Hi everyone. Thanks again for all of your kind and thoughtful messages. I really appreciate them! Just to let you know, the feature film - as it stands - isn't going to be made. The project fell through some years ago, which I have accepted. However, that isn't to say I'm not proud or thankful for this short film. I am delighted you are enjoying it and hope you will continue to spread the good word about Cozy and his fantastic body of work. 🙂
Hi Lee Just seen this. It's a shame the project fell through. I would have loved to have seen an in depth documentary about Cozy. One of my favourites. He went far too early. Thanks for this short clip.
What I'd recommend, provided you've got the clearance for them, is to release all the raw interviews you have gotten. People would love to hear more about Cozy from everyone who knew him. Particularly curious to see the full Graham Bonnet interview.
Im 58 and played most styles of music for 45 years.Cozy was and still is my favourite drummer of all time, the strange thing is ive no idea why,he just had IT.Sadly missed.
Dance with the devil was the actual record that infected me!. I became obsessed with drums and drumming after that!. Learnt to play, mostly self taught, played in lots of different bands all over the place purely on an amateur or semi pro basis, had a wail of a time! 🥁🎵🎼💃💃🎉👄🍺🍾🎭💰 Thanks Cozy.
There are several moments which has ended with deep grief and sadness; in 2010 when the great Ronnie James Dio died, that was a very sad day, because I did not know that he was that sick. In july 2012 when the great Jon Lord passed away, that was more than sadness, a complete nightmare and of course april 5th 1998 when Cozy Powell died. That was a very sad day,,as well I´m glad I got the chance to see him live a couple of times with Black Sabbath. R. I. P. Cozy!
I love Carl Palmer but I saw ELPowell live in Detroit back in October of 1986 at the Fox Theater and I gotta say Cozy just killed it on the drums. He was awesome!
Me too, I am a huge ELP fan, but when Cozy had to sub in for Carl Palmer, busy with Asia, he did a magnificent job. After the Love Beach fiasco, Cozy gave a fresh air to the genious of Keith and Greg. Unbelievable!!!! I would have loved to see more of the three of them
I was a very young teenager when we used to play "Dance with the Devil" on a Jukebox in my city of birth (Venice). Just think, a hit song, where the main instrument is the drum!!! Only Cozy Powell could have done it.
There were rumors, I also read where Jimmy said that they did jam with Cozy. Cozy and Bonham were good friends, both exceptional drummers and lovers of motor cars, especially fast cars
Cozy was the coolest such a towering figure in the Rock world. His work with the Jeff Beck Group are my favorite two albums of all time .He has played with everyone so ecclectic RIP Cozy you were THE man.
Salute! Saw Cozy with MSG. As a young guitarist,I went to see Michael. Ha,it was great because I spent half the show open mouthed watching Cozy. He had a sound.
Brilliant! Many thanks. I still can't believe the power he generated from the traditional grip on some tracks/parts of tracks. Like Paice he had fast hands and he didn't sacrifice much elegance despite the power. Bonham, Paice, Cozy, Ringo, Moon, Apice, Watts are all really recognisable sounds. This doco lifted what threatened to be a mediocre evening.
Thanks a lot for that story and your effort. Cozy was a huge influence since I heard him first 1989 during Pete York´s Super Drumming sessions in Germany. Since then I tried to get all solo albums which were available. First was the LP "Octopus" with great rock melodies and rock drum solos. Most expensive was a Japanese import CD "Over the top" - but it was 101% worth it. 😎🤘 I compare him with Boris Becker, for example - in the 1980/90ies #1 in the world ranking, but today he would not be able to play in top 100. Cozy was a huge influence, but today his drumming sounds very basic, simple in comparison to highly academic rock giants like Mike Portnoy and similar. He had a huge influence on thousands of drummers, from Simon Phillips to me, no doubt though. ✌time to play "The Rattler" now! 🤟
Cozy went to the audition for the Jeff Beck Group and the room was full of drummers with all of their kits set up and Jeff looked at Cozy with his two bass drums and said ok lets hear it and Cozy did his thing and Jeff said- ok, the rest of you can f- off (!) 😂 🥁
in the early 1970s a new kid appeared a few doors along & his dad Brian was the spitting image of Cozy & owned a scary looking album by Sabbath & as dads went he was a really wild dude ,wasn’t there very often & eventually left the mum whom worked in Salisbury completely. Back then us 9 yr old nippers only recognised Cozy from Top of the Pops. On getting into rock a few years after & learning of Cozys’ exciting reputation & that we lived only a few miles south of Wiltshire I began to wonder if these guys were related !
I thank you for the video and I am very proud and thrilled to see my name in the credits. Thanks a lot, friend! Do you have the subtitles of this documentary available, for me to post on the Cozy Powell 4ever channel? It would be an honor to publish it with subtitles in English and Brazilian Portuguese, so more people would know the great human being and drummer that Cozy Powell was. Thanks again!🤟🤘🇧🇷🇬🇧🥁🔥🙏👍
I feel so emotional about this. Cozy was my inspiration to start drumming and a hero for me but I nearly killed myself driving drunk to go see a girlfriend. I got lucky, he didn't and it just doesn't seem fair to me.
Furthermore, I am now drumming for the London-based post-punk band The Silence. Keep up to date with all the latest news by following us on Instagram: @The_Silence_UK.
I see the name 'Dave Ball' (RIP)up there in the Credits. He was a brilliant (IMO) blues/rock guitarist who played with Mr Powell in a band called "Bedlam". They should have been much more famous; toured the USA as support to Black Sabbath IIRC. The story of how they split up is a very interesting one but fairly typical of the music scene I'm afraid.
Sorry dude. But cozy is no Bonham and there were several drummers who would have been able to handle the drums for LedZep…one was Aynsley Dunbar…cozy had no foot ..
The intro to Rainbow's Stargazer will always be my favourite piece of drumming. Love Cozy.
Agree, though his intro for 'Lost in Hollywood' is there too.
You can tell when Cozy Powell is drumming on ANY song, absolutely unique and very special indeed....Thee Master , never be another " COZY POWELL 💕".

Maybe this is a stupid question by why is it not being made?
oh no, really? that is so sad:( i would have loved to see all the interviews

gone but never forgotten

Cozy was an incredible drummer.
Cause he was incredible drummer
First time I saw Cozy was at the Marquee club with Bedlam.
Powerhouse!
If Zeppelin chose to forge on after Bonham's death, Cozy Powell would have been the ONLY logical choice to fill in the drum stool.
Agreed. No doubt about it 👌
There were rumors, I also read where Jimmy said that they did jam with Cozy. Cozy and Bonham were good friends, both exceptional drummers and lovers of motor cars, especially fast cars
Aynsley Dunbar might not have been too bad either!
He was almost Jimi's drummer- just a flip of a coin that went Mitch's way.
BJ Wilson might've been an option too. Page was a fan of his. He also hit hard, and had elite chops.
RIP Cozy
I saw him with Whitesnake a couple of times in Portland in the early 80s. Fantastic drummer and an influential musician to many.
Cozy was the coolest such a towering figure in the Rock world. His work with the Jeff Beck Group are my favorite two albums of all time .He has played with everyone so ecclectic RIP Cozy you were THE man.

Absolutely, fantastic performances,
One favourite artist. Thank you.
Impresionant documentar!Cozy Powell LEGENDARY!

Cozy was the coolest drummer ever
Cozy Powell!
LEGEND!
🤘🏻
hE Is
hE BEST
Cozy Powell FOREVER! Thank you!
He is the best drummer there will ever be
My Hero He was
Cozy was superb full stop but my favourite performances were when he was the P in ELP, power personified RIP Cozy you are a true legend ❤
I Love him with MSG! So heavy and that Double Bass work still stands on it's own! Thanks for your passion and efforts!
Zeke
Awesome I wish there was more this man needs to be further appreciated. RIP Cozy!
Brilliant documentary. What a drummer he was.

Mr. Colin "Cozy Powell" Trevor Flooks 🥁 😢 😎🤘
Cozy was my hero even before I knew who he was. 😢

I can't wait to see the full movie when it comes out!
Peter Busacca, BA, MBA, ACHA, LNHA
Author of the book: How A Nursing Home Works
Brilliant
Associated with so many great bands: Rainbow, MSG, Emerson Lake Powell, Whitesnake, Black Sabbath, etc.
Very nice set of tid bits. Are we to believe there will be a full film om Cozy?
The best!
when is this being released... anyone knows?? I'm a huge fan of his work.
My dad had this on a single seven inch. Still see him air drumming in the front room to this..😂

Still I’m Sad ❤
One of the greats
Thank you for this 🖤
Slide It In!!
Cozy, paice, and Eric Carr and Bonham are my mount Rushmore of drummers.
Honorable mention. Neil peart
As great as Eric was, Carmine and Vinnie Appice have to be my other picks, with Cozy and Paice on each side. The kings of rock.
Eric Carr? you're joking,right?
It seems to me that a lot of rock stars and actors have crazy outside interests that are very dangerous.
I feel so emotional about this. Cozy was my inspiration to start drumming and a hero for me but I nearly killed myself driving drunk to go see a girlfriend. I got lucky, he didn't and it just doesn't seem fair to me.
Awesome 👍

When will the film be ready? where can we watch?

Alot of guys think they're playing like Cozy, but there not. Hilarious.
A truly Great Drummer taken too soon.
Is that priest Tony Iommi?
I think Cozy would have made a great replacement for John Bonham had Led Zeppelin carried on. 2 fabulous drummers gone way too soon
Let's make sure Simon Phillips doesn't drink and drive.
Aww the world ain't the same without Cozy he was the best
👍🏿
Sorry dude. But cozy is no Bonham and there were several drummers who would have been able to handle the drums for LedZep…one was Aynsley Dunbar…cozy had no foot ..
Got to see Cozy in WS on the Slide it in tour.
did this movie ever get made??
Sadly, not, and it appears it won’t.
This video’s description gives more information about it.
