Model is 5' 10" / 177cm and 9 stone / 57kg wearing a size Small.
Size Small is a little bit big on me. I think XS would fit me better. Try to apply that to your body shape and size.

I think the jacket fits you perfectly! I’m shorter about 5’6 and small fits me fine aper from the sleeves which I had to get tailored. XS would be perfect for me
It’s all personal preference. Some people like a looser fit but I prefer my clothes to be fitted.
Next time I’m near a Carhartt WIP store I’ll definitely try on a XS if they have one.

That looks like the old style without the extra length in the back.
As with all fashion, it goes in cycles. Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s a slightly altered old design.
Does the inside pattern fade with wear? I just bought a used black one and the pattern is faint
Yes. All material fades over time.
Do you think this blanket lining is warmer than the diamond insulated lining they also have?
The quilted diamond lining is warmer in my opinion. The lining on this jacket is actually quite thin and coarse.

I’m 5’7 80kgs , I typically wear a large jacket but unsure on the fit for these jackets. Should I play it safe with my usual size or should i size down?
Depends how you want it to fit. Personally I’d risk sizing down to a M because I like clothes to be more fitted.
If you have the money, order M and L then return the one you don’t want. Carhartt WIP offer free returns.
i am 5’10 , 75 kg , wear medium , never able to wear small , too tight on the chest .
I am 205 6'1 kinda built and I tried on the non wip detroit jacket in a size large but it fit kinda small. not sure what size i should get in the WIP detroit jacket. Large or XL?
I’m not even close to your size so I wouldn’t like to make a suggestion. I can only say buy both and return the one that doesn’t fit, if you can afford to do that.

is this jacket material waterproof?

The material is very rough. It’s so rough that it’s not very comfortable when it’s first worn.
You’d have to look at the product page on the Carhartt website but it doesn’t look or feel waterproof. Maybe water resistant.
Its not waterproof will most likely have a water repellant coating making ok in a small drizzle but the canvas can be waxed to make it waterproof , like a barbour or belstaff coat
What size would you recommend for someone that is 5'5 130 pounds?
Small for a loose fit and extra small for a more fitted look.

No. You will need a fleece lined Detroit jacket for this. This is more like a spring/autumn jacket even though it says “winter”. Definitely not warm enough for -5.
This should work in cold winters IF you have a think jumper/sweater on under it but this jacket itself won’t protect against cold very well.

I’ve had my jacket for 2 years and the zippers are still a pain! Not acceptable for a jacket at that price.

Hello 🙂 Sorry but I wouldn’t want to make a bad suggestion. You’re quite a bit different from my height/weight.
I’d recommend ordering 2 sizes and using free returns on the other one if you can afford to do that.

I’d say medium. Depends how fitted you like it and how well built you are. Large will be very loose fitting on you.

Weird , for detroit winter, some have the striped blanket lining and others the quilted one
Maybe one is winter for really cold countries like Canada and one is for not as cold winters like Spain.
Definitely something to consider when buying one as they are not cheap.
