Just gotta say, I love this channel and this series. This is basically the first time in my studies I can actually follow along with a real genuine Japanese conversation and it feels rewarding and very helpful. Hope for the best for ya!
This comment was made 4 years ago. This is really random but I’m curious to know how your progress has been! I must say that this channel helped me immensely
I'm still in the beginners stage of listening so I am quite confused at how the conversation took such a turn! I was following along quite well, and then...😳
7 minutes in and the way you mark down the most difficult words and the pace of the conversation : natural with pauses makes this really good learning material
Even though I know this is fairly simple, it's still feels quite rewarding to be able to understand it. I know the grammar used in this but still struggle a bit with the vocabulary.
LOL! Ladyboy was an unexpected turn of events. Omg tho this is so useful! I can actually follow the conversation (or like 2/3rds of it). The vocab words help so much as well so when I get lost I can get back on track with the conversation. Thank you for making these, fo real.
Thank you for doing this. I'm at a slightly lower level than this, so there are grammar patterns I have not yet learned, but writing key vocab as you go along is very helpful.
Fortunately I'm not a complete beginner. I've been having weekly lessons for nearly a year with a Japanese native who also teaches Japanese at the local university. And Anki revision every day (Anki is probably the single biggest help to my managing to remember any of it). My only regret is not starting lessons sooner, as I'm in my late 40s. But it's a fascinating journey so far.
Amazing videos. I struggled a bit with this video a couple months ago, but after watching nearly all of your conversations I can come back to this with barely under 100% comprehension. Truly an incredible resource.
Wow, this is the perfect pace for me right now! And I appreciate that he is typing out a lot of words and phrases. It really helps me a lot as a beginner! :)
Hi ben, just wanted to say your videos are amazing for people like me, who have progressed beyond the basics, but not quite intermediate yet either. The content is easy enough to follow, but challenging enough that I feel like I'm really learning. Thank you so much! Please make more!
Wow, this is a great find for Japanese learners ! Thank you for posting these. I like how you keep the conversation interesting, makes me want to watch the whole thing. The vocab list is especially helpful.
thank you so much for these videos! Just learning nihongo for like 2-3months (mostly the kanas) and i understood like 40-50% of the conversation. Not every word, but enough words to get the sense of the whole sentence. Hope you continue with this!
These conversations are wonderful! For my current Japanese level, they are perfect listening practice. Thanks so much for uploading them; now subscribed! Could you recommend any other sources for long form listening practice at this sort of level?
+1 on the Japanesepod101 recommendation, their podcasts range from beginner to advanced. You can google for a recommended path, where someone took their time to review the individual seasons. Other than that, these conversations are really helpful. These are actual conversations with native Japanese people and simple enough for me to understand and to get more feel for the language. I wish there were more channels like this, but i'm happy that you upload these videos for us benjiro-さん.
I find this so weirdly effective for learning because the conversation is so strange that I keep doubting that I'm understanding it correctly but then get a rush of excitement and amusement when I find out I'm actually right.
Ben, this channel is amazing for beginners. I am a few months learning Japanese and these are great. I like how to pick out the important word in the sentence while keeping the conversation at a nice and easy flow. Very enjoyable and a fantastic teaching style for us.
I discover this video 2 years and a half after you made it. I'm currently learning japanese by my self (nihongo ga tanoshii desu kara ;) ) and it's very useful to me. I hope you keep doing others !
Oh my goodness this was fantastic and such a confidence boost, i can't believe that i listened to a whole hour of japanese and managed to understand it. Just finished my N4 and looking forward to gaining in confidence with my speaking so i can have conversations like this in the future. thank you, looking forward to watching more :-)
Thank you for this :) I've been using HelloTalk for engaging with two language partners. This is nice because it is a fluid conversation spoken slowly!
@@konterosbass6269 at some point he says there are a lot of weirdos learning japanese. miki questions if he's one too, and he dodges by saying he simply finds japanese interesting
I agree , such a helpful video, you really are helping a lot of people with your work! The effort you put in really does show, and it is appreciated by all of us watching and learning. I would just like to ask, during the making of this video, how long had you been studying Japanese?
Hi Benjiro, your videos are absolutely great learning material! What is みきさん saying at 1:13? I understand カナダからすこしかいてきただきです, but I can`t find a translation that makes sense.
I am just 13 minutes in, and I've never watched this channel before, but I've subscribed. Wow! Awesome stuff that I can understand...and this is FUNNY! Without missing a beat, you turned the conversation from squirrels in Canada to ladyboys in Thailand. Then, talking about the fact that a lot of people who study Japanese are "strange". Rather than a student, it seemed like you were interviewing the teacher. And you kindly wrote words and translations on the screen as the conversation progressed!...also found in the description section! This is a great learning tool! I saw your channel and found that you haven't uploaded for a while. What you have now can keep me going for a while, but I hope you do continue with this! I'm subscribed for when you do! (Update: I finished this in one sitting! Best conversation for learning I've ever heard. And so fun to listen to!)
Loved the video... But I gotta say I found Miki-san was trying her best to smile and look happy. But when she says money is short and she cries sometimes, besides the fact it looks like she's sitting on the floor... I don't know but I felt sad for her :(
If i want to look a particular phrase up, for example: していません (from 1:02), how would i go about doing that? Online dictionaries has about 50 definitions for the same phrase.
Just gotta say, I love this channel and this series. This is basically the first time in my studies I can actually follow along with a real genuine Japanese conversation and it feels rewarding and very helpful. Hope for the best for ya!
Yo I came back to this after 2 months and went from barely understanding to understanding basically everythibg
Haha and what a crazy feeling right!
if u don't mind could you tell how did you study in that 2 months

The best part of the videos is when Ben introduces the KFC "double down". The reactions are great. The irony that he is a vegetarian makes it funnier.

Yes, real beginners may indeed find this somewhat challenging.
Lessons are probably the only viable option for real beginners at this point.
