Hey Adam, thank you for your videos. I have heard that compressions checks should be done while the engine is hot rather than cold. What are your thoughts on this?
Hello Mr.Drake I have a big problem, I brought an novarossi mito 9 port and the sleeve has been installed backwards... can you give me a way to remove the piston liner? Please 🙏
Hi Adam. Thanks for great tips!! How long it should hold itself by seal. I mean i tried this method for my old engines, all is holding for a while then started to fall down slowly. Is it normal ?
I pinched a picco .12 7 port for my Jammin crt.5 with a cb antenna mount and a vise, carefully. I got another 3 gallons through it after that, replaced the rod at the same time, just for an experiment ! but it worked.
Hey Adam, congratulations for the races on DNC! Very nice are you racing. Question you still sealing your engines with high temp silicone? Or the new engines don't need that?
Hey Adam, do you remove a shim from the shim stack on Novarossi engines I heard of some people taking a shim out after break in. And also when you do the compression test do you add some oil to the plug hole? Thanks
In almost all conditions I would use the stock head shimming for OS and Nova engines if you're running 25% - 30% fuel. If the engine is getting old and low on compression you can remove a small shim to try and extend the life of the engine. I put 6-8 dropped of oil in through the exhaust port to store the engine, but not usually for doing the compression test.
How are you doing drake I have a running werks racing b3 pro II engine on my team associated rc8 b3.1 nitro buggy and I'm debating about upgrading to a b5 pro II or a novarossi Keep Off 7xl or a novarossi Karma which one should I upgrade to in the future
hello Adam, in my new Novarossi I run 20% nitro fuel would the original shim stack be ok, so far the engine has been running good so I think I should leave the shim stack where it is. My second question is with my older Novarossi how come the engine is able to hold itself up when I have some oil in the engine but when it’s dry it cannot hold as long. Thanks
Yes, the stock shimming is for 25% - 30% fuel, but it won't hurt anything if your running 20%. You could remove a thin shim with the 20% if you need a little more power. The oil will help increase pressure and have better seal.
There's a special tool made for resizing or pinching the sleeve to help extend the life of engines. It's a service I offer for .21, .25, and .28 engines.
Adam, nice vid. What's going to happen with Nitro? What do you see happening to the sector? I'm not interested in Electric, just got into the hobby now (2021 yikes, where was I all these years!??) I didn't even know such a cool hobby existed, I was in Africa. Nitro parts hard to find these days - especially for road nitros with 2-speed engines.

I just picked up a Mugen truggy. It has a reds Corsa lunga in it but I'm unsure of how much it's been ran. In the event that I do need to replace the motor. Besides another reds motor what would be another good motor
Hi Adam, lately I’ve spent a lot of time tuning my engine. Last weekend in similar conditions it ran great but this weekend required probably 8 hours of leaning to get it to clear out on the straight. Is this a common symptom for a worn engine?
I have got an Os Speed Spec 2. It has got almost no compression, because there are very deep and long scratches on the piston. But it runs ok. What should I do.
I would keep running it until you have problems at this point. Usually with scratches in the piston it will loose seal and not run well, but sometimes they keep going. :) You could resize the sleeve if needed, but if it's running well I would just keep running it.
If the sleeve resizing is done correct, you don't need to run through a break-in process. I just recommend being a little conservative with the HSN the first few tanks.
Hello mr drake, is it normal that my engine is super easy to turn when it is fully saturated with heat. Also is it normal for an engine to idle higher when cold but when it warms up the idle drops down and smooths out
Dear my drake. My nitro motor has blow buy it has no compression at all. I here air seap buy the piston on the compression stroke. It only has 1 gallon it. It is very new I ordered a new piston and sleve for it. It is a Nova Rossi keep off 4 port tuned motor
Mabee something else causing it to feel like its low compression. Check the front bearing and Id also make sure all the orings are good. Check the seal between carb and block and back plate and block. Also make sure the cooling head is screwed down tight.
By holding the engine after race when everything is cool down my engine tries to fall but after cleaning and going thorough with the engine it doesn't fall
@@infinumrc5825 Yes, this is normal for the engine to have more compression and better seal when everything is cool. When everything is still hot or warm, the sleeve is expanded and will have less compression. As long as it holds it's self up when cool, you should be fine.
I'll work on a video for that, but usually if the front bearing is leaking it's bad and if the engine is making noise and not idling well the rear bearing is bad.
