Family friend growing up worked for highway safety lab where they tested early electric cars (like the prius). After a test crash they had a bad habit of bursting into flames that can't be extinguished by water in the hours or days after impact.
Here in Sweden we've had plenty of trouble with BYD's busses. I don't even know why some cities decided to buy them when we have locally manufactured Volvos and Scanias. To save a buck in the short term, I suppose.

Last company I worked for had a whole fleet of BYD electric buses. They leaked whenever it rained, would randomly start smoking, and were they always breaking down. Their proprietary chargers were always breaking down as well and it took MONTHS to get any kind of service or replacement parts.
