I remember her singing in radio shows and on stage. An under rated singer. I miss the singing of that era, clear diction, you didn't have to guess what the hell the lyrics were all about. No auto tune, little in the way of gimmicks, they had to be able really sing.
@@BazzerObama Alma's accompanist Stan Foster was at one of her parties and recalls that Paul McCartney sat at the piano and played the melody notes to a new unfinished song over which he sang the lyrics "Fish and chips, how I'd like to have some fish and chips".
The only word is fabulous! She was a stellar singer and performer, and designed her own incredible gowns. Everyone also loved her personality, which comes through clearly in her voice and facial expressions. She had a unique sparkle, a natural razzle-dazzle. What a loss that she died so young!
I love Alma, I am a 70's child never saw Alma until 1991, we never saw her old shows, so glad the Internet has found such a great artist. Thanks For sharing.
George Martin Harold Wilson loved The Beatles- that's why he taxed them at 99 pence in the pound [though it was shillings and pence then.] Thank God for Harold- kept us out of the war- something Blair didn't have the courage to do. I think you'll find that's just what Tom Jones and Englebert did- go to Vegas.
I discovered Alma as a child at Christmas after my Mum had given me a CD called Merry Christmas Children Everywhere. Songs included on the CD by Alma were Never Do A Tango With An Eskimo & Christmas Cards. These were her only songs I had known for many years until last year I got really into old music from the 40s and 50s, and already have a few of Alma's CD's and a couple of her 78s!
I think there should be an in-depth book about her relationship with John Lennon. Perhaps the song You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away was written for her. Cynthia Lennon said that Alma was the real love of Lennon’s life. He met Yoko only 2 weeks after Alma’s death. He was ripe for the picking.
This is one of the best tv clips i have seen of the wonderful Alma Cogan!! so much fun in her voice and the banter with band leader Jack Parnell is really funny!! by the way for those intrested Almas gown consisted of pink ostrich feathers and the top was of gold fabric must have looked stunning to the live audience!! hard to believe that next year marks the 50th year of Almas passing having died very young (34) on October the 26th 1966 a truly wonderful singer!!!
Yes, transmitted by ATV on Saturday 2nd February, 1963. A thoroughly talented, captivating lady with a mischievous, infectious personality. How lucky were her friends and party guests to have Alma in their lives.
Sadly Billie DAVIS had the British cover hit with Tell Him, and she was a teenager then.Alma wanted a song like contemporary Petula Clark's Down Town which was a radical change from Sailor Sadly even her friendship with the Beatles yielded nothing. Gone too young. RIP
She's just wonderful. I lived her when I was a pre-teenager and still do, at 74. She had fun in her voice too! R.I.P Alma xxx
Yes, the girl with the giggle in her voice! She had true star quality!
We will.never have singer like that and culture like that anymore !! Look at music of today ....shame
Very talented. Puts to shame many of the modern day 'stars'.
Time for a movie about Alma.
With the Beatles included.
I'd love that.
She’s amazing. Lady Gaga could definitely play her in a movie. 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
Wonderful! fabulous in every way, absolutely loved her!

Same thinking here, no record playing at the back.
Singers could really sing in those days. This lady had a great voice - very talented.
Much missed , much loved gone but NEVER Forgotten an absolute legend Bring back yesterday
she was the first singer to play live on tv and toured the world, and the 1st truly global star!!!
She had it all a lovely voice, brilliant personality and a joy to watch, what more could anyone ask for, very sadly missed.
Wow I am astounded she had talent and her gowns were so gorgeous too bad she passed away really young
Great singer and personality...sadly we don't have such people nowadays
Died too young, at 34. John Lennon was one of her lovers, and Paul McCartney composed “Yesterday” on her piano, in her Kensington home.
wrong there mate, about yesterday.
Paul composed Yesterday when he was living at Jane Ashers parents house on the piano he had there.

I love Alma, I am a 70's child never saw Alma until 1991, we never saw her old shows, so glad the Internet has found such a great artist. Thanks For sharing.
She reminds me of Connie Francis in that her singing is effortless, it just flows from her like she was born to sing. Both are great talents.

+bin don He actually taxed them at 105% retroactively for one year. Now that is really confiscatory...
George Martin well you should know lol
What's relevant about her being Jewish, regarding her sleeping with John Lennon?
my mother grew up with one of her nieces 😉
How beautiful she was. Truly a Goddess. And how sad that she died so young, only 34.
Never heard of her Nice voice Beautifil personality!!
She really lifts the spirit!
My gran and grandads favourite they met her on a trip to Llandudno when she played in a theatre nearby!
Lovely voice.
I'll always remember the lovely dresses she wore.
Her hairdo is a bit over the top.
Cowell this is what a real singer sounds like without autotune
I love listening Alma Cogan. I'll be listening to her in Heaven.

Yes, transmitted by ATV on Saturday 2nd February, 1963. A thoroughly talented, captivating lady with a mischievous, infectious personality. How lucky were her friends and party guests to have Alma in their lives.
Las vegas would have been a place for her to go.
she is quite amusing
Billie Davies covered this in1963, hers was the bigger hit.Totally different rendition.
Sadly Billie DAVIS had the British cover hit with Tell Him, and she was a teenager then.Alma wanted a song like contemporary Petula Clark's Down Town which was a radical change from Sailor Sadly even her friendship with the Beatles yielded nothing. Gone too young. RIP
Travis Hackett: “Does this look like the G**damned Harbinger Motel to You!?”
My dear mommy i miss you...
Like Marilyn Monro, she will grow old.
If John Lennon had to leave Cynthia, Alma would’ve been a better choice than …
Very talented lady - but looks like she is wearing a lampshade

We Love you girl . X
