I'm not much of a smash player but I feel like several of these points are applicable to traditional FGs as well. Like combos for instances, while it is true that no DI and percentages makes combos consistent, there are other things that can influence your routing. Counter hits, crouch confirms, corner, meter, weight classes and in some rare cases hurtbox size and your starter can all influence what combo you go into.
Tight windows for inputs also aren't a smash specific thing either. Off the top of my head +R has 2-4 frame frc windows and SF4 is infamous for its 1 frame links. There are also other skills that might not have very small windows but are still technically challenging to do nonetheless such as kara cancels or manually timed setups.
Like there are definitely certain aspects of smash that make it harder than traditional fighters but it kind of goes both ways.

I make a comment about this, i play both type of games for many years and the size of thing how smash have compare with the tradicionla fighting game is... Quite small, i see meele as a pretth hard game, not the hardest, one of the hardest of course but ultimate? Not even close, aside of the number upmatchs, in a traditionak fighting game there are a ton of mechanics that SSBU, like for real, a lot more

Only melee is really harder than other Fighting games the other smash games are more similar to other Fighting games as far as depth and smash ultimate is easier to pick up sure but it's not just cause the people that are good at melee just understood all the tech but it's that they figured it out and took years to pass the daunting barrier to entry that melee has to become good where as most people that play ultimate aren't gonna do that despite wanting the same status as the melee players. Until you really get good at melee you aren't able and don't even know how to understand how much more complex melee really is than other Fighting games including smash ultimate

I know so many people in the FGC who play multiple fighting games at the same time, but when it comes to platform fighters everyone sticks to their own game and never gets proficient in other titles. It's sad because that means, in terms of raw experience, FGC players are more equiped to more meaningfully compare the difficulty of their games than platform fighter players.

Intresting topic, Only issue i hade with the video is the way you format your arguments, using an example with the " Steve building blocks ( ultimate) and fox rushing you down with 10 inputs a second ( melee clip ) " yet showing clips and from two vastly diffrent smash titels, Melee/ P+ and Ultimate are basicaly destinct enough to be 2 complealty diffrent games or almost game genre ,
Just with how Tekken being a 3d fighter, and street fighter being a 2d fighter makes them extremaly diffrent in approch, Or tradfighters vs anime fighters, being more groundbased vs almost never toutching the ground etc,
So my question is , 1: Do you want to say that smash ultimate is the hardest fighing game , Or that Melee is the hardest, ? Or smash as a whole series ,
because if its the 3rd option for some reason then you can say that king of fighters would be the hardest game as there are over 15 instalments, totaling more then 80+ charcters, mechanics and changes over all 15 instalments , older games having 0 buffer so all combos or things needs to be frame perfect execution like old special movesin street fighter 1. etc etc,
(this is comming from somone who has compeated in both , 3d, 2d, and platfighters for like 15+ years,

Hardest is melee. It really is scrappy. But only for fox and marth. Everyone else is braindead easy. In that case, Ultimate actually requires balanced fundamentals. So its harder if you exclude fox and marth.

@@SuperSwagdood have you ever actually played melee? this comment is so braindead. sure fox is the most difficult but marth isnt even close to the second hardest, falco, yoshi and sheik are all harder top tiers. melee requires the same fundamentals as ultimate and on top of that you have to learn to L-cancel, Wavedash/waveland, Ledge-Dash, Amsah-tech, ASDI, shield drop and thats not even including character specific tech like fox/falco waveshine or Yoshi's perfect parry

    This is omega cap.
I would say Melee is among the hardest fighting games but not ultimate.
I would say fighting games with the most movement is
    Fastest to Slowest
    Marvel games > Melee + Tekken > Meltyblood > Anime Games > Ultimate > SF + KOF > Samsho
Taken has almost as much movement as Melee and Mvc games incredibly fast.
Tekken combos will differ based on mid screen, whether there's a wall, and character size.
Street fighter combos differ based on mid screen, corner, and if there's meter.
Ultimate has DI but it doesn't have other things.
Ultimate like SF6 just has a lot of competition. It doesn't mean the game is hard rather there's just a lot of hard people to beat.
