Just bought my GPH7B and can’t wait to use it. I lost my GoPro4 in heavy surf during a race in 2012 and I’ve finally pulled the trigger on a new one. Your tips are great and I want to thank you for speeding up my learning curve...👍 Thanks
Just got the Hero 7 Black in 2021. I know absolutely nothing about it. I am definitely an old dog learning new tricks. You have the best videos for someone like me. Thank you. Subscribed
Thank you soooo much! I am new to GoPro cameras and the Hero 7 Black is my first. I picked it up about 2 months ago. I love it and I'm always looking for new ways to use it and to conserve battery life.
I'm going to use my first GoPro ever for long nature walks in bad weather, like snow, rain, stormy days and also when walking a very energetic dog which does not shy away from any weather conditions - everything goes! 🐾🐶🐾 I'm going to shoot both daytime as well as when it's dark. So I came across GoPro7 Hero black and I think this one is perfect. Just need som time to find the best settings for my purposes. I think your GoPro7 video is very helpful to get familiar with it.
Thanks for the video. A couple of comments. I have been flying two GoPro 7 Black's since the introduction. My use case typically involves long duration recording, 4k@60FPS with the cameras powered externally with an audio adapter. Cameras sit on the front of the wing in 100 mph breeze so no problem with overheating. I have had stability problems in the Record mode on external power supplies (battery or 5 volt power supplies). Typically cameras would crash in the first 20 seconds after hitting record mode. This happened with a wide variety of USB-C cables, external battery (Anker) and dedicated 12 volt to 5 volt power supplies. Once I reduced power demands of the camera by turning off wireless connections and GPS camera operation in the record mode has been much more stable with a variety of external power sources. In the last few weeks I have been flying the cameras with the GoPro Battery Power Pack and used only GoPro USB-C cables. So far cameras have been completely stable flying with only GoPro Accessories.
Thank you so much! Every time I got underwater my go pro's orientation kept changing. No fun to shoot upside down fish! I looked everywhere and couldn't find how to fix it until I came across your video today. THANK YOU! You also helped walk me through getting it set up when I bought it. I really appreciate your help!!! I'll be watching more of your videos!
although i can't open the lens cause it's quite hard and hurts my fingers too much so decided to quit, but his tips does help me a lot a make me recognized that there is mode 16:9 to change your quality image into 720 and 1080, and also 4K with 60 fps. Nice job :))) and really appreciate what you did to the Gopro 7 users. Have a nice day everybody :))
Thank you for this video. I just purchased my go pro hero 7 black today and I am new to the go pro world. As new as you can get. I found this video to be very helpful. I will be using my new camera for my you tube channel. Thank you.
Was looking for a camera start making videos, seeing a bunch of different camera reviews, I sat down, watched this and decided to go for the hero 7, cheap and plenty of options for my level of "vlogging" thank you sir
Thanks for sharing this video. I just got my first GoPro not too long ago, and many of these tricks would have been good to know before I started using it! great job
@@AirPhotography I'm guessing this means it changes the shutter speed to compensate? So if there's a fast motion it'll be blurred? Wondering if locking the ISO to a higher value e.g. 800 would allow it to perform better at lower light levels and give less blur? I don't have one (yet) so it's not something I can test.
This is fantastic. I recently was given direction to create content for the school board's virtual school during the pandemic. Instructional videos like this definitely help complete beginners like me. Wish me luck making immersion videos in Ojibwe. Thanks!
I really like your videos on GoPro hero7, they are well presented. But what I find helpful is to play them at .75 speed. It doesn't adversely affect the voice quality but it slows it down so I can absorb the info better. That and repetition. Thanks for doing your videos.
Please do a video on accessories of Hero7 black.. When to use which accessories. How to use it underwater.. what kind of protection required for the front and back screens for optimum safety and usage of the go pro..
Great info that is well presented. It has made my switch from a battered old set of Contour cameras to Gopro a lot easier. Thanks and keep them coming.
Excellent video! Superb style indeed! Very much to the point. You speak fast, do not repeat, and say the important things. Felt very comfortable watching and absorbing the info. Thank you! Subscribed and Liked!!
Hey! I really enjoyed this, thank you! The tips for saving battery was ace. Do you know if there is auto record on the Go Pro Her0 7 Black? as in, press the record button when it is off and it starts recording? I cannot fund that function. I have it with my Hero 4 and 6 and really enjoy the feature for footage that needs capturing fast.
I belive you're thinking of the red Quick Capture / Shutter button on the top of the camera. At 7:34 Shawn actually disables QC to conserve battery life but obviously this is optional. I believe in Shawn's beginner video he demonstrates if the GoPro is off and you press the Quick Capture / Shutter button the camera will turn on and start recording using the previous sessions settings. I've read the better way to record would be to power the camera on with the side Mode / Power Button then begin recording. In a pinch though, just press the Quick Capture / Shutter button on the top and begin recording. -Rob
I found that my GoPro hero 7 black freezes up while I'm out surfing, so pulling the battery out isn't an option, so my tip is "if you hold the mode button down for 10 seconds it'll restart your camera"
This is a great tip! I've found my GoPro will also sometimes just freeze up. I've always had to stop whatever I was doing, take it out of the case, then pulled the battery out -- such a waste of time! I will definitely hold the node button down next time!
Ok stupid question...I’m going to put my Gp7 on a dog to record a wedding . I’ve got the harness etc but have no idea what settings to use. Do I just hit record and hope for the best ? I’m just trying it out ...defo not professional but would like to give it to happy couple.
I just got my new 7 black today and found your videos extremely helpful thank you for the information you have shared have subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching your future videos. Joe from Ireland.
I’ve got one coming tomorrow. I’ve used a 5 a little, bit this vid is REALLY helpful to get me rolling on the new one. Excellent! Can we adjust the WB manually? For shooting indoors. I shoot in schools and industrial situations. Light can be funky...
Just watched this tonight, oct 2022.i reset my gopro the other day and made a bunch of videos now it wont play on my windows 10 computer. I can pkay them back on the camera so i know there there. Any hints on how to fix this?
I have just bought the white 7 $199 and accidentally recorded in portrait mode on a chesty mount. What I think I did was tip the Camera as I pressed record to see if the light was blinking and apparently the Camera will lock the video orientation as it starts to record . the reason I looked is that I couldn't hear the beeps while wearing my downhill Helmet. Thanks for the tips as I will be buying a 7 black as soon as the price goes down a bit more
Thanks for this and all the other ones. Very helpful and is much appreciated. I knew the charging door had to come off but I was so afraid of breaking it, but got it now!
Hi thanks again for the very instructive video. While scrubbing the video, the camera froze. Impossible to shut it off and it didn’t power off after 5 min. Only by connecting with the iPhone I was able to take control of the camera!!! Any tips? Thanks .
6:34 is there any way to fix this I record with the orientation upside down and the video ends up upside down The orientation is “auto/off” and I’ve tried switching the orientation to “down” and the vid still comes out upside down
Iso minimum 100 and max of 800 anything more start get noise 1600 is where you start getting noise in some totally dark settings. Record at 24 frames lowest frames allow for more light to get in per second. Sometimes using flat color can help in low light but you have to add some back in post thats about all you can really do maybe playing around with shutter control could help to but i really just leave that on auto remember camera sensor is only f2.8 most cellphones are f1.7-f2.0 these days lower f is better in low light. But gopro does good in low light for whats its got as long as there's some light to work with
What’s a better battery saver, turning brightness all the way down and control the settings with a wireless connection like your phone, or keeping brightness up and turning off wireless?

What’s a better battery saver, turning brightness all the way down and control the settings with a wireless connection like your phone, or keeping brightness up and turning off wireless?

Quick question. Avid diver. IF I remove the lens cover to fit inside the superset is the actual 7 unit still waterproof? As in if the superset leaks will there still be the secondary waterproof as the unit itself OR is that seal in the lens cover? I cant seem to get a real answer on this and I dive 100ft regularly and have had cases leak. Its nice to know if it leaks it wont ruin the gopro. Thanks!
From what I have read the camera is still waterproof even with the protective cover removed
