Attended his blue plaque opening in Cirencester in 2016. Fellow musicians Brian May, Suzi Quatro, Carl Palmer, and Tony Iommi were all there celebrating Cozy’s life and drumming skills. I wore my Emerson Lake and Powell badge which was acknowledged by Carl when I spoke to him.
It was such honour to be there and I will never forget this day.

A truly nice bloke. The landlord at the Saracens Head in Daventry which had live bands every weekend back in the early 90's said he was mates with Cozy Powell and said he would get him to play, needless to say we were skeptical but true to his word got him to come he came and sat in with the band and played a whole set for free. Not many rock legends would do that. RIP Cozy.

Cozy is one of my favourite drummers of all time, first time I ever heard him was ‘dance with the devil’ from 1974, the B side of the top 10 single was called ‘then there was skin’ then a good friend of mine told me he had a n album called ‘Over the top’ in 1979, it blew me away and still does to this day. One day in the mid 1980's Lemmy brought me and my bass guitar (fender precision special) to jam with Cozy and a guitarist playing at that time. Cozy stated that women bass players were useless and lacked the aggression and attention to the drummer, needed on the bass. So, I walked up to Cozy, reached across his kit and hit him hard on the head with my headstock. Unfortunately as i pulled back his middle tom caught my headstock and a tiny chip out of it. That tiny chip is there to this day. Cozy decide to play and was really impressed with me, and told Lemmy he was right - "she's the most aggressive bass player I've ever met other that YOU". Lemmy laughed and said to Cozy "well, I did warn you". Cozy laughed back and a said "I've never been actually physically attacked by a bass player, until now".

Brilliant drummer but a stupid needless death. I just glad he didn't take anyone else out when he crashed.

Cellphones in 1998? Must’ve been a big boxy Nokia with an antenna!

I used to always think that he and drummer from Slade were brothers.

Recommend anyone find the recording of The Jeff Beck Group Live at The Paris Theatre, featuring Jeff Beck (Guitar); Cozy Powell (Drums); Clive Chaman (Bass); Bobby Tench (Vocals and 2nd Guitar) ; Max Middleton (Piano & Electric Piano). Recorded to promote The Jeff Beck Group album release (Orange on cover). Occasional interruptions from DJ/MC Mike Harding (not the Lancashire Cowboy, a different Scottish Mike Harding). Amazing band. It's one of my favourite Jeff Beck recordings.
