Panasonic Professional S-VHS Deck AG-7350 - Rattles when Lacing/Unlacing - Removing the Head Cleaner

This deck works, but makes a horrible rattling noise when lacing and unlacing. Here's how we fix it.
I particularly like the aesthetics of these machines. There's something about the traditional moving-coil VU meters illuminated by incandescent bulbs, and the boxy angular design with the cassette slot offset to one side that just floats my boat.

Any issues with e-3 errors?

I can't remember if it was E-3, but I did once get an error on one of these machines that had been in storage for a long time, but the fault seemed to clear itself after a couple of power cycles.
