Currently I have a sensor and light switch connected to smart life via zigbee & an AC third party app synced with google home. I have sync google home with smart life with the target to turn on the AC when the lights turn on. the cloud vs local debate is always based on a few points - performance, security, reliability. In singapore, we hardly have any internet outages so I am not concerned with that. I am also fine with security since I am not a celebrity, I am alright with my data sitting on the cloud. I guess partly is because i work for a cloud company. The only reason I will go for a local smart home setup is for performance, a simple motion detected and switch on light should not take more than 3 seconds
