  • Continuing our series about SureFire lights, Caleb is again joined by Andrew Wright from SureFire, who gives us the skinny on what makes the X300UA gun light different from the X300UB model. It's all about the mounts. The X300UA's mount has a quick-attach / detach spring-loaded plate. Depress the tabs on both sides of the light, slide it onto the gun's accessory rail, feel the wedge on the mount index into a slot on the rail, and release the buttons to lock the X300UA on the rail. This mount makes it easy to swap the light between different firearms very quickly. But due to variations in rail specs, the X300UA might wobble a little on some rails.
    To help fix that, the X300UA comes with two interchangeable wedges. The Universal wedge fits rails found on Glocks, Smith & Wesson M&Ps, and similar modern pistols. The popular M1913 Picatinny rail slot is a little wider, so for that there's the "P" wedge.
    For folks who want a totally wobble-free installation, SureFire offers the X300UB. Its mount locks down tight via a thumbscrew, so putting it on the gun and removing it takes longer than the A model. But the B mount eliminates unwanted "play." Like the X300UA, it comes with both Universal and Picatinny wedges, so the X300UB will fit almost any handgun with an accessory rail.

    I've looked at and thought deeply about both, and I've made my choice. Caleb's hair.

    Interesting how even the marketing team fails to mention the inclusion of a wedge adapter for the A model to help remove play on certain model frames.

    Buy the A if you have a pic rail because you also get a stiffer attachment that screws on tight too - if you have a pic rail. What you get is the best of all worlds options.

      the stupid attachments is nothing beyond ridiculous. Olight gets it much better with QD at 1/6 the price.

    I have a streamlight tlr 1 with the thumb screw for tightening onto my Glock G19X. When I was considering the Surefire X300 Turbo, I can’t believe how much time I spent (wasted?) on RUclips trying to determine if the thumb screw would be too inconvenient. Honestly, I don’t understand the time devoted to how less convenient the thumb screw is to the snap-on version. For the extra security of the mounting to the pistol, the 1.5 twists to secure the light seems, to me, inconsequential.
    Blessings

    Something huge missed on this video. This video is only 9-months old but features the tail cap that SureFire no longer uses or sells for the X300U. The "new" tailcap is the same except it lacks the pins that allow you to remove a chunk of (unnecessary?) plastic, and therefore does not fit on a variety of guns. I emailed SureFire and they told me tough break.

    Having a pistol suppressed hiding the product is always a bad idea. Clear the work space so we can see them.

    Can an A become a B by swapping out the connectors? I'm sure there's a decent joke for that, but seriously, I hate that wiggle but won't spend $300 for another.

    • @Argentum88
      @Argentum88 Год назад +5

      No. Each connecting arm is integral to the body of their respective lights. Try swapping the Universal to 1913 rail to reduce wobble.

    Good luck finding the specific holster. A and B model holsters are not interchangeable.
    It really limits your options, so do your research well.
