Don't mind this man...he knows nothing about Russia. The kind of changes that have taken place in Russia in recent years is stunning to say the least. The multiple layers of sanctions placed on Russia after the Ukraine crisis, Russia's counter sanctions and its 'import substitution' program has had a dramatic effect on the economy. Russia is one of the most diversified, self-sufficient nation in the G20 with the least amount of debt. Its 24th in the Ease of Doing Business rankings surpassing even Japan! Russia's agriculture is breaking records and the country now produces more grain than the US, Europe, Canada or Australia. It's technology is highly diversified. Its one of the few nations that can build aircraft engines and the only nation that now has hypersonic weapons like Avangard and Kinzhal. Massive infrastructural projects are being built all across the nation, from high speed rail to shipyards (Zvezda shipyard being one of the world's largest!), Amur Gas Processing plant (again one of the world's largest), a whole new spaceport Vostochny Cosmodrome, major expressways, large airports, massive shipment terminals like Ust-Luga and Taman, the beautiful Crimean bridge. Russia is also one of the most dollar deleveraged economies in the world, meaning that the country's economy does not depend on the dollar a whole lot. Russia's healthcare, education and social services have been greatly improved since the 90s. Russia does have problems like population decline which improved in the 2010s but is again in decline and lower general standards of living which Russia is trying to improve. But there is a lot of work that needs to be done in that respect. Overall, Russia is on a very strong footing. It's not a white Saudi Arabia or a North Korea like this ignorant person says it is, but is on its way to become an uber Germany!

Russia is now diversified in many ways and has been so since the west imposed sanctions on them. It is a massive country with lots of arable land, much of which is now under use.
