Our FRONT ENTRANCE MAKEOVER is about 87% finished, but there's NO way I can wait until spring to show you our new rustic stone doorway, so it's time for some exterior Christmas decor and a look back at how we got rid of an outdated deck and gave our 1980's eco-house turned Old World farmhouse a MUCH needed front entrance makeover. One $60 beam that I found two years ago in a junk shop parking lot and plenty of rocks harvested from around our farm helped to created this rustic stone doorway inspired by the Cotswolds Cottage home featured on the Instagram feed @gettingstuffdoneinheels. She knows how much I love her entranceway and we are ALMOST there. Sadly, we'll have to wait for Spring to scout out some more old barn wood to finish the job but for now, some exterior Christmas decor will hide most of what we haven't finished. I see your property grows rocks too! :) Your children are just adorable. My youngest grandchild is 12. I miss the days of the little ones. They grow up so fast. My great-grandfather planted a Zinnia garden for us every year so my siblings and cousins could catch butterflies (we released them of course) and pick some for bouquets. Such wonderful memories.

The porch looks amazing! The barn beams and harvested stones makes it look 200 years old. Then the Christmas decorations perfect simple and rustic. Well Done!

@@estaisadore6188 I agree. There is nothing like helping out either parent in projects to make lasting memories and build confidence. As the firstborn 67 years ago, my dad ignored that I was female and showed me how to make lead soldiers and a rubber-band gun, how to replace vacuum tubes in a TV, catch a snake and hunt geodes. Every moment meant the world to me.

Life as its meant to be lived. by the time we get to child # ? they're allowed to run around barefoot and muck in with the best of them, including working with dad around heavy rocks and bricks, and the young girl decorating just like mama.
These children are truly blessed .

It was fun to watch you and Joel putting together one of your projects. I love how Joel is always torn between wondering why it has to be such a complicated vision, and being absolutely determined to make it happen. And you are getting stronger and stronger the longer you do this. Harvesting rocks is not an easy job!

Love the plaid with the greenery and lights! Really gives it a provencial-chic warmth! I'll only make a soft suggestion.. My mother, after wrestling garlands and greenery, came to the conclusion that it's easier to attach lights to greenery before wrapping pillars. Your projects are lovely as usual and a delight!
