- Following one of the standout titles in the early current-gen era is Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, the hotly anticipated follow-up to a predecessor which shook up the series in gigantic ways.
Of those changes, returning is the RPG-like turn-based combat, albeit with refinements to freshen up the dynamism of fighting. Streetwise underdog Ichiban Kasuga returns as a central protagonist, only this time he’s joined by Kazuma Kiryu, the hard-fisted mainstay of the series up to its seventh iteration.
Infinite Wealth substitutes Japan’s seedy underbelly for the tropical climbs of Hawaii too. With an emotional story the beating heart, and enough side distractions to fill lesser games, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is shaping up to be a massive undertaking, but quite possibly one of the best games of 2024.

Well the games were only called Yakuza in the west. The series has always been called Ryu Ga Gotoku in Japan which means Like A Dragon, so it’s just having the same name everywhere now.
I'm a big fan of yakuza 7 and the introduction of Ichiban to the series. I think he's a really awesome protagonist and I'm hyped to see Kiryu being the co-protagonist this time along. The series has always delivered on value and this one looks bigger than ever before. Definitely looking forward to working through the game after I beat control/Alan wake 2.

I only played it after like a dragon I was wondering who this guy was and that guy with an eye patch they seemed important but nothing really tells you about them. I'm glad I did not only did they have great charters and story but one of the best Mimi games I've ever played with an annoyingly great soundtrack..... I wanna be your girl stay all night and sit tight in sofa.

I started Yakuza 7 just 3 days ago and im loving it, surprised how well the Turn Based still felt fluid if you block on time and follow with attacks or special moves quickly then it honestly didnt feel extremely different aside from not being able to manually move my character 🤷 looking forward to 8 😎👌

man sega really spend lot of budget to promote IW like this video , I've never seen sega do it before. Sega definitely want it to be the most hot-seller game in the series.
Probably cause this is gonna be the biggest yakuza based on what devs said, and one of the few yakuza games that ain't mostly recycled.
played like a dragon, was my first yakuza game. I dont know how to explain the game feeling like it gives good value for the money vs being too long. I know the cutscenes are long in these series from research, but man....they are just SO LONG. I really wanna play the sequel for the base building thing though lol

This whole thing reminds me of the final fantasy xvi debacle. I never played the yakuza games but when I found out about 7 I played and loved it. Most fun turn based combat I’ve ever played. And I will continue with the series going forward.
Final fantasy I loved as it was but have no interest in where they are headed now.
Both companies took a gamble and shat on their current fan base to attract new fans. From what I’ve heard it paid off for Sega with Yakuza. Square is not happy with the numbers for final fantasy but sales could’ve been just because it wasn’t multi platform.
I major difference, in my opinion, between these franchises is yakuza had a loyal but smaller fan base than final fantasy so the yakuza gamble was less risk. I don’t think it was wise for them to change final fantasy so much financially speaking. They risked losing too many fans AND many of them play on Nintendo and not PlayStation.
Anyway, as far as this game goes, I sympathize with disappointed fans as I feel the same about Final Fantasy. I hope the other action series Judgement helps in filling the void.
Huge fan of original. I didn’t think I’d like the turn based. I didn’t buy it or play it for 7 months. Then I gave it a try and it was easily as good as Yakuza 0, which is my favorite game of all time.
You had almost the same path as me 😊 : i Played Yakuza 0 back duting the summer of 2020, without knowing if i would be appealed by it and it became my favourite serie of game .. then i bought Like a Dragon 🐉( which i played several months later ) and it became my favourite along with Yakuza 0 .. i liked them both but i did fall in love with the turn based combat more although not being necessarly used to it but it was one of the feature since the beginning of the promo of Yakuza 7 which attracted me the most, to not say THE feature 😉
And here we are 3 years after i finished Like a Dragon back in 2021 waiting for the Game i waited for the Most .. it had been a long time i was not waiting for a game as much .. Yakuza 0 and Like a Dragon are the 2 games i played the most in my entire life ..
Before then i was a fan of God Of War, but since Yakuza 0 and Like a Dragon i became more interested in The Yakuza Franchise ( i did play and finished most of the Spin offs but did not liked Kiwami 1 🙃 not nearly as good as 0 or Like a Dragon / Kiwami 2 demo was much more appealing to me, so i bought it in 2022 but never played it because i would have in the furure to restart Kiwami 1 and finish it this time 😅 )
But i cannot wait to have my hands on Infinite Wealth .. too long since i have not been excited fir the release of a Game ( Yes not even Spider-Man 2, God Of War Ragnarök, Hogwarts Legacy, Jedi Survivor .. ) out of this list i only played Ragnarok and it was Good ..
This grandblue fantasy persona 3. Final fantasy. All come out so close together. I don't know what to get first. I might save this for last. Because you have that one like sukoden coming out in a few months
This year is stacked for JRPG fans! I won't either have the time nor money for everything.
I liked Yakuza before Like a Dragon fine but Like a Dragon made me love it. Combat was much more fun for me in that one.
What combat? It's fkn turn based it's so dog shite. I had to spend hours grinding in dungeons and in sotenbori just to proceed with the story smh
@@dustyzbrick9510 Maybe for you but I like Turn Based, I don’t like brawlers. So it was the other way round for me I pushed on with the other Yakuza games for the story not gameplay
@BetterCallJim yea it's still cool how you can enjoy both games for the story no matter what type of player you are, turn based or brawler. I still enjoyed 7.

@hovsep56 skill issue? There is no skill in a turn based rpg what are you taking about😭. It's either grind long enough to the fights are quick or dont grind amd sit there for an hour every boss fight healing every turn. The game just becomes spam orbital Lazer at one point
So kiryu is basically a legend fighting cancer??? Not mocking it. It makes sense. I'm just shocked we haven't heard about anything like DRAGON-DIE or TOJO/DIE virus.

I can't wait either.
I played Y:LAD around a month ago. I loved its storytelling aspect as it's one of the most story rich video games I played (yes I know most Yakuza games had long stories). Ichiban was the star of the show by far. I like his character more than Kiryu, Ichiban has more personality. But what I did not like about Y:LAD was that it was far too much of a grind. I hope Infinite Wealth does not require as much grinding, otherwise I don't know if I can bring myself to play it. Also I hope the turn based combat is improved. It needs to give us control to use objects in the environment during our turn, in Y:LAD it was only only randomly automatic and rare.
You are in luck because this game allows you to control your party during each turn. You can move around (in a radius) & pick up object for extra damage.
Any jrpg requires some amount of grinding yakuza like a dragon wasnt bad compared to any old school jrpg this one wont be any different

I may not be the biggest fan of the new gameplay style but as much as I've played of 7 the characters are pretty damn good, though zero and kiwami 2 are the best in the series in my opinion.

I loved like a dragon so much that it got me to go back and play the other games. While I don't care for the style of the older games, I do understand why they are so popular, but I prefer the turn-based style of combat.

I enjoyed like a dragon but never finished it because those last 4 chapters are way to difficult what these games need is a difficulty options that you can change at will not limiting difficulty to new game plus that’s dumb because the issue I have found with like a dragon is it’s way to easy and then the last 4 chapters are near impossible I’m not grinding the arena for hours it’s not fun if you have to grind constantly something is wrong with your game simple as that hope they tone down difficulty in infinite wealth if not won’t be finishing that also

The tower is recommended to you during chapter 12 you basically level up every other floor

Yes, Like A Dragon 8 has an English dub. RGG have been doing English dubs for a while now.

@@xbon1 That’s strange. I played Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise, Judgment, Lost Judgment, Like A Dragon 7 and the demo of Like A Dragon 8 all with English dub. Yes it does has one. Oops almost forgot the very first game on PS2, it only had English dub!

There's nothing annoying about people who feel dogged by Ryu Ga Gotoku being the only guys making proper 3D beat em ups with AAA budgets to just making another TBRPG

I’ve been playing since the first game on PS2 and I feel Like A Dragon 7 is the best game so far, from playing the demo that came with Like A Dragon: Gaiden, I feel 8 is going to be even better.

I wish the last one was more classic Final Fantasy and not Dragon Quest inspired. DQ is so formulaic and boring. I don't see the appeal.

Im not a huge fan of this series way to goofy and comedic for me. If it were way more raw and serious the I'd play them but not how they are. Only one I thought was decent was Like A Dragon Ishin and that was just ok don't like the combat system and how goofy it is

@@KingShibe I think he’s going through his edgy everything needs to be raw and serious for me to enjoy phase, he’ll hopefully grow out of that stage.
Trust me the story is very serious, for example the ending of like a dragon gaiden was sad as hell.

I hated the turn based, grind and goofyness of Yakuza: Like A Dragon. This looks even worse. I'm enjoying Gaiden currently, but I'm not dealing with this one. I'll just watch the cutscenes online to see how they end the story for Kiryu. I find the studio has been going downhill after 6, and the only game I'm enjoying from this studio since then is Gaiden. It's a shame since Yakuza was my favorite series of all time, but lately it's just catering to a whole different target audience. Considering this is possibly Kiryu's last game, they should of made it brawler for OG fans.
Also, for those who stand by the studio still....I find they are treating the fans quiet poorly. No physical for Gaiden, forcing us to import a copy from Asia if we wanted physical. Also no New Game + in Gaiden. Lastly this new game, you'll have to pay DLC for new game plus. Seems like they are becoming EA games or something.
