    Any chance you could make a video in the future about visualizing distances from the right side of your car while driving? Visualizing distances on the left side while driving is easy since that is where the driver is sitting but it's much harder to tell how close you are driving to the parked cars on the right side.

    I already have a drivers license and mostly practice safe driving habits (imo, maybe a bit too extreme for some people 🤷). However, I always watch these kinds of videos from time to time to help prepare myself.

    However (where I am from), I always find a bunch of reckless, self-entitled idiots who wants to push me to go faster and ‘beat traffic’ on THEIR terms while disregarding safety. I drive depending on weather condition, road condition, and traffic condition. So, I adjust my speed accordingly and appropriately. However, drivers around me just either don’t understand concept of safety for OTHERS (including themselves) or just care about speed and ‘saving time’ (when they either get into accident later, get pulled over by cop, or stop at the next traffic light).

    However anyone else sees my driving habits, it will not change my mind about how I drive. Just thought I let that out 😂

    I call aquaplaning, hydroplaning

  • @Matticitt
    @Matticitt 7 лет назад

    I don't think switching to neutral under any circumstances is a good idea.

    • @ConduiteFacile
      @ConduiteFacile  7 лет назад

      It could be in this case. Also switching off cruise control if it's on. But that's a lot of stuff to think about in such a short amount of time, so it's not the priority.

    • @shaneegan7354
      @shaneegan7354 7 лет назад +1

      I really enjoy your videos and have used them to help teach my son to drive but this point confused me a bit. Why would you want to lose the ability to apply acceleration if needed? What benefits does being in neutral convey in the case of aquaplaning?
      Thanks again for your very professional videos.

  • @HotPepperLala
    @HotPepperLala 7 лет назад

    What does neutral actually do...? I only know P, R, and D in automatic lol

    • @braydenkelly9166
      @braydenkelly9166 7 лет назад

      neutral does nothing to the car, unlike the other gears that will push your car in the direction, or lock the wheels

    • @ConduiteFacile
      @ConduiteFacile  7 лет назад

      Let's say you need to push your car after you ran out of gas, you put the transmission in neutral. Or when you get towed. Or in some car washes that pull your car with a chain, you would also put in neutral. Don't know if those even exist any more.

    • @Adri9570
      @Adri9570 4 года назад

      @@ConduiteFacile But, in order to avoid aquaplaning, why do you recommend to use neutral instead of just slow down or change to low gears (in manual transmission the latter)? I tought that, either neutral or use the clutch (in manual transmission the latter) are commonly known ways to increase the probability of skidding and loose control. As a matter of fact, my driver's handbook has a section of "Safe driving" with an article about rain explaining this tips to avoid aquaplaning:
      1) Keep calm.
      2) Don't use the brake pedal. Without adhesion the wheels will be blocked if you use the brake pedal.
      3) Slowly take your foot off the gas pedal until the wheels recover contact with the floor.
      4) Hold tightly the steering wheel without turning it, in order to avoid skidding when the car leaves the area with risk of aquaplaning.
      5) Every time you have to go trough a flooded area you must pass it slowly, if possible with low gears (1st or 2nd I guess). Once you leave the flooded area, it's advisable to check the performance of the brakes.
      6) If you can, it's better to avoid the puddles, leaving them aside or between the wheels. The aquaplanning could get worse because of a deviation of the trayectory if the water only acts on the wheels of one side of the car.
      My driving instructor also told me that I mustn't use the neutral gear. He told me that while I was slowing down because of a red light using the lower gears and then the neutral when I was just about to stop completely.
      Thanks for your videos! The most important for me it's the "Turning Vision" one. Sometimes I had some "shock" while looking after cars in a STOP without paying attention to nearby pedestrians suddenly crossing the road in the new street I was taking with my head still turned to watch the traffic.
