"The price of knowledge = your life" makes sense - To acquire knowledge you have to spend chunks of your life (ie time) reading, understanding etc - so maybe it's not as creepy as that story made it sound. You really are exchanging life for knowledge in a way.

The clock thing is common. We look at clocks a lot (for example when waking up). When it's a random time we just register roughly what time it is, but when the numbers line up we notice it and remember it. Confirmation bias. Powerful. Our brains latch on to patterns.

I have no idea what made you even consider dyslexia as an explanation. As for autism, that also has nothing to do with this. All you have to do is a quick google search and you read all sorts of posts about people seeing number sequences like 1111, 1122, 1234, etc.

Has anyone experienced the "sleep demon" the Hat man... I was really sick as a child one time and I woke to a massive imposing shadow leaning over me, when I noticed him he stepped back into the corner of the room near the door and if it was real (I had a fever so explainable) I think I knew why he did that because as I saw him and in the few seconds of my reaction he bloody knew I was about to run and that I would have to run past him and it felt like he enjoyed seeing me terrified, cue night terror screaming and running up the hallway like a banshee, he shot me with a shotgun, the guun was so loud and I honestly thought he was a serial killer or something, I even hallucinated my dad sleeping on the couch (not possible since he didn't live there lol) and I honestly could not believe he didn't wake up at my screaming. Happy ending though my sister snapped me out of it :) As a kid my family laughed at me because I said he looked like the Jack daniels guy on the bottle but more old timey western thing going on lol then cut to years later i see a video about the hat man and peop;e experiencing this all over the world... now i hope it isn't supernatural because it means I cannot do anything if he comes back 😂😂 which he hasn't so I was thinking is it a mass hysteria thing going on or something a bit darker LOL still think of him till this day and hope that it was just a night terror.
