    Hey all - it looks like trying to link to this jsx means a lot of browsers are opening it like a webpage of text instead of knowing to save it as a file. I think you can right-click ‘save as’ but if it’s not working, you can paste all that text into notepad and saving with the extension .jsx - I’ll see if we can get it to download as a file or zip or somethin’ shortly.

      i brought it into notepad on mac but dont see an option to save with extension jsx.

      @@ryansulak- are you able to option/alt/click on the original link in your browser to say ‘Save File As’ or ‘Save Target As’ ? Or perhaps save it as a txt, but then change the file extension in Finder? (I’m clearly not a Mac guy, but know it works well on Worley’s machine)

    This should be an integrated function in After Effects. Is crazy how complicated it is to do camera projections using the "official" technique. Thanks a lot guys for creating this tool! Is part of my daily vfx workflow already.

    Awesome tool, really useful for VFX compositing. Now that After Effects has some new 3D capabilities, would be incredible to take this to the next level and finally have something like this but doing projections on 3D imported objects based on the camera position, like a real projector. That would be a very profitable plugin that any comper would pay for.

    What a nifty tool! Thanks for sharing
    My VFX workflow often involves working on ungraded footage that I later replace for finished renders. Unfortunately, this makes the 3D Plane Stamp less useful as it creates the PNG before the graded footage relink. I'm wondering if there's a modified approach in which this tool might instead precompose a freeze frame of the source footage that would be stretched appropriately to work the same way in the 3D camera tracked space - but allowing for source footage to be replaced afterward.

    If you are on a Mac - when you copy/paste the script into TextEdit, you need to go to your menu bar > Format > Make Plain Text. Then when you do File>Save, save it out as 3D_Plane_Stamp.jsx and MAKE SURE you uncheck the box that says "If no extension is provided use .txt"

      Once you get a decent camera track, you can put planes in 3D space of textures that you need. It helps a ton to have a clear line to add things in like the edge of the concrete here.

    Can you show how to make glass shards? Like from a broken window?

    • @MaxonRedgiant
      @MaxonRedgiant  Год назад

      There are a number of ways you could do that. Here's one:
      First, you need some breaking glass. Trapcode Particular comes with some broken glass presets. You could use the Shatter effect that's native to AE. Or you could grab some stock footage of breaking glass.
      Then, you would add some displacement (or chromatic displacement) to your footage using the glass to drive the displacement and then screen the glass back on top of it.

    Nice tool. Thanks for that. Is there any possibility to save out other formats than a png? Especially with a higher bit depth than 8bit.

    • @MaxonRedgiant
      @MaxonRedgiant  Год назад +1

      The reason this is using a PNG is because AE lets scripts write them. Other formats (and bit depths) would require you to have a specifically formulated output module in place and this was the easiest to use solution.
      That's not to say there might not be another solution available, but this is what they've got so far.

      Hashi demonstrated a few uses in this video - great for creating clean plates with a moving camera, building a 3d scene for integrating CG elements, or just for making quick motion graphics things. We may see some use of this on VFX and Chill, but we'll keep it in mind for future tutorials as well!

    Hi! Great tool (When its working) Sometimes the script doesn't seem to resize the created PNG image. At times it works perfectly, but occasionally, for no apparent reason, it stamps the picture without resizing it. Any ideas why?

    • @lechumqc7910

    This is great! but why PNG? It would be great to export EXR stills! please!

    • @theActionMovieKid
      @theActionMovieKid Год назад +2

      We did it because PNG export is accessible without going through the render queue - I’m not currently knowledgeable enough to add it to the Render Queue (because if a script does it, it requires an output module to be written into it and added to AE to avoid issues on various machines). One day maybe!

    • @NailujProducciones
      @NailujProducciones Год назад

      @@theActionMovieKid I understand! make sense! And what about to just create precomp with the freeze frame inside. Like what the Mocha Import script does. So we can actually render that freeze frame if we need to, But it will work without rendering anything. With PNG it can't be use for any professional work, when I can't compress my client's files. usually I need to work the entire workflow with Open EXR on ACES color space. Even the content aware fill creates EXR when you want to export a reference frame.

    • @theActionMovieKid
      @theActionMovieKid Год назад +2

      I think the next addition will be a precomp rather than a still frame - and an checkbox to freeze the output or to leave it as video. I wanna keep the scope narrow- but useful as possible

    Why would my freeze be darker than the original. Its at full resolution?

    • @theActionMovieKid
      @theActionMovieKid Год назад

      My guess is color depth or color space. Try converting to 8 or 16 bit and then running it - if you’re in 32. My next hurdle on this script would be figuring out how to make it deal with all color depths and spaces properly. Will do when I find the time!
