Everyone rips on the 1M for somehow looking ugly........but really? Ugly? Everything seems handsome about that car.
Looks like BMW crashed into a Chrysler and the BM only won by 20%...UGLY for a German car and terrible compared to that M3.

CUTE! The 1 series M coupe is the most muscular beefy looking M car ever. It's like a true modern day equivalent to the E30 M3. It has the same kind of look and proportions and they're so rare. The 1 series M coupe is my choice hands down.
meh! it does look weird not so M"ish" especially from the front. M3 looks sexy and ferocious 1m looks cute from the back and ugly from the front.they are right!
The curved lines under the door and the roof-line don't do it for me.

proportion or whatever it basically have hop up 3 series engine n54 which make power around 1500-5000 and loses power from there so reving to redline is pointless isnt that what the e30 about lenient power delevery and if torque is what you want why dont go buy a 135i and tuned it or amg merc and the sound is crap compare to all the m3s but im sorry the m3 is more of an m car even thou its biger unique engine high reeving lenient power delivery balance

Much rather drive a fully loaded M1 over the M3 just to stand out be different. Plus the car is just Badass

this thing is astonishingly painful to watch compared to EVO, Car Magazine, or Autocar.
May be the 1M is not so special, but I bet it is a future classic with this massive rear fenders, limited production numbers and also its pureness... the M3 (E92) is a bit more on a posh side...

I made my choice with the M3. The 1M just didn't do it for me. Too ugly, but a hell of a drive.

No rest for the wicked uhh...care to explain why? even though they are softer and I guess a bit less fun to drive than in the past, they are better in all other ways than older BMW's...best transmission in the world, more power, better MPG, nicer interiors with more space, better tech, much improved idrive...and you get 4 years of free servicing

"37 lb ft more torque than you"...then "370 lb ft of torque, thats almost 100 more than you"....wut?
THe 1M coupe has 332 Ib ft of torque. When you hit overboost, it adds another 35ish. So it's near 370.
He explained the overboost feature earlier. Sheesh
3M's are everywhere. 1M is special, a classic to be for sure. The low production numbers make it worth keeping.
I've owned a M3, and my household has a 1M. You know what they're both great cars. Loved the V8 on the M3, but you know what I don't love? Its the DCT gearbox, its not that great for day to day driving. The 1M is a great car, it handles great, and its alot of fun. But in 2015? That car is a little outdated, the M235i surprisingly is a better day to day car by far, and its just as fast.

+den525 thats because the 235 is meant to be a day-to-day car, & the 1M a high-performance M car. they're only similar on paper- drive them back to back & you'll never want to drive a 235 again, i promise!

Wow I'm coming from future and next to the new bmws, these two vehicles are real two legends...
The E92 ///M3 is for me the best those two cars. It looks fantastic, it sounds and revs like a beast... The 1 ///M is pretty awesome too, with that TwinTurbo inline six and this manual gearbox, but the ///M3 is just better ;)
Why do you have to put the "///" every time you say M wat like it's called the "M3"

None of these compares to the E30 or the E46
There are 2 things why I would want to buy the e92 M3 over the 1M.......The looks are much better & the engine is a lot better 4.0 na V8...M3 for me :)

it's automatic? I know it has paddle shifters but that doesn't always mean it's tiptronic, if it is that would be a shame.

makaveli2193 I just watched the video a little more and he mentioned that he has two clutches. This means he has the DCT, which is worlds faster than any manual (but is admittedly not as fun to drive.)

It is easy to find 1/4 mile and 0-60 videos, but that was fun to watch and made the cars/drivers more real.

Onto my second e92 m3 now. First one being a manual and this one being a DCT, it's a truly brilliant car. Completely faultless (assuming you can afford to run it) :)

I haven't driven either however, from what you guys say In this review - the 1M could be used as a daily in a city with tight roads low down torgue , where as the E92 M3 is more your suburbia/ country daily or weekend driver . For me it's the M3 all day every day

i'm not talking about abs and tc, those are obviously needet. I'm talking about things like the big bord computer with idrive, satellite navigation, cruise control, heated seats and all this stuff that adds weight which you don't want in a sports car.

I bet these guys are kicking themselves now over this review , 6-7 yrs later everyone enthusiast knows which one they would have in their garage....and the current evaluations do not lie!

Both are utterly fabulous cars, the 1M more demanding and the M3 more rewarding the harder you work it. I think the 1M is utterly special!
