@@NIGHTSTALKER0069 no it definetly doesnt. the cars in our dep that run 24/7 are up to about 200000 to 250000 miles and they are rather new (bought between 2011 and 2013)
I like to think about it in miles per hour instead of miles per year. This ambulance has been moving at an average speed of 0.5 mph over 30 years. 400k miles in 6 years is an average speed of 7.6 mph, which _could_ be realistic if working 24/7 all year...

I've seen these ambulances online before, but I didn't know whose they were or what the story on the lighting was. Thank you for keeping the halogen lighting intact. I love the old mixed with the new, just like my POV. Please do videos on their other rigs too and spend more time on the lights & what it looks like at night!
I’m only a couple minutes into the video but if they don’t say it, they have all the lights Bc they were fed up with the towns people not stopping for them so they just loaded all the trucks up with lights
wow thats nice
I don't. . . which part was. . .
Did we watch the same video? LOL
He must have two, maybe three alternators and likely four batteries.
Most likely a single heavy duty alternator and possibly dual batterys. Most of those trucks only had single battery but could be specd how every you wanted. My C7000 TopKick which is a bigger version of this truck has a single alternator but dual batteries. this truck has been updated a bit when it comes to lighting. Lots of LED lights on this truck. As built it would of all been your regular bulbs plus strobes.
This ambulance cannot carry a patient, as the rear is full of batteries and spare bulbs.
😂😂😂
that truck/Ambulance is a prime example of:

refurb/revitalize is something that comes with time and use, but this old beauty got it where it counts
in Adm. Leonard McCoy's words: Treat her like a lady and she'll always get you home
This really shows that if you take care of your things and maintain them properly they will run for a really long time in good condition
It also has very low miles.
@@bkane573 it has over 100,000 that’s not really low I mean I guess for a 1989 model
@Mr. Tenor for a diesel it’s super low especially for the age. It’s almost unheard of.
For an ambulance? One service I run at the truck has 95 thousand, it is 3 years old. Rotates between the backup, so is only in service 6 months a year.
The other service our two new trucks both have 75k. Bought Same time, and are 2 years old. Next truck has about 120k, and the spare is well over 300k. Hell, even the paramedic squad has about 98k. Ambulances are not fire engines, they go on calls, and often put 50 to 150 miles or more on the odometer for most of them.
Too much lights... hate to say it but this is overkill
Cool old rig. The light show is way overdone taking away from it.
Very interesting tour and very impressive rig!
I hope they get a Whelen Carbide or Core on their next new ambo (whenever that will be)! You need proper synchronization with so many lights. Personally I'd even love to assist them with that - they seem to have had some very interesting ideas here!

Hey! its THAT Ambulance! I saw this on reddit awhile ago.
r/firefighting?
beautiful unit. some people get so bent out of shape about how many lights it has which is hilarious. if they're serving their community right, who cares what the ambulance looks like?
So true!
And the actual reason for all the lights is that they got fed up with all the people not stopping
Love the lights!! My philosophy is see...and BE seen!! I love the rotating lights too over newer l.e.d. lights or strobes.
-How many lights I put?

The EMT did a nice job hosting. Nice job, all around my guy.
The Teaneck ambulances are so recognizable because of those lights.
Vendor: How many lights you need?
Teaneck: How many lights you got?
Vendor: ..... um.
Teaneck: Well, quadruple that number and we're getting close.
LOL
Yes. Visibility is important.
No. That many lights does not make you any more visible than a reasonably spec-d rescue.
No. I don't care to debate that statement. The two stacked light bars on the cab roof/box front and the double grill lights on the front mount top do no more to warn drivers than just the standard front single light bar mount. No. . . the four quad LED bars do not have any better warning power than standard single unit grill mount lights. No. The rotating aero beacons paired with the side strobes aren't "enhancing" your visibility. Y'all wouldn't need the second engine if you didn't have 4 times the number of lights you actually need. LOL. The best part: Y'ALL AREN'T EVEN ALS! It's fantastic. Basics running around with more lighting power than ALS and paramedic units. "BUT WE'RE SAFER!" LOLOLOLOL. Oh-kay buckwheat. Back to the barn please.
Sometimes, too much is just too much. And it's usually only found on volunteer squads. No knock, but dang, you volunteer guys like to see things blink and flash.
The older vehicles are always the best and most reliable. Except for dodge
Decent especially that they have been able to keep this truck in frontline service for over 30 years
Cool number of siren lights
Most of my lieutenants look older than that chief 😂
Yep, the chief was barely walking when I started. It's good to see another generation taking an interest.
*How much lights do you wan't?*
*All of them!*
We had an older Bedford with proper two tone air horns, halogen blue on the grille, and 2 large blue rotators on the roof.
It was immaculate when we got it. Ran alongside our frontline Iveco, sadly we had an electric vertical roller shutter door in its bay. Yup, you guessed it, one by one they got taken out by 2 different volunteer drivers. The kids at the events we went to were heartbroken, until our new mercedes front line turned up ! It was beautiful 😍
Woah a Mercedes front line? How do you like that? We haven’t seen one of those yet!
thank you for showing off the lights. alot of people enjoy seeing that and some other channels that showcase these videos neglect showing the lighting setup so please continue to do so!
much love and god bless!
Thanks for watching! The lights on this beast were too cool not to see! God Bless!

More lights on that thing than the outside of grandma's house in December!
Our town used to have a spare Ambulance it rarely ever got used. Town has about 8 ambulances. was 9. the Ambulance was a 1990 Ford Econoline 350. The Others are just newer upgraded ones over the years. but the Spare 1990 Ford Econoline 350 one had a total of 8,000 miles on it roughly. They sold it at a Private Auction a couple years ago. Sold for $85,500 plus what ever Fees were attached to auction. but It brought in alot of extra Money in for the EMT dept to Hire 1 extra EMT worker, and 2 maintenance workers for a year. Which our town did approve extra budget for EMT the following year that allowed to keep the extra EMT worker and 2 maintenance workers on for future.
That’s awesome! That’s a great way to get some needed EMTs and maintenance workers!

When I was a paramedic, I never once had a patient complain of what I arrived in.
you probably didn't arrive in a truck set to "epileptic seizure" either.
@@vtxcnme9506 I took care of many patients who had epileptic seizures.
@@innertube205 Right.
But, was your truck light pattern set to induce epileptic seizures? Probably not. 99% of ambulance companies use a standard light loadout on a box. Not whatever the above video chose to do.

@@innertube205 right. So it looked nothing like the disaster in this video. It was a normal rig.
Have a great day bud.
Thats cool rig. My ole girl and her twin was retired about 5 years ago before she was converted to a pickup and I got her. Mine never got any modern updates like your unit she rocked her original 1989 specd gear. Your unit is most likely technacilly a 1988 built truck since the trucks would of been built as a incomplete chassis then after all the conversions completed had a VIN issued. you should have two dates on your drivers side door jam, cab side. Thats how mine is. mines a 1990 but really it was built as a incomplete chassis in 1989 and after its 4x4 conversion and Coach conversion was issued a VIN at completion in 1990. Mines a C7000 TopKick. basically the same as a regular C7000 except the cab is 7 inchs higher, double framed and a tilt hood. They both share the same cab and interior. also your trucks is a C7000 not a C7000 Sierra. Sierra is just a interior trim level. Like mine has the Sierra Classic interior trim. There was also a Grande,Silvarado, etc trim but werent actual model names to later on.
The lights 😍😍😍
Cool truck but nowhere close to 350k, I dont care what it was worth new. We replace our ambulances every 5 years and its 180k for a new f-450 with full equipment.
Now that is a heavy duty rig right there

@15:33 is there regulation about the colors? in F.Rep.Germany there was a nurse who thought that the green sticker means NaCl solution... but the new manufacturer thought that it should have a blue sticker... the green one was for KCl...
Great job, everything is explained clearly. Love the old school trucks, would love to own that one!☺️

130k miles is pretty low for a truck that is over 30 years old.
Their coverage area is about 4 square miles and they have 3 hospitals in that area, so that truck has seen a lot of calls, just not very far haha
American ambulances are spectacular in terms of equipment, but we don't understand the excess of emergency lights they use.
Some of us don't either
Tradition, Pride. He mentioned they had an old member that would nitpick weakpoints for ambulance lighting, probably led to them putting a couple extra on. Overtime I bet that became part of their departments pride and as more members join they want to add to that pride and probably kept placing more
They got hit years ago as a result of the person not seeing them. So in response spend thousands on thousands on lights stupidly. Just get a basic set up of LEDs and ditch the halogens and you’ll be fine. I see this ambulance all the time
@@stevengarcia1922 yup, less but better placed and synced lights would do way more than the Christmas tree it is now
Because they think they need them and that they will guarantee that they won’t get hit while parked and that traffic will magically part as they approach.
