I'm also a singer and am very aware of the difficulty behind this song. However, there are tremendously harder songs in Iron Maiden's repertoir which they still play live.
There is no song better to start a concert off with than this one. It's perfect. Taped intro if desired for that "crowd goes batshit" start when the band comes in full force, supremely singable, constant aggression... Just the perfect way to ignite the crowd from the first six minutes. They should still start their shows with it today. Instead it's been buried for 30 years now.
AWESOME!!!! This camera man had no idea what was going on. Did he think Steve Harris was singing? Was he thinking Steve was playing Dave's solo? Was he thinking Dave was playing Adrian's solo?
Harris liked to be in the middle. Bruce often found it hard because he thought the lead singer should be in the middle but Harris was comfortable there too.
This is definitely THE underrated Maiden song. They never play it live but I would be so perfect if they did. Luckily my dad got to see it live in 1986 or 87 at Hammersmith
AN OUTSTANDING MASTERPIECE fom their incredible Somewhere in Time album....The album is unforgettable, incredible, gorgeous songs all the way through....and it´s a great shame they never recorded the show and released it as a DVD...THIS is a LEGACY worth holding on too....
Gene S., if You Read this comment, you Helped me get to the first Row!!!! Thanks Brother. You were doing the Still Photography in The Pit in front of the stage. This was the best concert of my Life!!!!! I have seen Hundreds of Shows, but this Show( Iron Maiden) Front Row at The Greatest Arena in The World 🌎 ( Madison Square Garden) Was So Darn Awesome!!! Thank you Gene S. 🤘🤘😎 God Bless/
Too godlike to be true. I just can't stop loving this song and the kickass guitar sound. I'd be ready to die if I saw them performing this live just once in my life.
That's some epic bass playing. Not a particularly complex bassline, but SO fast, for SO long. Steve has incredible dexterity and endurance. Just incredible.
It's after watching videos like this, I wish I was a teenager during the 80's instead of late 90's. The golden age of the best metal bands, and no financial crisis!
Im proud to say I have the whole show from Paris '86. This is still the best performance Ive seen from this tour and still beats a lot of official Maiden stuff out there.
PUT IT ON RUclips!!!! There is not a single recording of a full show that exists that I know of from this tour. You’d be doing the world a MASSIVE favor. If you send me the recording I could upload it for you if it’s too much work for you to do it.
Been listening to these guys since 86 when this came out, and I think you're on to something. It could be Adrian's best solo. He does it all in that one: whammy dives, pick scrapes, tapping, harmonics, etc.
Before I spoke English I learned iron maiden songs this was one of those tracks I would hear back to back writing the lyrics down..who knew music was my English teacher
AWWWW!!! ...Make you an offer you can't refuse,You've only got your soul to lose...Eternally...Just let yourself goooo!Caught Somewhere In 2 MINDS ..!! Up the fuckings .. \\IRΩΩΩΩΝS// Hell Yeah !! \\mm//
Greatest opening in rock history! Unbelieveable! I was back inhigh school when I heard the first notes from a neighbours house. Although not particularly friendly with them, I made it a point to find out the name of the song. Their son and I are best mates now thanks to this song :)
This was the tour I first saw them. It was 1987 in Austin TX. They have not been back since Seventh Son of a Seventh son Tour in 89. I know Austin TX misses them!
Anyone else thinks this is like the best metal album ever? duno.. the sci fi themes has neven been matched by anyone else and the guitars on this album are amazing..
@SoulSlayer120 One thing is that someone may not like the video quality, but hey guys, this is history as it is. This is a great video that corporate management of Maiden have not make available. If it were not for the guy who post it, it will just be in a wish list.
Michael Turley - it's a real ball buster to sing, as it even was 30 years ago, Bruce could barely hit parts of it. This is what sometimes happens when the control freak bass player writes the vocal melody line.
I was 14 years old when this came out (I'm 37 now) and I'll never forget it. It sounded so futuristic, and it still does (to my ears anyways). Great song, great band(my fav)...UP THE IRONS!
Cada vez que mi vecina pone reggueton y mi hija de 3 años comienza a escuchar, corro hacia los parlantes le pongo el maximo volumen y le comienzo a enseñar sobre buena musica, hallowed be thy name, wasted years, fear of the dark, caught somewere in time, creo firmemente que según la música que le enseñes a tus hijos sera de gran influencia en el desarrollo de su carácter. Up the iron Uruguay.
This is such a great song. Can anybody tell me any band that can make a long song and make it not boring? So far I haven't found one. Iron Maiden, You all are the best.
Hah, this is one of my favorite songs by the band and I never actually realized it's over 7 minutes long. I always thought it was around 5 minutes. Great stuff.
Amazing song. One of my all time fav Maiden songs..... the solos by Dave and Adrian are just fucking great.... Definitly my favorite Iron Maiden era....When i heard this album on LSD, that did it for me,fell in love with it...So much great songwriting and musicianship...IRON MAIDEN FOREVER
i remember this concert in feb'87 at the tacoma dome, and getting crushed up front when bruce hit the stage with that cool jacket, greatest frontman ever.
bruces voice was really strained on this tour, the album had some very demanding vocals but i think he was just having an off season after he left the studio for the album (because in studio he was INCREDIBLE). i hope the play the songs again sometime too (deja vu, loneliness, alexander, this) because bruces voice now is better than it was on this tour. Strange that on the following tour to this one his voice is incredible again, same for the tour beforehand
Ardius01. It is a track for the intro just like Aces High in LAD..the reason why they are not on stage is because they are not playing when they start to play they come on stage..it's a track and they enter the stage at the exciting part..the same was done for Moonchild.
I love how Steve always sings when he plays. He's so into it.
he whistles a lot too from what i understand
deadenddude well when you write most of the lyrics you repeat then too
No other bassist like it he's an absolute machine
@@d36class there were three what I was going to say Steve Harris writes most of the music and lyrics is an awesome brilliant man and a bass guitar God
I’ve also heard he likes to tap his toe. Just a rumour.
Somewhere In Time one of my favorite albums ever!
me too!
They were on the plenitude of personal performances. Bruce was incredibly in his best phase.
Same
The best of the beast
Nicko is a fucking machine on the drumms
NO SHIT!!!
This is probably one of Maidens most underrated songs.
Too bad that they don't play this song live anymore
they never did since 86'
must be really hard to play this live
I don't think that's the reason. They've played technically harder songs live.
anibaldk This song is really hard to play. It's also very hard to sing. I know because I'm also a singer. :)
I'm also a singer and am very aware of the difficulty behind this song. However, there are tremendously harder songs in Iron Maiden's repertoir which they still play live.
There is no song better to start a concert off with than this one. It's perfect. Just the perfect way to ignite the crowd from the first six minutes. They should still start their shows with it today. Instead it's been buried for 30 years now.
I prefer Aces High as an intro to be honest.
Seems to me the first song on every album is a great one to start a concert. This one, Aces High, Where Eagles Dare, Moonchild.. So on
I think they’re gonna open with it on the Future Past Tour next year.
@@Shadoestar OHHHH YEAHHHHH
Agreed 💯🤘
What a privilige for that audience, this amazing song was never played again live
Well said
This song will be back next year
Oh boy do I have good news for you
Was This The Madison Square Garden Concert?
It was a damn good show, saw this show in 87 at the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, CA!
2:23 Anyone noticed Bruce saying ''Yeah, motherfuckers'' XD XD
i did haha
Nope... 🤷🏻♂️
Looks like the cameraman tought that Steve was playing Dave's solo, and that Dave was playing Adrian's solo
steve harris fan XD
🤣
This was one of the cameras feeding the screen above the stage so one of the others would have been filming the others
Or that Steve was singing in the beginning
i'm thinking the same 😂😂😂
AWESOME!!!!
This camera man had no idea what was going on. Did he think Steve Harris was singing? Was he thinking Steve was playing Dave's solo? Was he thinking Dave was playing Adrian's solo?
Well Harry is the leader, why not have the camera on him the whole time? XD
Camera man was a friend's of Harry's (and Harry's alone, or so it seems).
Hahah
Harry deserves to have most of the screentime.
Harris liked to be in the middle. Bruce often found it hard because he thought the lead singer should be in the middle but Harris was comfortable there too.
Hear it again in 2023 is a great experience and a great way to bring it back to life since 1987
Maior banda de heavy metal de todos os tempos isso é indiscutivel
Concordo
Its 1:40 a.m. right now and I have an exam at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow. Time is always on my side
Looks like 22 did care and since you took the time and effort to respond to 7 month old comment that makes 23!
Sherlock Is My Name enormous effort i know...lol twerp
epic
keep rockin!
00:39 to 07:30. Wave physics.
This is definitely THE underrated Maiden song. They never play it live but I would be so perfect if they did. Luckily my dad got to see it live in 1986 or 87 at Hammersmith
New tour announced this week might see this come back
Nov 3rd 86
I saw them at the same gig as your dad. Hammersmith tickets back then were only £5 to £6.
This comment aged like a fine wine. Yeah!
I Was at The 1986 Show at Madison Square Garden. Do you know if this is the Garden?
Maybe the dream become reality in 2023? #TheFuturePastTour
Damn this is brilliant. I wish I could have gone to a concert back in the 80s.
🤘🏻Up The Irons 🤘🏻
My favorite Iron Maiden song!! Love it!, saw them in 2012, they rocked the show but didn't play this song..
Uno de mis temas favoritos de siempre de los Maiden. Insuperable.

Both guitar solos are masterpieces...
Too godlike to be true. I just can't stop loving this song and the kickass guitar sound. I'd be ready to die if I saw them performing this live just once in my life.
Dude I think it's time to die 😅😅
Watching this on the day Maiden have announced The Future Past Tour, hoping this will be the opening track os the setlist!
I really believe in it
Well well well
Best guitar solo of all times!
Siiiiiiii que tema tan poderosoooo solo energía y metal como solo Maiden lo pude hacer!!!
That's some epic bass playing.
Not a particularly complex bassline, but SO fast, for SO long. Steve has incredible dexterity and endurance. Just incredible.

this was my second time seeing maiden, in 88 in houston texas, my first show was powerslave 85
fuck yeah '87 in Austin for me
Im proud to say I have the whole show from Paris '86.
I just love how Harris' fingers are moving so fast the camera can't catch them properly - brilliant! :D
ADRIAN solo - Insane !! Oy my god! \m\____
top of the top by maiden
Been listening to these guys since 86 when this came out, and I think you're on to something. It could be Adrian's best solo. He does it all in that one: whammy dives, pick scrapes, tapping, harmonics, etc.
Agree... it’s absolutely amaizing🤟🤟
Before I spoke English I learned iron maiden songs this was one of those tracks I would hear back to back writing the lyrics down..who knew music was my English teacher
uma das melhores musicas deles... mt boa
This was the first Maiden song I ever heard about 30 years ago which introduced me to them. It's still my favorite Maiden song.
This song has one of the best solo on Iron Maiden history. It should be a must on their set list.
Yeah, Adrian's especially.
Yeah, i listen to this because of its greatest solo
your wish has been granted
And Powerslave my son.
Both Smith and Murray absolutely SHRED in this song. Epic.
80's as hell. God bless Harris and Maiden
The Future Past tour
Steve's mom recorded the video on this one.
Way better quality than my copy. Mine must be 1000th generation.
Thanks! UP THE IRONS!!!!
AWWWW!!! ...Make you an offer you can't refuse,You've only got your soul to lose...Eternally...Just let yourself goooo!Caught Somewhere In 2 MINDS ..!!

Two minds? Like in Castaneda's books?
Best intro ever
Eh aquí una de las mejores canciones de todos los tiempos de iron maiden
Sunday Febuary 22, 1987 Fresno, Ca USA. Somewhere On Tour Concert. I will never forget this concert. Up the Iron!!!
The Future past tour, espero que ressuscitem essa preciosidade
... now is indeed caught somewhere in time and by it's quality: timeless :).
Greatest opening in rock history! Unbelieveable! I was back inhigh school when I heard the first notes from a neighbours house. Although not particularly friendly with them, I made it a point to find out the name of the song. Their son and I are best mates now thanks to this song :)
I saw Iron Maiden 86 year in the Slovenia-Ljubljana city It was my first Heavy concert I was 19 year,Today I have sweet memories
Harris bass lines are superb...
Damn. This song would be awesome on Legacy of The Beast Tour. Strange in a Strange Land as well.
A new Maiden tour is upon us and I'm going to watch every single concert in Canada. UP THE FUCKING IRONS!
this was my first maiden album, well cassette. I was in 5th or 6th grade.
@@dr.8269 Me too!
Nicko is so perfect and heavy on this, they really need to play this live from time to time.
I wish they would play this live again.
This was the tour I first saw them. It was 1987 in Austin TX. They have not been back since Seventh Son of a Seventh son Tour in 89. I know Austin TX misses them!
e lá se vão 33 anos pqp, o tempo voa, música boa D+, Up the Irons
Anyone else thinks this is like the best metal album ever? duno.. the sci fi themes has neven been matched by anyone else and the guitars on this album are amazing..
Timbre da guitarra do Adrian tava insano 🤘🏼

3 guitars would be perfect for this song. They should resurrect it live and give poor old Janick something to do.
Michael Turley - it's a real ball buster to sing, as it even was 30 years ago, Bruce could barely hit parts of it. This is what sometimes happens when the control freak bass player writes the vocal melody line.
and gives a reason to pull out the time machine jacket.
jonas brave and 6 minuts of gallops is hard for harris today.
he would fuck this up
"Control freak" Well it's his band... His and Dave's band.
It’s a classic that will never die.
4:01 Great Adrian Smith solo!
great song, great album and best metal band ever.
UP THE IRONS!!
Uno de la mejores sólos de todos los tiempos. Tanto de Dave como de Adrián. Up the Irons. Saludos desde Argentina.
i wished i lived in such times where great bands like this one where in their golden days making many many lives so i could see them,.......
this recording is absolutely perfect. the way they play this song is just incredible
I was 14 years old when this came out (I'm 37 now) and I'll never forget it. It sounded so futuristic, and it still does (to my ears anyways). Great song, great band(my fav)...UP THE IRONS!
I think they were going for futuristic vibe. the album artwork looks like a dystopian future similar to blade runner
what do you think now in 2023????
Bruce is Caught Somewhere in Tune...
hell yeah the fastest song by iron maiden .... i still love it !!!!
I never get tired of Maiden and that is since 1982.
this song is nasty. This was my first concert, I was 11!
I am glad he filmed mainly steve. It gives you a chance to look at how crazy his right hand is and he's just super cute tbh.
yes absolutely pleasinggg
Adoro essa música, 😊
Dickinsons vocal range is outrageous
And Dave Murray’s and Adrian smiths
Guitar solos are amazing
Excellent performance

Totally agree w/ you the best album..
Audio quality is good for its age, most certainly live. Bruce Dickinson is loud and clear, the sun never sets on Maiden fans.
best maiden song for me
4:02 great Adrian Smith solo
somewhere in time and somewhere on tour was iron maidens best point in there career imo
what do you think now in 2023????

the solos by Dave and Adrian are just fucking great....
Definitly my favorite Iron Maiden era....When i heard this album on LSD, that did it for me,fell in love with it...So much great songwriting and musicianship...IRON MAIDEN FOREVER
In my top 3 maiden songs of ALL TIME.
It's a really pity they did not this song in the last tour...this one must sound really brilliant with Three guitars...
up the irons! bruce you're best vocalist of metal
si es mi cancion favorita... que pena que no la tokaron en su gira 2009, igual el concierto en Lima fue la primera vez y fue inolvidable jaja
i remember this concert in feb'87 at the tacoma dome, and getting crushed up front when bruce hit the stage with that cool jacket, greatest frontman ever.
Time... is always on my sidddddeeeeeee
@Radean1
didnt have to be a 80s teen, i discovered these guys in 88, i was 12. definately one of my favorite bands.
Cursed camera man, focused Dave while Adrian was soloing.
Nicko with that single kick gallop.....fucking amazing.

i agree. favorite maiden album, above powerslave.

Nunca había escuchado este tema en vivo, Excelente...
Steve Harris monstruoso en el bajo.
quando deram este concerto eu tinha 10 anos agora tenho 33 de facto sao fantasticos e melhor sei que amao o meu pais iron 4ever
Agora 43 kkkk
I want that jacket Bruce is wearing. He looks like an extra in a sci-fi movie that probably stars Emilio Estevez
The Last Witness The Album Concept was from Blade Runner.
I wish they play this song again!
