Range Rover P38 - changing the spring in the tailgate release button

Hey , can a stuck release button mess with the becm, preventing the p38 from starting?

So I don't think failure of the tailgate switch can itself prevent the P38 from starting (at least I never had that issue), but it may be a symptom of a bigger problem with the locks/alarm/immobiliser that is messing with the becm.
