    Trying to make up my mind, I have a ultra wide CHG90 3840x1080p (which is just shy of 1440p in pixels) to upgrade from a 5700xt. 6950xt is $600 and for $200+ is slightly more future proofing and maybe an extra 10-20 fps in games, while being slightly more power efficient. While that sounds OKAY on paper, in real time usage, if you're getting over 100+ fps across the board in every game on Ultra settings, that extra 10-20 fps is utterly meaningless. Its just a higher number on your fps counter, but with the FPS counter off, would you be able to physically tell the difference between the two cards at 1440p?, the answer is NO.

      I'd tell you that for 2K gaming the 6800 XT is all you need and you'd really have to price check at the time you decide to purchase whether the 6800 XT, or 6900 XT is the best value. The 6950 XT is overkill and is mainly just pushing higher clocks so more power consumption.

      Its not meaning if you aim for high refresh monitors Target. I would agree with turning of the FPS counter tho but fps must be higher than 120fps atleast.

      It's not. 😂. Well... it completely depends what price we're talking about. The original 900 dollar asking price then it absolutely is haha. But at the sub 800 mark that the 7900xt is at now, that gpu is better for the money.

      I do hope the 6950xt drops to like 550 because then nvidia fan boys can suck it lol. That thing would be the best value graphics card on the market

      @@stevenshelp1107 6950xt is $599 without bundling at micro center. Do you think 7900xt is $200 better?

    • @stevenshelp1107
      @stevenshelp1107 Год назад

      @todayisagoodday5027 it's got 20 percent better performance per mainstream benchmark tools, more vram, more power efficient. And now they're going for 760 so yes it's absolutely worth it.
      But I'm also seeing it from the perspective that you're spending 600 bucks on an older gpu, when you can spend a little bit more and get that little bit more of performance but then also have a newer more future proof card.

      @@stevenshelp1107 If I'm paying $760-$800 I might as well get the XTX with the full performance jump. Getting a 6950 would be to wait for 4090 reality price.

    I think ill keep my 6900XT. im able to sell it for what I got it and I want to buy a 7900XTX, but it still seems very much capable for 1440p. Not ready to go 4k yet, so maybe ill wait on that.... and ill get a 4k high refresh monitor to go with it.

      As an owner of both a 6900 xt and 120hz 4k monitor I can tell you with a little bit of under-volting and overclocking the performance you can get is surprising, that's what the 6950 xt is after all. The performance lift of the 7900 xtx is only a +35% in best case scenarios, you're definitely right that the upgrade just isn't worth it. I honestly say don't worry so much about the GPU upgrade right now and just get the monitor and overclock. 4k is amazing, just make sure you get a 40"+ monitor to make the most of the resolution.

    Still trying to decide, lol. 50% tell me 7900XTX. 50% tell me 4080. Reason: if you want a powerful ray tracing 4080, if you want a more promising card, choose the 7900XTX. Tough decision, both cards cost in my country $1400-1450 ($50 more for 4080). Help me decide 😢

    • @kerotomas1
      @kerotomas1 Год назад +2

      I mean it's really a 50-50 toss up. The 7900XTX is the faster overall card and also has 24gb of vram like the 4090, AMD cards also get faster compared to Geforce cards down the road through driver optimizations. (i can confirm this after having both a 5700XT and 6800XT jumping a tier up after about a year) While if you want ray tracing you need the 4080, the 7900XTX can't really compete with it i'm more on par with a 4070Ti in RT. The 4080 also has DLSS 3 frame generation which the XTX doesn't have (yet, as FSR frame gen is coming this year) The 4080 also uses a bit less power though not by much. Nvidia drivers are generally more stable but i do hate that crap outdated NV control panel compared to the modern AMD one. I use cards from both so this is the best what i can tell.

      Yes, it is. I find it so difficult to decide which GPU to choose between RTX 4080 and RX 7900 XTX. In my country, the 7900 XTX is cheaper than 4800 about $200. The base performance of 7900 XTX is greater but 4080 is better at Ray Tracing though. I think I will go for 4080. Why? Because more and more games in the future will have Ray Tracing in their setting and 4080 will ensure the future of my gaming experience.
