i don't know why belu doesn't want to talk about atlanta. they won so many medals!! team bronze, all around silver and two sharing the bronze, vault gold AND bronze, beam bronze, and floor silver. pretty dominant, if you ask me.
Agreed. When you put it like that they did really well. But they had their sights on Team Gold. That's what they really wanted and expected as they were World championships.
@@kirstyevensen7557 and it was the 3rd time they lost team gold at the Olympics after winning worlds the year before. 79 to 80, 87 to 88, and 95 to 96. And this was the first time they had won the previous 2, not just 1, and still lost.
I loved this, as well as the documentary "The Romanian Dream". I was born there, but I never got a chance to become a gymnast. These girls are made of sacrifice and work, but they breathe an air of success. =]
also: Romania has 17% of it's territory covered in woods, one of the best preserved in the world. it ranks 10th in the world in mineral diversity. it's 70% energy self sufficient with the biggest oil reserves in central and eastern Europe; 22% of the energy comes from hydropower due to the huge number of rivers that flow from the Carpathian mountains. it has a huge and diverse culture spanning 3000years and countless ethnicities. forsaken, not anytime soon.
@96horseluvr Team gold is the most appreciated medal for Romanians. Considering that Romania arrived in Atlanta'96 as world champions, the team bronze was a bit of a failure. I agree that the rest of the medals were ok.
also i have to talk about the airwing, they fix the jets, help them land and many other things, sometimes they worked 20 hours a day, and 2 hours -4 hours of sleep. life really hell for most of them. i didnt get stuck there, and i am so lucky bc i almost did. they work about 15-16 hours a day at sea, in port we didnt have any jets. that job my friend did for a few months and he got lucky for 3 years and found ways out of it. unless you have been there no one knows how hard it is.
i worked 12 hours in the navy at sea, when we were in port it was like a normal job. about half of my 4 years in the navy were at sea. about 80% of the people hate it. and they wated us to take classes too, and work on getting qualed in in alot of things, our bosses were like coaches, never really happy, and if they were happy it didnt last long. 12-15 hours of work is not my idea of life. im in college, now and its alot better. no more navy!!
I agree with you, although Misha is right when he/she says NBC made it, complain to them. But I hate that stereotype of Eastern Europe, that everyone there lives in some sort of dilapidated village.
forsaken landscape...?! these lands have been inhabited by people since pre-history (the oldest homo sapiens remains in Europe are from Romania). empires fought against each other for a piece of this country. there's virtually no country in the world with a better geographic distribution: 33% mountains, 33% hills, 33% plains...with 60% of the 2nd largest river(the Danube) in Europe passing through it's territory and a coastline of 275 km to the Black Sea. i hate ignorant people.

Makes Romania seem like a desolate country.
