Jan Michael Vincent, I don't know if this comment would ever reach your eyes but I grew up in the 80's watching Airwolf. I know you have had a long struggle with drinking and drugs but that doesn't change the fact that I always saw you as Stringfellow Hawk and that character was someone I wanted to be like as a kid. You helped inspire me and I will always be grateful for that. I hope you beat your life's problems and keep at heart, I still respect you and know we all have our own low points in our lives. You have a loyal fan still in me.
when I look at him, I see the fair-haired beautiful man from Hooper, the sweet and tragic hero of Buster and Billie, the helicopter pilot of Airwolf. He looks the same to me and he always will. Hollywood kills people's souls and it throws them out when they are no longer beautiful or useful. I remain a devoted fan, but more importantly, I remain a grateful fan whose life was made richer by having been entertained by Jan Michael Vincent.
I don't care WHAT sin or flaw one is fighting, EVERY ONE falls down and has to get up. I respect this man for continuing to fight to stay sober, and I pray he has the best of success in the future. My prayers are with him and all of his family. God bless them. I also wish him professional success as well.
Jan Michael Vincent, You have always been a pleasure to watch on screen. In my eyes , you are and will always be highly respected. which ever way you wish to spend your life it's your choice. And we should Love you no less. Your forever fan. William Summerville.
As a young gay man in the 70's and 80's, Jan was my physical ideal. I did everything I could to look like him (having been graced with the same Nordic looks). He was my role model. I am so sorry he fell into an abyss from drugs and alcohol. Some people are indeed predisposed. I know one man who was a Bible thumping minister. Never had a drink. Then he did. One drink and he couldn't stop - ruined his entire life, dieing alone. I am glad Jan has a supportive family.
RIP Jan, drugs and booze gave him a kick in but I’ll always remember him in Airwolf , White line fever, Vigilante Force, Hooper, he was as cool as they come , a true Star, they don’t make em like that anymore RIP Legend .......
I only really saw this guy in "Big Wednesday". I loved the film, and Jan Michael was inspiring. We all fall over, in our own ways and in our own time. God Bless you Jan.
I've LOVED this guy since 1972! He seems like a most humble, honest, just all around nice guy who had some inner demons he had a hard time shaking. He will always have a huge piece of MY heart. It's nice to know there are good people out there who don't criticize him and put him down. THEY don't understand addictions like you and I do. I wish you the best and continued success. And I wish Jan all the best and I hope he is doing well. He is STILL the most beautiful man on earth.
This is not sad, this is the story of a man who is fighting for his life right now. This is the story of a man with problems with alcohol but I always will remember him like STRINGFELLOW HAWK. God bless you Jan Michael Vincent
One of my favorite actors. He has his best years ahead of him. Adversity makes you a better stronger person. He is a rock now. He can help a lot of people and himself at the same time.
He was amazing in everything I ever saw him perform in and had such a crush on him throughout my high school years in the 1980's. I am so sorry that he is destroying himself one drink at a time, but he isn't helpless: he can beat addiction when he stops the anger, pity, resentment and hiding from himself. I live in chronic pain and know how easy it is to slip from taking what you need to in order to function and blindly consuming what you want to escape from the physical (as well as mental) pain. He is a man I'd love to sit down on the porch with an iced tea, fire up the BBQ and talk to all night.
i think he looks pretty good. he looks younger than he did about 3-4 years ago. this guy was one of my heros when i was growing up and watching airwolf. i wish you well jan. take it one day at a time brother.
I fell so sad for jan i used to love airwolf,i've just watched an episode on tv and wondered what he was doing,i hope he can sort his life out,and enjoy the rest of his life and his family
What a beautiful daughter ! She must have suffered greatly but her love gave him something to live for I’m sure- something Hollywood could never give him. I’m sorry he had so many demons as it seems like he had everything
Very thoughtful comment, Austin. It hurts me to hear people putting him down and criticizing him. Saying he sold out. He's a looser. And horrible things I won't repeat. Jan-Michael Vincent shot to stardom at a very young age. He had every female out there mesmerized with those eyes, those dimples and that smile. I was so in love with him.Still am.Always will be.I wish I could have helped him. I have a photo of him his cousin gave me in 1985 that I will always cherish.I wish him well.
I grew up on air wolf and other things at the time starring you luckily you have a beautiful daughter in your corner and family behind you keep trying!
As an actor in Hollywood now, it pains me to watch these interviews but is such a good lesson to learn in all of our lives. As a leading man there comes a "stereotype" of what and how you should conduct yourself early in your career. Babes, boos, and brawls so to speak. The reality is no one wants to have that kind of life. I pray that he continues to seek sobriety and happiness in his life. Choose the road less traveled and you just might catch your star. God Bless
Man this is sad :( I used to watch his shows and movies. I had no idea he wound up like this :( It looks like he's got a family who loves and cares for him though. Sometimes that's all there is left in life. I also hope he's doing better today :)
LOVE this guy, and I owe him a lot via his work in films I went to see as a kid, like White Line Fever and Shadow Of The Hawk, which gave me some much needed happiness. I'm an ex-user too, who grew up in his teens playing metal, touring, drinking, and drugging. I get it. Here's wishing Jan the best!
Jan Michael Vincent, I hope that wherever you are, if you're still around, you've found a way to be happy again, far away from all the booze and drugs and everything else that happened to you. Even if you never get back in front of the camera, your example is an inspiration.
Booze and drugs didn't happen to him, people have choice! And please, I'm not being horrible here, I push the envelope at times with substances, and it is a choice!
One of my favorite actors of all time. I remember the movie Buster and Billie which Jan starred in in 1974. Incredible performance by him. Had a very quiet resonance, sort of Charles Bronson like, except with vulnerability. I hope the best for him.
The thing I don't get is that his addiction is his business. I don't think because he made movies he owes the public an apology, justifications, or explanations. It is between him, his family, and law enforcment if he violates law. Thats it...for me anyway
He is trying. Addiction is like cancer. Addiction is a disease NOT a choice. Nobody wants to be an addict. Addiction is very very very seductive and sneaky and changes your chemistry in your brain and body. He is trying his best. He knows, he fights and he tries every single day to rise above this. I wish him the best.
Would be nice if he did make a comeback...working with big name directors, even if it's a small role..something to get him back in the public eye..I could see him being in a Quentin Tarantino movie for one...
Damn, This sucks. I feel really sorry for Jan. I hope that some how , some way hel'll be free of this turmoil he suffers. I'll never forget what he had contributed to us in the 80's. Airwolf may be gone but it is not forgotten.
People can change, sometimes it takes a event that affects the heart to turn you around. I should know, Back in 1985 I messed up. In the end I lost the first gal I ever truely loved. For the first time I hurt myself too. It was then I promised myself to not ever end up like that again, and to this day I haven't. He just has to know that people care. I have always been a fan of JMV. My best goes out to him. I am one fan you will never lose, I understand more then you know.
I always liked Jan Michael - Just saw him on a tv movie with Charles Bronson and was surprised to hear of his trouble - I hope he can beat his addictions - cuz its never to late - never. Everybody likes a success story - I pray that he will find his success in good health & happiness.
This is sad to watch for me and I've seen enough. I pray he goes on a spiritual pilgrimage to find his inner self and come to terms with his demons. That's the only way I know that would help him overcome his drinking addiction.
There has been some audio vids of Jan,done the year before he died,I believe. He talked about a lot of things & said he wanted his fans to know the real JMV.One thing he said was he wished he'd known how much he was loved & how much he loved & appreciated his fans.I just wish he could've seen these beautiful comments on this site.I think he would've been very touched.RIP caro, you will always be remembered.
To me he's a star airwolf the most handsome we have that kind people in our family handsome alcahal druggs god bless you your daughter just like you beautiful I
hang in there bro, even though you are a constant source of irritation to the good Lord, he loves ya and he's pulling for you too, I'm a fellow alcoholic too, but, amazingly, through divine intervention and grim determination, I was able to turn my situation around
Yes my friend Jan Micheal Vincent was great in "The Mechanic" he was a 27 year old cocky kid then . Had the loooks the money and the talent. What happened?
@xtremepayne True that brother I can relate with that..I have lost things for stupid reasons..and I didn't care. It's not when I got older I look back and say I shouldn't have done that. A good actor. Still brings back memories growing watching Airwolf and I would jump up and down when the intro came.
I saw him in a bit part in the movie Buffalo 66, which is why I started researching him. He really looked messed up in that movie. Whay Vincent Gallo would employ a man who obviously needed help confounds me. I hope Jan is doing well. But, it's obvious that two care accidents didn't mess him up as musc as the drugs.
This guy was the most gorgeous man I ever laid eyes on...BETTER than Brad Pitt! It's just horrific to see what booze & drugs can do to a man. Judging from all the interviews I've seen him in, he lived his whole life in denial. Even now as a withered old man with one leg, he is so detached from reality it's not even funny. God blessed him with movie star looks and opportunity and he threw it all away! He should be the poster boy for drug & alcohol abuse. With before and after shots.
Some people cruise through fame and some fall on the way .fame is the devil in disguise, for everything good it gives it takes two things away and I guess for jan it just took to much,I hope he finds peace because you wouldn't choose his life any more than he did,god bless jan and give him strength .
fortunately for me....the experiences in my youth with booze and "the other stuff" was so bad that I learned my lesson well.....it just isnt worth the puking or the paranoia
I just read a comment on another RUclips video saying that jan is dead please tell me this is not true. I remember Saturday afternoons like it was yesterday 1:30 air wolf time !!!!!

This is the story of a man with problems with alcohol but I always will remember him like STRINGFELLOW HAWK.
God bless you Jan Michael Vincent
I Always Was a Fan of Jan Michael Vincent
Sad at One Point He was
Bigger than Any Teen Idol. Drugs Destroyed His Life and Talent
One of my favorite actors. He has his best years ahead of him. Adversity makes you a better stronger person. He is a rock now. He can help a lot of people and himself at the same time.
he has to help himself and is obviously incapable of doing that but positive all the way regardless.
Stay strong Jan Micheal Vincent and u will get through your troubles x
He was amazing in everything I ever saw him perform in and had such a crush on him throughout my high school years in the 1980's.

PRAY 4 US WITH
THIS "DISEASE".
Let's not forget that Stringfellow Hawk kept a liquor cabinet too.
One of my favorite actors of all time. I remember the movie Buster and Billie which Jan starred in in 1974. Incredible performance by him. Had a very quiet resonance, sort of Charles Bronson like, except with vulnerability. I hope the best for him.
I watched B&B on UTube a few years back. I haven’t looked since but I bet you can find it. (It was free, and ran continuously.)
Loved him in "Tribes" and "Sandcastles". Wish him well.
The thing I don't get is that his addiction is his business. I don't think because he made movies he owes the public an apology, justifications, or explanations. It is between him, his family, and law enforcment if he violates law. Thats it...for me anyway

My favorite show back then.
Airwolf was part of my growing up. I remembered scrambling to get my homeworks done in time to see Airwolf.
Would be nice if he did make a comeback...working with big name directors, even if it's a small role..something to get him back in the public eye..I could see him being in a Quentin Tarantino movie for one...
To all of us truckers he will allways be carrol jo hummer by far the best truckin movie ever made.
Damn, This sucks. I feel really sorry for Jan. I hope that some how , some way hel'll be free of this turmoil he suffers. I'll never forget what he had contributed to us in the 80's. Airwolf may be gone but it is not forgotten.
he is still a good looking man for his age but his daughter is beautiful...good gene pool.
loved that guy! what a sad story and waste. hope he found his way and is enjoying the latter half of his life now!
Considering what he has gone through, he doesn't look too bad for 60 something. It's never too late to make a come back.
People can change, sometimes it takes a event that affects the heart to turn you around. I should know, Back in 1985 I messed up. In the end I lost the first gal I ever truely loved. I always liked Jan Michael - Just saw him on a tv movie with Charles Bronson and was surprised to hear of his trouble - I hope he can beat his addictions - cuz its never to late - never. Everybody likes a success story - I pray that he will find his success in good health & happiness.
Love you bro....please hang in there a little while longer!
Lamentável. Mas enquanto há vida, há esperança.
I wish you the best to get back on you feet again. Mr Vincent!!
Yup. I just watched the 2007 one. With my fist in my mouth. OH MY GOD. Poor, poor guy.
This is sad to watch for me and I've seen enough. I pray he goes on a spiritual pilgrimage to find his inner self and come to terms with his demons. That's the only way I know that would help him overcome his drinking addiction.

Stay strong Mr. Vincent.
