both

Are you able to make a video with regards to your newly installed sensor Kohler kitchen tap which you’ve mentioned greatly reduced the splashing all over your sink? I am really struggling with my Grohe Essence L Spout sink mixer. I have very low threshold on wet sink grime and tho I will wipe the sink dry patiently I would really consider an alternative product which will reduce the amount of wiping I need to do even from a simple hand washing. Thanks in advance
i am not sure exactly how it compares to that grohe as I never used that before, i suppose there are other factors that will affect the splash as well such as the sink and faucet installation. The thing about about sensor faucet is you can 'preset' how big the water that's coming out, so everytime you can just motion to turn on/off that's all

I choose beko its because at that time, its of the very few that support auto dosing. Kuche vs mower, to me just design

I am reading robot vacuum for most brands needing a 1.5m clearance in front of the docking station for the robot vacuum to return to the docking station. Any issues with yours placed in the service yard? I'm assuming you might not have a 1.5m clearance space there.

Does the smoke alarm trigger due to heavy cooking? I am thinking of getting a smoke alarm that can do automations like turn on my fans when my downstair neighbour smokes (always get strong smoke smell entering my house) but not sure if it can detect cigarette smoke instead of fire smoke...
i don't think a smoke alarm is meant to be used this way lol

I have the Misubishi StarMax, which i would like to at the min switch on-off and prefably manage temperature using a home hub. Is there an IoT addon available that you know of.. I understand some other aircons like Daikin and Midea have this inbuilt

Hey Alex, great video! Can I check if you have a rain shower in your bathrooms? The reason why people are using storage tanks is that the water pressure is stronger compared to the usual electric heater. I wonder if the Gas Water Heater can solve this issue?
thx thx, i don't have rain show as i feel that its not high enough to feel it as rain.. i am not sure how much stronger the water pressure is, i think it depends alot at the estate you stay
1. 3 sec to get hot water instead of 10 sec for gas heater.
2. If someone shower for too long will get cold water as form of punishment.
3. No gas odor smell and won’t get burn.
4. Storage tank needs to install pressure relief valve. Hence, plastic tube hose will get protected from high pressure.
5. Longer life span.

via tuya home assistant integration, for homekit i am not sure, definitey have to use homebridge but even so i think it only support zigbee devices, have to do some research

i switched on when motion detected on my bathroom motion sensor
Switch to Induction cooker and use dryer instead of hanging dry. Never look back.
Im the opposite, switched back after using induction n dryer in my previous house

Yes it only work with alexa, i will say it doesnt make sense for google home users, too bad google doesnt have a device like this

Hi Alex, does the cooking hood become stupid with other brands of gas, ceramic, electric, and induction hobs? If your dog pees on your kitchen floor, and you don't wipe it for 18 hours, would the pee seep under the floor tiles? Eco floor tiles can be cleaned with hot steam mopping? Thanks!
It will definetly leave stains overtime then i guess you have to use strong cleaning solution to remove the stains and that will likely damage the vinyl, i do steam mops for all vinyl regardless

Hi, may i know, the laundry rack system can only be installed on concrete ceiling? The developer installed a cornice ceiling on mine. I’ve wanted to use this but not sure if it will hold the rack & laundry weight 😢
