  • testing the upgraded do88 e90 m3 DCT transmission cooler.
    works great to keep the engine oil temp below 100 degree celsius.
    i had problems befor with that the stock cooler couldn't keep my oil temps down, some really hot days i had oil temp of 130-135 degree celsius, but now the car does not go abow 100 degrees.
    can strongly recommend the DO88 Oil Cooler for the e90 M3 DCT for all bmws with the n54 and n55 engine, it fits in the stock position in the stock mounting bracket's.
    feel free to ask any questions about the install, and i might do a video on it, plus you can find more info on my instagram page.

    nice vid man! Quick questions: 1.- Do you have a way to monitor your engine oil pressure? (like the nexsysmotorsport one). Asking because in theory is a NO-NO using transmission oil-coolers for engine-oil cooling. Some who tried said the oil pressure is dropping to dangerous numbers. There are also some sentences like this all over the place: "Engine oil coolers are designed for greater pressures and temperatures than transmission or power steering fluid coolers. This means you need to know what the cooler you have in mind is designed for. You do not want to run a transmission or power steering fluid cooler as an engine oil cooler." 2.- Did you remove the OEM thermostat and used an fully open one like Burger or similar? Could you please tell us a bit about that. In theory on OEM spec the mechanical thermostat opens at 110°C (if i'm not mistaken, something around that) but in your vid it never reach even 100°

      If i remember correctly the oem thermostat opens at around 115-118C,
      And at the moment i have a bypass plugg, wich delete the thermostat, so the oil constantly circulate to the oilcooler.

    I don't think if it's the best solution to decrease oil temp. Did you check oil pressure before/after ? There is a good solution with Mosselman oil cooler for N54

      I think it is, the only part you need is the oil cooler, the rest you dont need to change at all. Exept for the plastic duckting.
      And it makes ton of difference. Have driven around 4000km with great result 👍🏼

    Hello TR, thanks for sharing! I ordered this cooler for my M1 but do I really need the mossolman ? Did you upgrade your oil lines? I heard they can leak and cause fire

    • @TwistyRoadsSE
      @TwistyRoadsSE  4 месяца назад +1

      i have not installed the mosse man yet, i run a bypass plugg in the stock thermostat, i would recommend the mossle thermostat for road use, due to the car runs on to low oil temp for road use with the bypass plugg.
      but you could probably use the stock thermostat also, the oil cooler works great, and if it doesn't, upgrade the thermostat later on then.
      and i did not upgrade the oil lines, they seems fine on my car, my M has 90000km on it so still quite fresh

      @@gabrielmelgar129 it fits with to original oil lines, Thats the biggest reason Why i wanted the do88 cooler. You dont need any AN fittings or som special brackets. All the oem parts fits for the cooler. And its the biggest one you can possibly fitt in the oem position 😁
