"A right-wing Canadian family was so disgusted by their country’s LGBTQ+ acceptance they decided to sell everything they owned and emigrate to Russia to live under Vladimir Putin’s brutal anti-LGBTQ+ authoritarian regime.
Soon after they arrived, their bank accounts were frozen, leaving them “frustrated” with only a small amount of cash to provide for their eight children.
Last spring, RUclipsrs/dairy farmers Arend and Anneesa Feenstra sold their farm and left Canada in search of both “a better spiritual life” for their children and “better farming opportunities.” In a video recorded in May 2023, Arend said he was “disgusted” by “the homosexual flags everywhere” in his hometown. “This is one of the main reasons why we want to leave this country,” he said. “It is openly celebrated and worshipped almost.”"

It does make sense, in one way. The GDP/capita in Russia is only about $16,000, so coming from Canada, things are quite cheap. Of course, that only works as long as you can bring the money with you, and it's not frozen by the government for lack of documentation. And as long as you're not concerned about all the authoritarianism and tyranny.

Arend and Anessa have their youtube channel. There are many vidoes on their channel. Watch other video. They are very happy in Russia. They say it is a great country. Russian people are very nice and kind. Everybody wants to help them. They have already recieved a lot of support from many Russians. They showed many Russians stores and Markets. They say that the diversity and quality of goods that are sold in Russia is better and bigger than in Canada. The food is very good, natural, fresh and not expensive. JUST WATCH THEIR VIDEO.

I like to think he got what he deserved, because in his haste to escape the Pride flags, he didn't do his research and showed up with a lot of cash which he could not explain how he got it! LOL. I am hopeful that one day Russia will change it's laws to have equal rights for the LGBTQ+ community, but it has to come from within first. I do what I can by saying things when I'm over there, but as an outsider I can only do so much. But my older brother was gay, disowned by my christian parents and unfortunately was murdered in a shooting inside a pistol range by a medical student who rented a 9mm and a handful of clips. No one else was inside so when he got bored, he put 12 hollow points between his collar and his belt after my brother, hearing the monitor screaming in the p.a. system, backed out of his cubicle turned and the gunmen had the pistol point blank, 2 rounds straight through his heart. Him and his partner never got to see the day gay marriage was legal in America. Odd, tomorrow is the anniversary of his death. So I marched in the past and tried to do what I can in memory of him. But gay marriage is illegal in many countries such as Japan (except some unions in a couple districts, but not marriage), Ukraine, Poland, South Korea, and more. Julie Dorf, senior advisor to the Council for Global Equality, a Washington DC based group promoting LGBTQ+ rights in U.S. foreign policy stated "There's no sensible diplomat who would think that pushing same-sex marriage on a country that's not ready for it is a good idea." It as I stated before, it must come from within, external pressure will be seen as interference in their government affairs and it will harden them against the LGBTQ+ community even more. Other people can think what they want of me, but I have been to change the thinking of some in Russia towards a positive or some to at least a neutral stance on LGBTQ+ rights. As the church as become more prevalent in government affairs and many Russians have become closer to the Orthodox Church, LGBTQ+ rights are tougher to talk about then say 12 years ago, when most Russians looked at the Church as more a tradition than something to actually believe in. My job is harder now, but that's okay. I have made inroads and though there won't be a vote anytime soon, I hope it will stick in the back of their minds. It took the U.S. a long time and if trump gets into the WH again, I worry all our gains will be reversed.

Ukraine and Russia have been at a low level conflict since 2014 when the US helped overthrow an elected president in a coup.
Given the multiple US invasions of other countries over the last century, you probably should not want to live in the US in this case .
