- Amtrak only footage from my recent visit to Ashland, VA. This includes Northeast Regional trains, as well as the Other Medium distance and long haul trains that pass thru here. In a separate video I will include the freight footage.
I apologize if some of the footage seems sideways, this was my first time using a tripod and frankly since its a brick and concrete platform its not the best place for level shots. Авто/Мото
Very nice!
Awesome catch of those Amtrak heritage units and great catch of that Amtrak dash 8
Great catches and video from my favorite spot! Nice catches during Amtrak rush hour and other times during the day, and I see you got 184 leading P091 and some other cool stuff! Also I see the auto train and plenty of regionals, good stuff.
VCUrailfan15 productions Thanks, this was my first time here. Really enjoyed it
Nice catch of 184
I would think that if AmTrak can improve service (more frequent cross country trains, more destinations and on time service), they can put a serious dent in air travel. Yes, there's more money in freight service, but if time isn't of the essence, I would rather travel by rail. But maybe I'm dreaming.
You lucky son of a gun! I missed it, and #184 transferred on PO52 for some reason so I couldn't get it :( Regardless, great catches!
Yeah bud it had to be set out for P052 due to engine problems
Yeah I figured that's what happened. And 189 was leading PO97 yesterday, and I on PO98 today, but I can't get that either
Dont worry, Youll get them eventually :)
:D
This is a great video, but there is something I am wondering about. There are two active railroad crossings at either end of the station area, plus they are street running. While the bell is ringing, why does the engineer not blow a whistle upon approaching this area? I just wondered.
Wythe Trumpet Downtown Ashland is a quiet zone area. So engineers do not sound the horn unless there was some obstruction or danger on/near the tracks. Only one day a Year Ashland has its National train day, which all trains that come through sound their horn and there are events and festivities near the tracks (which are roped off) so people don’t get too close.
where is the auto train station located?
The auto train doesn’t stop here, it goes all the way to lorton from Sanford Florida
is there no plataform on train station?
Douglas Van Dreshër Yes there is, it is made of brick so it may be hard to see
I just thought it was too low . It should be higher
Not all stations have platforms or if they do they can be low but i agreeashlands plaform should be higher
