I've used him in my army and he is so awesome, he has some good range with magic and some great power in close quarters, dealing mortal wounds when charging, dealing 8 attacks all with rend, able to soak up damage with a healing ability and give damage for damage taken in melee combat, plue can can give support with reviving a fallen stormcast model and giving buffs to shooting by flying over enemy units. It's basically a really good battle mage, you can leave it in the back and just blast the enemy with magic but you're better off charging into the enemy while flying over the target for additional shooting bonuses. It's probably one of my favourite out of the big stormcast units, if you ever plan on making a magic based stormcast army take this as the leader (and invest in balistas).
Revisiting Stormcast after a couple years, I forgot how much more depth Firestrike had to his origin story. It's always stuck out to me, with Fireson taking in a dangerous relic like The Ever-burning Coal. In his life as a Stormcast, he still has that artifact, and it affects his mood to where he can be a bit temperamental. It's really neat to see how such powerful items can affect such powerful characters long after first coming into contact with them.
Such a great story. I have long thought that GWs shortest works are the most compelling. I say this because I feel that they are always presented with a quality that hooks you and has you wanting more. KV
The reason you don't see the Lord-Arcanums on Tauralon on the table is that they're just overcosted for what they do. They kind of want to be close to the fight, but they don't have enough wounds to stick around and wind up going down very quickly to focus fire of any kind. If you want a multi-casting wizard for Stormcast, the Lord-Arcanum on foot is usually just a better way to go. If you want a big, punchy monster, use the "Starcast Combo" on a Stardrake. What's funny is the only way to get a Lord-Arcanum on foot is actually to build Aventis Firestrike and then use the spare bits. That's the official way anyway, but most people don't want to spend that kind of money just for a foot hero so you typically will see people kitbash one of the various Knight-Incantor models or the Stormsire's Cursebreakers to make a reasonable approximation.
Last time i used him he was in battle for several turns, depending on what you are fighting and your dice rolls he can be very tanky and deal out a lot of damage. As for point cost, you can make that claim for any of the big three, honestly i now just fill my army with balistas, they are the best unit from that chamber and one of the cheapest.
Given his backstory, I can’t believe he isn’t a Celestial Vindicator; he went all-out for vengeance, uncaring whether he lived or died, only that his enemies were wiped out.
Could you make a video about the fauna in the AOS' realms? Ogres have the Ur-bear myth, there's Ur-phoenix... I'm fascinated by warbeasts so which ones are used for war in AOS and why?
@@Bmac1027 I mean before Sigmar "recruited" him to be a stormcast. I thought I read it in a battle time but I'm not sure whether I confuse him with Valten or not.
Also has anyone tried him in a battle so far doing some research online to see how people design list around him I really don’t see much models $100 and I’m thinking about just get it and try and get myself any thoughts
I've used him and he is fun to charge into battle, good magic, can deal out a lot of melee damage, plus additional damage on charging and taking damage, plus can both heal himself and bring back killed stormcast. Depending on how you play and if you have the money they are probably worth it. Also as someone who has built both this and the star drake, this model is so much easier to build.
I had the same thought.... but something occured to me. All the named characters in AOS seem to be locked into the "Poster boy" variants of a faction, Hammers of Sigmar is that for the Stormcast. Maybe thats it?
@@2Tough Probably, GW does have a bad habit of hard pushing their poster boy subfactions. Like how the Ultramarines have like 6 special characters to everyone else's 1.
I think you just help me design my storm cast army no more collecting it as it grows on the table and decide which I want to do/vindicators or what not but now hearing the story about him makes me open up the book and think this could be fun thank you sir
Steve Gusky He can also be included as the General of a Cities of Sigmar Hammerhal army. Doing so grants you an additional command point in your first Hero Phase. Plus it’s just highly thematic having him as the General, He is the Magister of Hammerhal and speaks with the authority of Signar himself on matters of the city.
Sarah Hillary Thank you so much that gives me another good idea I appreciate all the help to many choices especially after the Realm lords have been posted as being released soon Time to sell a kidney 😊

Some may say Aventis is cool, personally I think he’s on fire 🔥🔥🔥

one of my favourite stormcast heroes and epic origin story
Aventis be like " A shet, here we go again "
I've had this model built and unpainted for a year now. I just need one more paint to start! Thanks for the lore, Doug!
I just ordered Aventis so this is perfect timing!
A very extremely awesome video as always Doug.
I like the story and the model and can even see the warscroll. I can not however see how spending the points would be even close to feasable.
Awesome as always. Thank you
Another great AOS vid. Keep em comin

One can only assume that when Aventi went through the Stormcast reforging process he could only think "Oh. This again."
Thanks Doug..just bought Aventis!!
Great video 👍
Loved the vid!!!

We need some Lumineth Realm Lords lore videos.
Just preordered the book :)
Wasn't Vandus a blacksmith that fought Khagos Khul and died?
I think so. He definitely fought Khorgus
Yea he got smacked up by khorgus but the stormcast won because of it
@@Bmac1027 I mean before Sigmar "recruited" him to be a stormcast. I thought I read it in a battle time but I'm not sure whether I confuse him with Valten or not.

charles townsend thank you so much for the info ( I am planning on getting him- the model is awesome!)😉
I don't get why he is a Hammer of Sigmar. Everything about his lore suggests that he should be a Celestial Vindicator.

Lorrus Grymmn is the best stormcast
what a badass 🔥
What a BA!!!
