Young guru Corvette has short legs in the game. Doesn’t jump as far as most other ships and wallows like a tub in a fight. Tough old ship, though. Looks like an Imperial Star Destroyer. Handles like one, too. The distant worlds expedition was ships making the journey acros tens of thousands of light years of space to parts of the galaxy never reached or explored before. Jumping, say, 22,000 light years in a ship designed for 7 Ishtar year hops at a time, is a long and laborious process, and dangerous.
I tested the exploration mechanics in the beta, and immediately fell in love. No more flying 300kls to scan an ELW. 5-10 minutes to scan an entire system, depending on how many planetary bodies. Less time flying = more time actually exploring.
Mad to think we're over 3 years into Elite Dangerous already. I remember being so hyped back in 2012 when I heard this was going to be a reality! I'm a life time backer and have played for long periods on and off but this years been so big for the game and it's jump in quality and content is massively noticeable in the last 6 months. Frontier have created such an amazing game!
Beautifully produced! I'm still amazed at some of the things I've found after almost 3K hours in-game. I'm really looking forward to Tuesday's launch so I can move my main accounts into the new world of Chapter 4! o7
What i like about elite the most is that it captures the true feel and look of space, no over the top colorful pink, blue or green cartoony space, the type you'll find in literally every other space game, Space is vast, empty & BLACK
The one thing i noticed about this game is that whenever you succeed in doing something for the first time, because you understand what you are doing, it gives you a huge sense of accomplishment. And then to think there's still so much i haven't figured out, yet.
I just joined that game couple of weeks ago - im 35 and I was looking for about a decade for a game, that is relaxing, inspirational and worth to return to. How did I miss this for 6 years? No clue - all I know, that I got older and i am infected with the fun of this beauty! I hope it has a future! Regards from Germany and hopefully we`ll see one another once in a while
Hope that with the new tools all players now can see and enjoy things by themselves instead of waiting for someone to do so for them or in You Tube videos. One of the things that Frontier failed to do is that some things are "hidden" from the player or locked behind a "time gate", instead they should add things for us all to see and experience like in any other game so we all can have fun with it and in the game itself. Hope to see atmospherics next year and some sort of walking around. At least atmospheric landings with more gameplay attached to planets with more SRV types, handcrafted moments and areas in planets for things to do in them and such. And also something that I want to see is some more voice acting and proper storytelling.
Really thinking I should get back into it! I played just after the game dropped on and off until about a year ago. Missed the Distant Worlds expedition due to life events, and stopped playing shortly after the first encounter with Thargoids, although I never got to experience it. So far my best moment is the Saleme event. That, by far, stands out the most to me.
Props to Obsidian and even more to Frontier for keepin' it real in the gaming realm. Distant Worlds was an amazing adventure. If this was the only game that ever worked in VR, I'd be OK with that.
I've started playing q4 2017 and I've now experienced a lot of what has been told in this video but still, this AMAZES me like almost no game did before. I still have a lot to discover and skill to improve and that's exactly what i was searching for when I found this lil gem of a game. Thanks for this video which demonstrates how AWESOME this game can be.
My main Christmas wish is that Frontier will communicate with us more during development of the upcoming seasons. The drip feed approach doesn't work and leaves many wondering what is going on when things aren't delivered or if delivery appears to be slow.
They stopped doing that after the massive amount of shit they've gotten from people when things that were early in development didn't match up with what they got later on. I wish it would be different too, but don't forget what kind of people are also part of this community...
I remember my favourite moment was probably the first time I auto-docked. I still can remember how much I laughed at the classical song playing in the background It caught me off guard
Well, I feel your pain....my expectations have always exceeded delivery.....but that mismatch could be caused by my unreasonable expectations or lack of delivery......I still feel frontier is commited to the dream😀
a recent moment i had that i enjoyed a lot was visiting Persephone. wasn't sure what to expect (other than maybe smacking into the ground). to my suprise there was some volcanism. the area i decided to land at had some geysers and ground was an icy blue. but what hit me suddenly was how dead quiet it was, despite the geysers. maybe how dark it was helped bring that sense of loneliness on out there. it was certainly a calming moment. one i hope to experience again, elsewhere in the galaxy
Playing Elite for quite a fair while and had no idea you could drive around those huge planetside ports. Wish there were more people around on PS4 though, my player interactions have been nothing but flying past some and watching this one guy fly in and out a space station while his ship was freaking out all over the place.
@@incomprehensiblekerfuffle Yeah i'm going to sign up for the distant worlds expedition 2 and from what i've seen over 300 PS4 players have signed up for it so there'll be much more than that out there.

I have to say my favourite (and touching) community moments in Elite have actually been the Distant World Expeditions and the funeral for Commander Toru
You missed the Fuelum War, which was unremarkable except that the Fuel Rats asked the rest of the E:D CMDR community for help and the community kicked the BGS so hard in the balls that they went from surly losing their faction war to handily winning it in a span of time that surprised even seasoned BGS experts.

I don't care what anyone says, No Man's Sky, Star Citizen, Dual Universe whatever space game it may be, none of them (be it a few star systems, only one or an entire universe) come close to Elite Dangerous, a 1:1 scale Milkyway galaxy and by this time next year no doubt atmospheric worlds too. The best space sim ever, it might not be huge intense space battles (which it certainly can be) but it shines in its exploration undoubtedly
